UK, Ireland / Poles in Ireland by Peadar de Burca. They "turned their backs on a country that gave them" [195]

Well, that's true, but Irish emmigration totally dwarfs Polish one. An estimated 80 million people
worldwide claim some Irish descent! That gives you idea of how many Irish emmigrated from
their country. It's as if 800 million people claimed Polish ancestry! Jesus Almighty!

Immigration into a small island nation of roughly 6 million is not the same in any way as Irish going to vast continents where they were crying out for immirgants. Look at a map of australia, canada, usa, how many times does Ireland fit into them.

Plus, we went because of the famine largeky and becuase literally we could n't feed ourselves...survival not greed like eastern european opportunists.

We went to nations which were made up of many races, we did nt;'t bombard small countires mercilessly and create crime etc and not bother to integrate. We made the USA what it is and also Canada and australia to a lessor extent.

What polish contribution been to Ireland, claiming benefits and committing heinous crimes.

Law / LOOKING FOR HELP AND INFORMATION TO OPEN INDIAN RESTAURANT IN POLAND..... [80]

Ireland is the promised land :-)

Ireland has alot of Indian restaurants. Alot go out of business as most Irish don t like spicy food.

Poles love diversity and different cuisines and you should do well there. They also have a hunger for greater multi culturalism and other races living in their country with many Asians increasingly living there

They don't buy into amateur sports.

It's amatuer for VERY VERY good reason my friend. I know poles don't buy into anything where they don t get money in return.

Look at soccer and and american sports how corrupt , boring and empty they have become. Gaelic sports are kept amatuer and always will be becuase that's how we want to keep them.

What other sport could a man play in front of 50,000 people live on tv and be back on a building site the next day or having a pint in his local with average joes. That's the beauty of the GAA and to be honest..the poles are poorer for not having their own native past times

If the Irish are so proud of their culture as you claim they are, why don't they speak their own language

Tá Ghaelige agam m'chara ach ar an drochuaur, níl mé liofa fós!. Labhraim giota beag Ghaelige gach lá agus tá an teanga ag teacht ar ais- I do speak Irish, not well but I'm learning as the majority of Irish people are.

At least Irish is a unique language not the same in whole or parts as neighboring countries. I heard a pole and a czech talking to each other such was the similarity of their "native" tongues. PoLish culture is a joke, it's basically the same as other eastern euope/russia. Ireland's culture is beautiful and unique beyond belief. So are our native people and country itself. That' why eastern europeans won t leave the place when they come here. They prefer it to their "motherland"

That's an excellent idea my friend. Although I am from Ireland I have many polish mates here in Ireland. They love indian cuisine in Poland and you should MOVE THERE WITH YOUR FAMILY.

N.B. Don't be put off by the od racist on here. They are not representative of the vast majority of Polish people :-)

Good luck in Poland!!!!!!!1

Recruited by Irish employers, very often with agents in Poland

No. mostly foreign owned meat factories you'll find. A brazilian factory owns one in my home town called Marfrig. It has dragged in 1000s of froeigners. Now the town is 70% non Irish at last census.

The local GAA club has put out fliers in russian or whatever speak they have but not one has comne to play our ancient sports of gaelic football or hurling. Far too concerned with stabbing people or selling drugs

And I'm not unhappy i can assure you. everyman has things he dislikes and I dislike excessive immigration. simples!

Why don't you brits create stricter rules so that you don't have to take us Poles for work anymore in your countries? Its better than this nagging surely!

I can 't speak for britain but becuase in Ireland £ is king. The multinational corporations drag immigrants in by the tens of thousands. Our ultra liberal media stifles any debate or dissent on the issue. Anyone who argues for moderation, is called a racist or xenophobe.

Irish identity is dead. I had a friend from america over for the summer. He remarked about how "un Irish" Ireland was from the last time he was here 10 years ago. I felt ashamed to bring him anywhere to be honest.

It's not the fact that there are immigrants it's the sheer numbers plus the fact that they don't integrate

Sounds a bit like England a few decades ago with all the Micks and paddies comin and nicking our brickying jobs........get a fookin loife

I thought that's why you brits have murdered, lied, cheated etc for centuries in Ireland, to keep Ireland british and them divide it so you wouldn't have to leave it.

You british deserve the mess your country has become as you went around the world trying to make half the world "british" at the barrell of a gun. What's wrong with the so-called britsh coming to "mother "england from your glorious colonies, including the Irish lol!

Ireland has never been a superpwoer, we're in fact still struggling for full nationhood as per the vast majority wishes of thes Irish people. We don't deserve mass immigration

When exactly were the Irish spilling their blood during the boom????

Go and read up on Irish history. I don't mind debating things with people as long as they have a bit of knowledge about what they are actually talking about.

Thomas Clarke, James Connolly , Padraig Pearse, Patsy O'Hara, Bobby Sands, Martin Hurson, etc etc etc etc etc.

