sorry I meant just outside of Warsaw.
The cities werent taken with much effort as there was mostly civilian population and they had planes to bomb them, who would hide in some building that can be bombed and destroyed easily?

Warsaw capitulated on 28th?was it long?hard to say, but I dont think any sensible person can see a city/town as good defend position, to many civilians to think about.

and cities are no fortresses sooner or later they will be taken

.much better to go around them and cut them off...

exactly:] You can cut them off, You can surround them, bombed them etc they cant hold for long without a help

months to bomb the place into dust to take i

warsaw uprising lasted only 63 days...
and there werent that many German soldiers to take it

Life / IS Poland in danger of becoming the next multi cultural sink hole? [201]

Can poland maintain its identity

I am afraid it cant, just turn on tv and see for Yourself,or look at the teenagers copying Americans. But it is not the West that is the problem, but our quasi intelligentsia that runs the show.

rather insular.

why do You think so?

Life / IS Poland in danger of becoming the next multi cultural sink hole? [201]

we are all one born into the same world and that we are all equal.

I dont challenge that, but explain me what is the reason of keeping a country, if it doesnt represent the culture of the nation?why the countries were created and fought for its right to exist in the first place? if You like the idea of multiculturalism so much, why not forget about the borders and be a one happy family with the whole world?

So, little Polack racist - what do you know about the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth? Don't you realise that it was probably one of the most multicultural, tolerant nations in history towards many different people? Don't you realise that the Jews in Poland came during those times, fleeing persecution in more intolerant countries

what is so racist about it?You people seem to not understand the meaning of the word. The multiculturalism is one of the factor that led to destruction of the Commonwealth, altough I agree it made our culture richer etc but it all was conducted in a completely different manner than it is happening in the West.

to attract better minds from all over and have them Polonized :). Also, there should be immigration policies which give priority to genuine students, skilled worker and investor.

ok, it is all fine as long as they do integrate and it doesnt happen in such big numbers as in the West, however I dont see a point of it happening now when so many Poles cant make it in Poland and have to live abroad. Also when the time comes and we are short of people, the desired immigration should come form Ukraine and Belarus-similar cultures, language, one generation and they are through and trough Polish

are You trying to be smart?if You have a problem with Poles working in Your country, then moan to Your goverment not me. I am not responsible for it, and I dont like it either. I live in Poland, as my parents and grandparents did, and I have a right not to be in favour of Poland becoming multicultural, especially if arguments for this is- Poles work abroad too

Life / IS Poland in danger of becoming the next multi cultural sink hole? [201]

if You read my last post You would notice that I dont differentiate between these two. If the Western goverments decide that they dont want to have Poles in their country, I am happy with that, and I can understand the reasons for it. I dont blame immigrants (Poles and others) because they just look for a better life for themselves, it is the goverments responsibility for doing what is best for their countries, and if they decide that Polish immigration isnt, then as I said before I am happy with that.

I dont mind the Western immigration, I just said that culturally other slavic countries are closer to us and therefore a good material for immigrants, also Western immigration hasnt even crossed my mind because now and for many years to come West will be richer then Poland so I dont see them immigrating to Poland in large numbers

Heritage, history, identifying with ones past.

which You are loosing while becoming multicultural

Because they had no choice[quote=Wroclaw Boy]

no they had a choice, they could forget about their heritage and culture and melt into a new country, the reference to animal world is quite silly,

[quote=Wroclaw Boy] its a similar fashion to what happens in the animal world, like wolves marking their territory's etc.. Male tigers will kill other infant tigers to protect their territory and futures.

we are not that different to animals, it is all about surviving, and I want my country to survive

Its a forgone conclusion that it will happen eventually anyway.

No, just look at Finland,

Why not indeed.

You dont feel any connection to Your home country?

WB -Evolution is to evolve in sth better I really didnt see it in the West

so then you tell me why is so many polish in america,i didn't know that usa was in europe.

What US- a country of immigrants have to do with anythig?

They do integrate when immigration policies are good and the people of the home country also support this integration process.

