I think you get more friends for boobs than face, but I'll have to check the rules again...

...plus, 'boobbook' just sounds so crass y'know? (And it sounds like an Owl.)

Life / Will Polish people be accepting that im only half polish? [63]

Will Polish people be accepting that im only half polish?

Just go as yourself and you'll be treated accordingly...

If your distant ties to Poland convince you that you need make no effort to fit in when you get there, then I suppose that could be a mistake. Remember, you have never lived in that country and need to learn about it as any outsider would...

Your reasons for going there and your assumptions when you arrive may hinder any real value in your relocation. Just be open and tolerant... as you would act toward any outsider from your own neighbourhood... ;)

Polish are on the whole an educated people, and for reasons possibly directly related to their having not much experience with multiculturalism in their homeland, are, I guess, more curious and open to the idea of cultural assimilation than, perhaps, communities where the "reality" of multiculturalism has exhausted any real efforts for it to function in any idealistic sense.

Just give Poland a little more credit, that it will not just enthusiastically harbour individuals who prefer a white majority... more than it will say, harbour individuals who have gone to their country expressly because they have made this assumption...

But overall... Good luck. :)

Since when was the economy a reflection of the workers? I would say it's the other way around...

WAS I ADDRESSING THIS AT YOU???

NOT EVERYTHING IS ADDRESSED AT YOU!

Congratulations... you are the first one on my ignore list...

well, you replied to what I said to isthatu about some people calling us lazy. Which one of us got it wrong then?

You... but I sincerely don't care.

I'm allowed to engage in a conversation that you too are engaging in without you thinking everyone's contribution is an assessment of something you have said. My initial comment (#98) was in no way aimed at you... But you felt at liberty to make it that way. A car crash...

I mean if you scroll up GW you will see that you quoted me first.

Case closed.

By making those comments, you were basically denying the fact that it takes an effort of the entire nation to build the wealth of one country.

Yeah... but you fail to realise is that I wasn't directing *anything* at you... You came out all tears...
I don't have to defend sh1t to you. And I wasn't.

Now please read it all above and tell me if I couldn't get a notion

No. You interpreted my statement as being one implying laziness. You got it wrong. I've just had fun with you since.

At the end of the day, I, and you, will think what they like.

News / Multi-culti (in Poland) -- roadmap to disaster? [344]

They have no love or loyalty towards their host country or its people, but are there only to milk it for what it's worth.

Just like Americans have no love nor loyalty towards the people they steal from... including (if memory serves me correctly) the Mexicans.

If the Yanks had just let those southern territories remain in Mexico's dominion.. there would be little "immigration" to speak of... ;)

Technically speaking... Mexicans might feel *very* loyal...

Or do lost and conquered lands only affect Polish hearts...? ;)

wrong, I don't have to live here, I choose to live here and I enjoy it very much (that's my point).

*sigh* I am talking about the world GW... the all of it, with all its history and the consequences of it...

unlike Australia which used to be a huge prison for the extremely "desired Brits" back then, right? However, it was most likely a long time before your ancestors arrived there.

Then why can you show me no evidence that you have any sympathy, understanding or tolerance for those who are less fortunate than you, and whose ''misfortunes'' may in many real ways be related to your fortunes...? Just an acknowledgment will do.

Britain sent prisoners to America looong before King George had them sent down here..
In many real ways you have the highest proportion of men incarcerated than any other country in the world... today.

you're obviously not very happy about it, otherwise you wouldn't make that statement (below)

Don't make assumptions... I don't see it as *us* and *them*.. I see it that we are all interconnected and segregated by circumstance... If you're lucky, you're lucky... that is all.

So this...

: prosperity is a legacy of theft, luck, conflict, brilliance and greed.

Defends this...

the point that we are lazy.

..???

How so...?

No-one's saying you are lazy... and who's ''we''???

Hey, I'm guessing we're all doing the best job we can...?

Just because the job market has gotten idle and dumbed down... doesn't mean anyone else has.

This is what I said GW. (a little reminder)
Why take it out of context and throw.. this...

so according to you, us here in the western world are nothing but a whole bunch of underachievers and that's why we're (still comparing to others) so successful, right?

at me...?

I was not referring explicitly to Americans *or* westerners... just workers. Or if you didn't know, you can find them everywhere... :)

At least try to make a relevant comment to get any response.

I really have no desire to get *any* comment from you...

But I'm pleased that you tried. :)

Take away their social benefits?

I thought take-aways were big in Britain... ;)

It can (and will) mean that for instance muslims will live under sharialaw in the UK, and the brits will live under UK-law.