These men did n't die for one fifth of their country to be still occupied in the 21st century nor did they die for this so -called "multi cultural" mess it has become.

although, i m a southerner, before people start saying that "northern" Ireland is british and different from the south ..some facts.

1. The last king of Ireland Hugh O'Neill had his castle in Dungannon, Co Tyrone, The remains are still there

2. Thomas Clarke, the first signatory of the Irish proclaimation was from Tyrone, north of Ireland

3.Brian Boru, from whom Ireland gets the Harp symbol was burried in Co Armagh north of Ireland

4. Saint Patrick, was a sheep herder in Antrim north of Ireland and is burried in downpatrick north of Ireland

5. The ancient sport of hurling was invented in Antrim north of Ireland

I could go on. If you say northern Ireland is british you should not celebrate St Patricks day, play hurling, use the harp symbol etc. The north is probably more historically signifcant than anywhere in the south here. The partition of Ireland was illegal and denied the democratic wishes of the Irish to be totally free. We should focus on this before allowing mass immigration

Typical of the blinkered, lazy attitude towards Ireland by foreigners.
Yes, the Irish ourselves were partly to blame but The foreign speculators in the Irish market and bond holders were also largely to blame in taking gambles on the back of the Irish taxpayer.

In addition, a countey with 4.5 million in the south and 1.6 million in the occupied north had over 2 million permanent immigrants dumped on her, all of whom immediately had babies and claimed benefits, whether they worked or not. It hardly helped the financial situation. If you stood outside my local benefits centre, it would open your eyes. It's like the United nations with immigrants coming and going with prams all day.

immigrationcontrol.org/news.html

As much as I may be unpopular, I speak the my mind and I speak for the most part alot of inconvenient truths. The vast majority of Irish (not the posh, over educated, inferiority complex leftist elites) would like to see less immigration and ALOT of foreigners sent home. Irish men and women did n't spill there blood for Ireland's culture and identity to be taken from her before we have fully gotten back the entire island nation for ourselves. Unlike Poland and other Russian colonies, we did n't get handed our (at the minute partial) freedom, we had to fight long and hard

Ireland4ever is one of those posters who always complains about Poles. I doubt he is typical of most Irish people. Every country has people who fear immigrants, and blame all their troubles on them. It is/was the same in the USA as each new wave of immigrants had stereotypes and prejudices to overcome

It's about moderation. Everything in life..food, drink, excercise have an appropriate or an inappropriate amount.
I have no problem with some eastern europeans BUT Ireland has turned in a 2nd and 3rd world dumping ground as a result of these greedy foreign owned factory corporations. Alot of eastern europeans are ok but alot of them alienate otherwise or previously liberal, decent Irish by their crime and their arrogant attitude towards Ireland and her people

irishtimes.com/newspaper/frontpage/2009/1124/1224259339934.html

They exploit the immigrants for THEIR OWN PROFIT. They are are not charities or humanitarians,, nor do they care about the health of Irish society or poland for that matter.

The meat factory in my home town (where I was born raised, etc etc.) is owned by a south american meat company which "boasts" over 12 billion dollars in profit per annum. Ask them to contribute to paying for the welfare, education or health care of foreigners who they dump on Ireland and they'll say "not our problem". It's the Irish taxpayer who foots that bill.

The poles I know just complain about Ireland and the weather.

1. The weather in Poland is horrible, I ve been there and in any case is caused by the curviture of the earth and pressure etc...not the country.

2. Poles who lived in Ireland for long time do not have even a basic knowledge of Irish culture or history or the Gaelic athletic association.

3. Poles react a serious amount of crime from petty thefts to serious assaults/murders. They also burden our health, education and welfare systems

Irish see them as just more foreigners speaking some horrible sounding mongrel language and who treat Ireland like doormat

Irish people say 'slag' for insult and 'eejit' for a stupid person. The GAA club is the hub of local communities and rural life especially relvolves around it. is that good enough

sadly for you teffle, you'll find that the Cumann Lúth chleas Gael is the biggest in terms of membership and affiliated clubs on the island nation and gives young and old a great outlet for FREE. my local club has teams for boys and girls in Gaelic footballand hurling and every night God send there will be a match or training at the local GAA grounds. Not like rugby or soccer where you pay for coaches and the use of facilities.

The fact that you do not accept the success of the GAA sopeaks volumes of your mindset and explains alot of your comments.

well at least I make an effort to learn Gaelige unlike most Irish people. Deamaim mo seacht dhicheall chun mo theanga a fhoglaim. Nach raibh sin ró ceart ach ta me ag fheabhsú

The GAA is the main sport in Ireland. What other sport gets more attendances. You're obviosly a west brit rugby fan probably from D4 who sucks upto immigrants especially poles due to some deep rooted inferiority complex about your own race/nationality

Most Irish don't even drink beer

The most popular drink is bulmers cider i think. I rarely drink Guinness myself nor do my mates. Too heavy

no.I have a right to free speech as do you. Everything I say may be unpopular but it is sadly true particularly regarding the polish problem in Ireland.