Lodz,I understand You want the immigrants to be polonized, right?so, dont You think the immigration from similar countries is better?also Your policies are unreal

You think about taking in the students and educated people(the ones who are more open and therefore better to
asssimlite)but Poles are well educated, when we need immigrants we will need them for manual work just as it happens in the West, so do You believe some doctor should come to Poland to swipe the floors?

clearly so that you could have the whitest, most polish and monocultural society possible with everyone looking the same, speaking the same language, believing in the same religion, eating the same food.....cause that's what you got.

by putting the word "white" in You are trying to play the racist card?cant we have a serious conversations?I already explained my reasons

and hey suprise suprise I want people inPoland to speak Polish!!!!
being of the same culture, as for religion and food it is ones choice, what do I care?

I dont know many Pakis/Indians walking the streets of the UK wearing turbans and all that seek and Hindu clobber anymore, the second and third generation are Brits and proud.

this is not what I saw in UK,

I am aware that some immigrants have good jobs, but the REALITY is the manual workers are needed and they are not good material for integration.

You are contradicting Yourselv by saying You want the diversity and then saying You want immigrants to be polonized, which one is it then?

As for Russians in ex CCCP countries it is a completely different story, when they moved there the land was Russian and they believe it should go back to Russia

My country is Poland my friend, and I am happy with it staying this way

You sound little looney, Your mentioning of Hitler just proves it

WB
I think We just have to agree to disagree, we have different priorities so we cant come to the same conclusion.
But just my last try:]
dont You think the world would be more intersting if You go to England and experience their culture and way of life, then go to

France, Kenia?intead of just more of the same everywhere?
btw, I am an atheist, but what I said doesnt mean I dont have respect ot love for other countries and cultures, it just meant I like to keep mine, and I definitely didnt like what i saw in the West

P.S it sound looney because whenever somebody doesnt agree with muliticultralism is called racist or hitler, it is soooooo over the top,

at least two million Polish immigrants at the moment

You lost one zero, i heard it is 20 million

We live in a world where 40% of the worlds wealth is owned by 1% of the population, where 50% of the planet lives on less than £1 a day

and so?You cant take everyone, wouldnt it be better to help them make their country richer?

Ohh the irony, i have 4 Polish shops within 10 minutes walk time to where i live right now, theres about 20 within 5 minutes drive time and Polands in the EU, we are making Poland a more wealthy country and lets not forget theres about 1,000,000 living and working in the UK.

With all due respect youre not really in a position to comment on immigration.

I already answered that, You dont like it- complain to Your goverment, it is Your country.

EU is helping Poland that and later when Poland is richer we will not need to emigrate to other coutries, so again wouldnt it be better to help the poor coutries?then again EU is not doing it for free, the smart countries like Germany use our membership to their advantage, having many companies on our market and buying out whatever possible. The money we get are not for free

OK so Poland was included within the EU (your words) for monetary gain, not based on ethics at all, what right has Poland as apposed to say Nigeria?

You are putting words into my mouth, I didnt say it was included for monetary gain what I said was, that we are not just recipients, do You understand Polish?I watcheda great interview with Rosati about the topic, I can try and find it for You.But Poland was also not included because of some ethics- they dont play big role in politics(understable) Poland and other countries were included because EU wants to expand, be big as possible and competitive to growing world superpowers. They invest now and gain later

ehmm European Union is stille in Europe isnt it?so what would Nigeria do there?

Its all digital in the UK (online), much better. I dont understand your argument.

I had the same problems as chichimera in UK, with administration, doctors, nobody gave a damn, my general about them was rude, uninformed, and unhelpful, and then I come here and You people are complaining about the same thing in Poland, I dont know maybe it is a immgrant treatment?

and CLEARLY the arrangement they have now is superior. I mean hey, it's POLAND people!

do You have anything interesting to say?how old are You?stop talking out o Your ass

based on logistics Poland's EU accession makes sense, based on economics not so much

I have already told You, the goal is to expand EU as much as possible on European continent, in 20-30 years Poland will be well off economically and then it will benefit the old EU.

unless you stuff a 100 Zloty note in their pocket

Delphiadomine is talking about it all the time, so I guess it must be some truth about it, but I have never given any bribe nor I heard about it, I always treated is as a myth, did You really gave a bribe to a doctor?

