History / The Way Back ( Długi Marsz movie) Colin Farrell, Ed Harris [27]

The escapee was in fact Witold Glinski and the story came into Rawicz's possesion "by foul means or fair."

There is some doubt about that too, however I read an interview with a guy who takes care of Polish war archives in the US and he found evidence of similar travel - a bill for the hospitalization of a group of Poles who entered India through the Himalayas. He also said that the conditions in SU were so harsh that the "legal" way to the Anders Army after the amnesty of the Poles was equally dramatic to very many Poles and many died on their way, despite the fact that they didn't have to hide.

Life / What do Poles think of Indians? [35]

How do Poles think/ relate to India... culturally and economically?

I think the image is positive. I think they are less racist and more friendly than other exotic races. They are also better at science than some other exotic race assosiated with Poland.

Life / Why are Polish people so obsessed with race? [160]

Obviously women are not as bad as men, so this is most focused at men.

Polish women are rather naive and ignorant. If race X is being openly antipolish, they either aren't aware of that or somehow fail to understand that it's time to stop being apologetic. Once a Polish female journalist interviewed Giles Coren and her reaction to his incoherent antipolish rambling was something like: "well, do you at least like this Polish food?".

Like a lot of polish people have migrated to European countries, but don't want any immigrant moving into their country even if they people are educated and skilled.

I'm a Pole living in Poland and I'm not against immigrants, as long as they are at least neutral towards Poland, express a desire to integrate and don't form large closed communities. This is nothing more than what Brits or French want from immigrants, and Poland wasn't ever a colonial power that owns something to African or Asian people.

Like some of the rude remark I have seen about Jewish people on this forum, and thinking that a big part of the holocaust took part in Poland. It's seem Hitlers ideals still live on strong. Sorry if anyone finds that offensive. But judge people by from what I see.

You should see what Jewish people write about Polish people. They don't stop at "a big part of the holocaust took part in Poland". It is offensive on so many levels.

News / Don't let Poland become like my country, France. [630]

Poland had already have very large, culturally and racially alien group that didn't integrate and wasn't loyal to the state. This is nothing new for us.

The funny thing is that we used to be critised and called names by pretty much everybody for not wanting so much of them. Now people tell us we shouldn't make the same mistake as they did and shouldn't be as welcoming towards aliens as them?

I say it's our turn to call the Brits and French primitive racists! :) I say Polish government should defend the rights and well being of persecuted Arabs, Blacks, Pakistani etc. in UK and France! :)

History / Poland: Her heroes and her traitors [214]

If we talk about the Deluge, lets not forget Frederick William I, the Elector of Brandenburg and the Duke of Prussia, who sided with the Swedes, although he was a vassal of Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Were he punished by the Poles at that time, instead of gaining sovereignty, probably the whole world history would be totally different (for example, a couple millions of lives could be saved ;)

News / Jerusalem Post: Poland's good intentions [30]

If you think about it, Poles should also pay compensation to most Germans from Prussia, Pomerania and Silesia, cause after all you can't prove that an individual German family was guilty of any crime.

But who will pay the compensation to Poles expelled from Soviet-annexed territory??? Who will pay for Polish property destroyed during war? Again Poles?
But wait, WHY ARE OWNERSHIP RIGHTS PUT ABOVE EVERYTHING ELSE? Are ownership rights more sacred than let's say - a life? If a family lost a father due to nazi or communist terror then why shouldn't they be compensated? If somebody spend 8 years in communist prison and underwent torture then why shouldn't he be compensated? Is his suffering smaller than the suffering of somebody who lost his factory?

Again, the question remains: who will pay for all this? Ordinary Polish taxpayers who didn't do anything wrong? Doesn't seem like justice.
And why Jews who left Poland 60 years ago and their heirs should be the first to receive compensation from the huge number of people who suffered during nazi or communist rule? I say they are at the very end of the queue.

Besides, Polish government shouldn't pay anything to Israeli citizens until after they pay reasonable compensations to Palestinians, as a matter of principle.
I was also going to write that Poland shouldn't pay anything to USA citizens, until after USA government pays off native American Indians and the state of Mexico, but the fact is that poor, war-devastated Poland has already paid a compensation to the US government, who agreed that it would take care of distributing those funds among its eligible citizens. Funny how the Jerusalem Post quoted one part of Radek Sikorski statement but somehow missed the part where he mentioned that agreement :D

I guess the Jewish tactics is "to be shocked and offended" by Poland's unwillingness to pay, at least once a month for the next few years.

That should be the bottom line. Instead our moronic prime minister Tusk goes to Israel making promises, playing Santa Claus, cause he knows Polish taxpayers are "survivors" as well - that is they survive anything Polish government throws at them.

History / Symbols & Signs in Polish History, Culture & Life [89]

The banner of Kościuszko Uprising that glorifies Polish peasants:
pl.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Plik:Banner_of_Ko%C5%9Bciuszko_Uprising.PNG&filetimestamp=20100312140810

It was used for example by the 303 fighter squadron:

The symbol of Polish Winged Hussars is also characteristic:

Speaking of animals, the drawing of Wojtek the bear is used:

If you want to look towards painters, then look for Malczewski, Matejko, Kossaks.

Life / How many Jewish people live in Poland? [145]

Here in the States I've met quite a few Polish Jews, most love Poland and are patriotic.

That is very interesting, cause most Jews you can meet on Jewish sites are very antipolish to the very bone marrow. Of course being antipolish is not nearly as bad as being antisemitic...