The Ireland that people pruport to "celebrate" on St Patrick's day DOES NOT EXIST AND PROBABLY NEVER DID i.e. leprauchaiuns and deedly didley music. The real Ireland is one of crime, corruption, excessive immigration and depressions. Honour Ireland by trying to make it better not patronize her and insult her with gimmicky Bull sh**

Irish people are just so easily bullied by the immigration extremists that they say nothing or make some vague remarks about "multiculturalism" whilst at the same time being horrfied by how our culture has been decimated over the last 10-15 years, slowly yet surely.

Think what you will. What I say is true. The best St Patrick's day gift would be an annoucenment that Poland had been invaded again and that ball useless poles have to return home to defend their 'motherland'. One can only hope and pray

If you are not irish you have no right to celebrate St Patrick's day. and I don't mean Irish in that you moved here from poland, Africa or paki land and had three kids so we can 't send you home due to Human Rights or some leftist ****

Poles are not driving up anything in Ireland other than the birthrate as they get pregnant within five minutes of arriving then leech off our wacky leftist welfare system.

I doubt that poles are inherently smarter than Irish. You could get statistics to prove anything you wanted. No race is smarter than another. I doubt that poles are smarter than Irish given the fact that their economy is still so pathetic even though they no longer have 'foreign occupation' to blame for their weakness

Re: St Patrrick's day. I love Ireland and I would love to see her reunified , Gaelic and free some day. I hate the hypocracy and fakeness of this day where people **** on my flag and country.

The same people (typically foreigners who want to such up to native Irish) buy a lepruachaun hat but would not support their local Gaelic athletic club or vote for an Irish republican party as they "couldn't be bothered"

As an Irishman I find foreigners attitudes to Ireland and St.Patrick's day insulting and patronizing. There is much more to Irish culture than drink. We have our own ancient sports Gaelic football and hurling as well as our own language, music, dancing etc . etc and we have contributed greatly to the world in very field.

youtube.com/watch?v=LG47uEiIIHk

Most Irish people don 't drink Guinness and enjoy alcohol IN MODERATION.

We have a very wide range of interests and although we enjoy a drink we do not any more so than any other race

Most Irish find it patronizing how people who don 't give a **** about Ireland pretent to be Irish and/or like it.

The best St Patrick's day gift would be for foreign leeches like the poles to return home and GIVE US THE REAL IRELAND BACK!! not this ugly bastardised run-down ****hole it has become

Off-Topic / How would Poles react to a visit from Queen Elizabeth? [72]

From what I've read, the majority of the Irish people living in the South don't want Northern Ireland. You do realise that "Britain" subsidies NI to quite a heavy extent - money that the RoI doesn't have

Yes. northern Ireland is essentially a communist state which is kept afloat by the brits money. It has no private economy and is a failed state. Ur agrument actually supports reunification. The division of Ireland has caused decades of bloodshed and misery and in the long run has done nobody any good north or south. No sooner had the north got over it s nightmare but we had boatloads of greed oppoertunistic ********* arriving taking away a country we had n'y even got completely back for ourselves

That's why there is an increasing wish for reunification on the island. A real hunger politically as well as an increased IRA presence which could strike at any time. If they held a 32 counties all island vote. it would be over 70 % for reunification

Believe me, watch this space. The queen's visit will cause nothing but trouble and embarrassment. They don ';t call us the fighting Irish for nothing

Off-Topic / How would Poles react to a visit from Queen Elizabeth? [72]

It's no wonder poland has been so eaqsily dominated by foreigners throughout it s sad history.

Facts-When Ireland was divided in 1922 the all-island wanted the brits to leave. Therefore the division was undemocratic.

2011-most Irish people north and south want a reunified Ireland.

Sinn Fein is the main party in the north. They are a united Ireland party.

The queen's visit is an attempt by the partitionist estbalishment in Dublin to normalise the british occupation of the north when in fact it will increase support for reunification and redicialize the still active IRA

If russia had divided poland in republic of poland ruled from warsaw and 'northern poland' ruled from moscow in 1992 instead of just leaving completely, how would you feel about a visit from the russian president?

Any self-respecting Irish person is appalled that the so-called Irish establishment will allow this while britain hold the 6 northern counties against the majority of the wishes of the Irish people. The same politicians who have allow Ireland to be raped by eastern european despots as well as third world immigrants over the last 10 years.

People talk about healing and forgettin the past...this is not the past. The british still occupy northern Ireland and as a result there will be opposition. The british army kept Ireland divided at the barrel of a gun.

The whole episode will be a further embarrassment for Ireland as the IRA (who are still very active) and republicans will stage physical and political protests, without doubt.

Genealogy / The typical Polish look, or all Eastern Europeans [656]

My son goes to primary school with loads of poles and other russians kids. You honestly can not tell a difference. Most yound children have blondish hair and then it fades to brown. This thread is thinly veiled racism. e.g. we are superior because our women dye their hair and we spend all day in the gym. Thats social reasons for any differences that may exist and nothing to do with superior races etc