Nevertheless, I was never treated as badly as in Britain, but I was an immigrant there and they really made me feel as one, maybe the Brits are treated better.

How long have you been back, how are you readjusting to life in Poland? will you go back to the UK?

I was there 9 months and I am back for 4 years now, I never realy adjusted to life there, I was in Northampton which wasnt very nice, maybe if I tried London my experience would have been different, or maybe Your countryside which is stunning, no, I am not planning to go back

why even complain about people who might want to work and live there in the future?

bacause We are talking about the future?it is not such a distant one

That's why I said at least, which in this case, was a *very* modest estimation, to say the least.

oh come on, be more specific, everyone knows, there is no Poles in Poland anymore, so why understate the numbers, You dont have to be gentle with us, We dont need it as long as You are telling the truth...

News / Ustroń: Another giant religious statue in Poland [26]

The sad thing is that anyone that opposes such things are immediately blasted and labelled as some sort of Communist Jew - which is nonsense.

I wouldnt say that, Świebodzin was highly criticised, and it now becomes sort of a fashion to criticise religion and beliefs

I really hope that putting up giant Jesus statues doesn't become a fashion :(

I hope that too. I wonder why religious people cant praise god by building hospital?but on the other hand it is their money, and not my business.

History / Poland's biggest historical blunder? [341]

Britain knew full well but let it all happen as it was on the cards. Britain had been preparing itself for some time whilst

are You kidding?wasnt that a British prime minister who believed Hitler to be a "nice guy" it was the appeasement politics that led Hitler to believe that he can do anything and let him arm his army even though it was against the treaty of versailles. Britain was totally unprepared for the war, France was.

Tactics, just saving his own asss like "better them than us". ;)

why the League of Nations let Hitler arm his army on the first place?why did they let off the reparations?it wasnt tactics,it was weakness and unwillingness. In 1933 Hitler wasnt powerful, the appeasement was not necessary

News / Ustroń: Another giant religious statue in Poland [26]

The problem is that such criticism fuels those that want to put up such statues - and who in Poland would dare to refuse planning permission for such a thing?

those fueled by criticism are who?local parish, older. usually more devout people?they will moan to each other and that is it,oh, come on. The power is media and media will not be on their side.

I dont think refusing permission should happen if they build it on their land, with their money, for me they can have a statue of Buddah-none of my business. I may not like it, but to be honest I dont like even more the "enlighten"ones who will laugh off and label as backward everything connected to catholicism, such bahaviour is having upper hand in our so called intelectual elites. And, as I see it, both sides are the same and and as much intolerant

History / Poland's biggest historical blunder? [341]

if Poland was rewritting history then it would be current affairs not historical blunder-so, as I said before Your input is irrelevant.
I explained to You the treaty of Riga, I have seen people explaining You Czechoslovakia, but You ignore everything, and come back to it in every single topic, Why is that?what was wrong with my explanation of treaty of Riga that You didnt understand?

History / Poland's biggest historical blunder? [341]

What, exactly would you have liked Britain to do in September 1939 which it did not do?

did it do anything?why sign a treaty?to do NOTHING?

Plus the post-war ones for ethnic Germans and anybody who annoyed the government.

Yes, mostly Polish patriots, is there any logic in You?

Did you? A search shows that this thread is the first time you have even used the word 'Riga' on PolishForums.

here You have it(from Poland A and Ukraine B): it is unfortunate, and I always believed that Poland should apologised for that( as opposed to Vistula action), the thing is Ukraine was useless, they didnt manage to do anything, and Piłsudski who signed the treaty with Ukr was removed from power just after the war, Dmowskis conception of Poland and allies was totally different. As far as I know Piłsudski did apologise to Petluras soldiers, but he was just unable to do anything else. I agree with You on that- a big shame.

so, what do You think about that? You didnt answer, and just kept going with Your nonsense

Feel free to ignore that question in the traditional Polish way.

coming form You? a good one Harry
