Genealogy / Polish looks? [1462]

It was about can British or other *natives* spot a Pole or Poles in their communities
The simple answer is yes, a lot of the time *we* can.

OK guys, isthatu2 is not quite wrong here. When you consider how many Polish guys have shaved their heads nowadays, it does make it pretty easy to determine their nationality (maybe it has changed in the meantime but a few years ago, it was a big time fashion in Poland and we all know it). Also, you guys often wear different cloth too (I'm not saying worse, just different).

You can spot

why don't you guys post pics of people from different countries and start guessing where they're from? (like 3 pics and one of them has to be a Pole, male or female, doesn't matter).

The lottery of life: Where to be born in 2013

geez guys, it's not where you're born but what you make out of it. You can be born in a rich country and still be very poor or you can be born in a poor country and be very rich. It's you (and the circumstances) who makes the difference.

History / Ukrainian-occupied Eastern Poland [135]

as for the west I'm all for reclaiming Hamburg, Kiel, Lubeck, Magdeburg, Leipzig, not to mention Berlin, mind you not for Poland per say but to create a state for Sorbs, a rightful heirs of those lands

Sorbs arrived in the area extending between the Bober, Kwisa, and Oder rivers to the East and the Saale and Elbe rivers to the West during the sixth century A.D.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sorbs#History

how do you figure they're the "rightful heirs of those lands"? What about the "rightful heirs of those lands" before the sixth century A.D.?

News / Today's release of UK govt papers under the 30 year rule - JPII and the US look bad [18]

Americans planned to tip the Argentinians off about British plans to re-take South Georgia

"The United States was concerned by the prospect of Argentina turning to the Soviet Union for support and initially tried to mediate an end to the conflict. However, when Argentina refused the U.S. peace overtures, U.S. Secretary of State Alexander Haig announced that the United States would prohibit arms sales to Argentina and provide material support for British operations. Both Houses of the U.S. Congress passed resolutions supporting the U.S. action siding with the United Kingdom.

The U.S. provided the United Kingdom with military equipment ranging from submarine detectors to the latest missiles...

News / Are Poles good enough for USA (to go there without a visa)? [288]

your Father's oak tree, as in your Forefather!
Remember who cut down the oak tree!

adult people make adult decisions. When your ancestors left Poland behind, it was for a reason, right? People who love Poland so much, stay in Poland or at least go back to Poland whenever they make enough money to live there.

Life / Is Poland a poor country? [578]

Tommy doesn't realise that. He's too infatuated with Poland and everything Polish it's gone to his head. Anything he believes is even mildly critical of his new found country (?) he goes berserk and starts hating on his own country (?) and calling British people every name under the sun.

maybe he does it because he's not British?