I'm glad to hear that. I used to be curious and friendly towards Jews, but right from the beginning I came across very many examples of Jews simply hating Poles for being Poles. Always happy to find out that not every Jew is like this.

Our 'favorite' guys at the ADL have this to say

"We are not surprised to find that a high percentage of the respondents hold negative views of Jews, given each country's history of animus towards Jews. However, we are hopeful that, along with their other EU partners, they will take the necessary steps to make anti-Semitism unacceptable in their societies."

LOL, I wonder what those steps might be. I was sure that "not liking" Jews and being open about it is already a punishable offence.

I'd say that while the educated people couldn't care less about Jews (imaginary or real) - the uneducated classes have a huge, bitter grudge against them. As far as I can tell, it seems to be handed down within families.

Did your family hand it down to you? Or do you belong to the "educated class"?
Only a half-wit can have such ideas.
From my experience 99% of Poles couldn't care less about Jews one way or the other, but various Jewish circles are nevertheless dead set bent on reminding Poles about their existence. Even when US president comes to Poland, a big chunk of his visit is about Jews. When The Guardian did a series of articles about Poland recently, guess what, they did a feature about Jewish life. From time to time Polish media report articles on Jewish sites claiming that Poles were the guards at Auschwitz. Recently, Poland was represented at an art festival by a Jewish artist, who made a project about... Jews in Poland. There is the infamous Gross. And so on and so forth.

To sum up, the average Polish person living in Poland keeps hearing about Jews more often than he would like to, much more than let's say about the French or Mexicans, and usually it is about Jews wanting something from him or accusing him of some bad things.

In addition, Bzibzioh, if no more than THREE (3) Jews were murdered by post-War Europeans, that's already three too many, let's please not argue stats, ok? It's not about the numbers, but the ideology that led to whole thing in the first place!

Now tell me please how many non-Jewish Poles were killed in years 1945-1956 in Poland. And by the way, can you check what was the percentage of Jews employed in Polish communist oppression apparatus?

History / WW2 - The other side. What USSR, also that the Polish government has made not to admit WW2 [45]

If have something to add you are most welcome...

Soviet Union under Stalin was an evil empire. It was guilty of genocide of millions of people of many nationalities, Russian included, long before the war started. Making pacts with Stalin and believing in his good intentions was pure stupidity with tragic consequences. Actually the only pacts that made sense were the likes of Molotov-Ribbentrop, when you expected to break them anyway.

History / What do Poles owe to Russians? [193]

Hitler didnt like Jews or Slavs (especially Poles) he would attack Russia and then probably Poland (speculation but certainly possible).

He did accept the help of Croatians.
The alliance was in fact proposed, problem is, Hitler would like to move Poland eastwards, somewhere east of Dnieper probably, cause for him it wasn't just about freeing the world of Bolsheviks, it was about Lebensraum, land and resources.

I always thought Poles had only plans for Berlin....in a week or so...

Too much reading of Volkischer Beobachter?

Repeated in the church in Poland? Are you paranoid?

He is.
Last time I had to attend a catholic mass in Poland (funeral), the priest said something about "our brothers Jews". The pries who taught us "religion" at primary school, spoke very highly of Jews as well. They were disconnected from reality probably.

Nope...Rydz-Smigly in March 1939

The last known German who tried to suggest such things was Erika Steinbach. Your German compatriots concluded she is nuts.

The Russians also exterminated Polish elite.
The Russians also took over Poland.

Interestingly, Timothy Snyder in his book "Bloodlands" stated that the most persecuted ethnic group in the second half of 1930s, were not German Jews, but Poles living in the Soviet Union - 600 000 of them.

History / What do Poles owe to Russians? [193]

Not exactly.

Germans planned to exterminate all Polish elite members, all and sundry.

In 1945 and later, Soviets exterminated those who were openly against communism, mainly AK patriots.

False, their goals were pretty much similar from the very beginning:

Language / You & The Polish Language: Just in One Sentence [11]

The Polish language is ???

The most difficult language I know. Both in terms of grammar and pronunciation Foreigners told me it sounds like the noise from an old analog radio or the noise you make when walking over dry leaves in autumn. Poles admire any foreigner who learned their language.

You may compare it with other Slavic languages

The Czech language is the most similar to Polish, however it sounds like "child talk" to Poles.

Life / The day Poland ran out of artists. [40]

I still remember "the artist" Rafał Betlejewski vandalising walls with his slogan "Jew, I miss you". Later on, he concluded in an interview in Gazeta Wyborcza that Polish police is antisemitic cause they detained him for vandalism.

I guess we should have sent him to Western European cities with an art project / sabotage mission. He would spray pro-Jewish slogans on their walls and if they complained, that would be a solid proof that they are vicious antisemites.

Language / Czech language sounds like baby talk to most Poles. Similarities? [222]

You seem to be making the typical foreigner mistake

I once heard people saying that Poles are nowhere "u siebie", Poland included, so yes, I might be a foreigner :D
You seem to be more interested in my command of Polish than my Polish literature teacher.

Czech is together with Slovak and Sorbic a West Slavonic language

You forgot to add Polish to this list.

Antek_Stalich
Please, tell us which foreign language is closer to Polish than Czech?
(BTW that the same words have different meanings in Polish and Czech still implies more similarity than when different words have different meanings, like in Polish and some non Slavic language)
