Language / Free Polish Lessons On-line, looking for websites? [14]

Thank you very much! I've checked their webpage, the course seems to be interesting, and the price of the course quite rational.
The social plan also seems very entertaining, as you've mentioned :)

If I had any questions, I would e-mail you. Thank you for all your replies!

Why did you choose Cracow to participate in a Polish course?

Oh, I've heard that Cracow is very beautiful. Besides, I have few friends in Cracow, and I also want to visit them during my journey.

book Polski Krok Po Kroku

The sample lessons are interesting. Where does your friend work? Which school?

Language / Free Polish Lessons On-line, looking for websites? [14]

Hello, thank you for your help, I've tried both: the sample lessons from Polski Krok Po Kroku, and I registered at e-polish.eu few days ago. I've found the latter the most helpful and I'm still using the demo versions, but I think I'll buy further lessons.

I also started to use the e-polish forum, I've talked to Polish teachers. It's also very helpful.

Thank you once again for your recommendations.
How did you know about these websites?

Regards, annemb.

Hello, I would like to start learning Polish, and I'm preparing myself for a holiday trip to Poland, and participation in a Polish course in Cracow, but I was wondering, maybe you know some websites with free samples of Polish lessons, materials or books to study Polish?

Thanks in advance!

Language / Differences in Polish and English idioms [69]

I'm a beginner in Polish, and I was wondering where can I find lessons with idioms for my level of proficiency.
Is there a book which presents certain idioms with e.g. pictures, descriptions?

Thanks malwinaflower, you intrigued me with the topic ;)

Language / How to lead conversations with older people? (Polish course participant) [5]

Hi,
I would like to visit Poland during summer holidays and participate in a Polish course, but before I go there I want to ask people who know Polish language: how to lead a converstation with an older person? Is it similar to the conversation you lead with a person your age?

What does the conversation with your teachers look like? I don't want to be perceived as rude or too straighforward during my first contact with teachers at the course I'm going to take up.

Thanks for every answer!

Language / Differences in Polish and English idioms [69]

I recently heard a funny idiom in Polish: "Once in a Russian year" which in English sounds Once in a blue moon :-)

I wonder where did it come from...

Oh, and one more: "A roll with butter" means "A piece of cake".
I think these are quite common idioms, both in Polish, and English.

Language / Polish - individual classes or course? [15]

Thank you for all of your answers, I really appreciate it.

LwowskaKrakow, so which part of Hurra did you use and on what level your course was?
And where do you come from? Your nationality may be helpful you when acquiring Polish.

FUZZYWICKETS, it's really depressing what you're writing.. :( it's terrible that most of schools don't pay much attention to teacher's qualifications.

Anyways, I'm going to find that perfect one that suits me :-)

Language / Polish - individual classes or course? [15]

My friend recommended me the course in Glossa School.

And do you recommend this course?

Has anyone else been to Cracow to learn Polish? I'm trying to get as much information as I can, because I have my doubts whether to go to Poland alone or to find some Polish course near my hometown... I would be grateful for any help / advice / info. Best regards.

Language / Polish - individual classes or course? [15]

why do you want to learn Polish?

I want to learn Polish because my beloved grandma was from Poland - she came to England with her parents when she was only 4. I would like to know something more about Poland, Polish culture and the language.

Where, apart from Poznan, are good Polish courses? Have you heard anything about Cracow's or Warsaw's schools of Polish?

I've been in Poland for almost a month in August, the course was quite intensive, but I also aquired a lot of words from my Polish family where I stayed. I learnt from the book "Polish Krok po Kroku" (Polish Step by Step) on my course.

Where did you stay in Poland?

Hello, I want to start learning Polish, but I don't know what's best: going for a course or finding a good teacher and taking individual lessons? I was also wondering about going to Poland for Polish course - maybe some of you could advise me on the place or book? Thanks in advance.