So basically it's kick out the Muslims! (But keep the Kebabs!!!) ;D

The whole argument really puts into perspective the whole notion of culture... how it changes, what influences it, and how resilient it is (how it wants) to change... (in reflection of a country's economics, politics, religion and wealth.)

poor girl, it must be a terrible feeling living among disgusting, aggressive thieves like us here. How can you take it? It must be seriously a very miserable life around people you despise so much.

Wtf are you talking about GW?

naive to believe that where you or your ancestors originally came from is a paradise on earth.

We are not even on the same tangent...
The kind of world we and our ancestors created is a world in which we *all* have to live...

That's my point.

yep, America is known for picket fences, lol The only problem is that you barely see them around. Not one fence in a whole wide area where I live. I wonder why? Is it because we steal so much here?
Hm, I've visited a very particular country in Europe where I've seen nothing but fences. It must be because there's no one stealing anything there, right? (naive to think otherwise?).

Fantastic, congratulations... one thing I will say about America is that you have definitely managed to segregate the undesirables...

Btw, I live in the Western world as well... not every mention of it is a reflection of your neck of the woods.

Wherever you live you live amongst it all...

Naive to think otherwise...

How tall are those white picket fences again???

well, not quite, my former generations actively helped to build it so I can claim to be a part of it too and I continue to build it now.

yeah and that's why a smart girl like you lives here (Australia, right?) and not where you originally came from, right? C'mon, you're smarter than that.

News / Multi-culti (in Poland) -- roadmap to disaster? [344]

What are you talking about ? All citizens of Poland have the same status as every other citizen, that goes for every state I suppose ....

As far as I know it can be very difficult for those working in UAE to gain full citizenship with full citizenship rights... and this includes a large majority of the population...

Immigrant workers in this region are largely marginalised and have great difficulty being treated as anything other than indentured servants, with no state benefits and basically tied to their employers in the nature of captives... their rights, extremely limited.

My point was that the status of immigrants in countries like Canada is far superior and far more genuine than other more dubious but equally wealthy states... and it is not to be taken for granted.

I guess where genuine citizenship rights exist, so does effective multi-culturalism and a pleasant place to relocate.
I know which place I'd pick.

Nah, it isn't. Anyway its the utopian socialist dream who should die its well-deserved death.

Well you should know that it is an ideal upheld by your very own adopted country...
Or did you forget that you moved to a nation full of immigrants who enjoy the same status as every other Canadian citizen...? Hardly a ''utopian socialist dream'' is it Bzi? (snot face)

I strongly believe that when in Rome, do as the Romans do.

What, enjoy universal health care, the great outdoors and drive around in big cars to the shopping mall...?
I wouldn't imagine Canada's exactly *impinging* on your deeply held cultural sensitivities is it now Bzi? ;)

News / Multi-culti (in Poland) -- roadmap to disaster? [344]

Up until recently it was regarded as 'politically incorrect' to question multi-culturalism

Big difference between ethnically diverse and multi-cultural...

If people have the same or similar values I would say that any extent of ethnic diversity can work... but where people do not share or have polarizing views on issues intrinsic to an open and shared society such as social wellbeing, human development, methods of progress, egalitarianism, access to education, tolerance of hatred and violence, abuses against minorities, women, animals, abuses against freedoms, fundamental ways to achieve health, happiness and livelihoods... then minority groups may be formed through immigration... Understandable really.

Don't get me wrong, any amount of ethnicity can bring good things to a country, not every modern society knows anymore how to care for its sick and elderly and can be a little dismissive of other family commitments, as well as to the care and time given to other aspects of life such as faith and healing...

But if the presence of foreign inhabitants causes great consternation or actually *generates* violence for those involved, then I would say there *is* a problem and something has to be done to bridge the gap... or people will just learn themselves how to deal with it. :)

But there are always good things learned from polarization too... we didn't come this far as a reasonably tolerant and open minded species without being able to adapt to *some* change... And where these changes present challenges, reflects the society into which those changes are being introduced more than anything else... ;)

In any case, they are mostly just teething problems and will continue to challenge and change societies worldwide whether we like it or not.

Basically what i'm saying is that people don't immigrate between ethnicities.. they immigrate between societies, and those societies are formed from shared beliefs and commonly held values... :)

Life / Are there a lot of goths in Poland? [36]

What is a Goth? A descendant of the Visigoth??

In that case aren't they *meant* to look like a marauding army...? A little barbaric...? Hard to subdue?

And if that *is* the case, it seems right that they should have followers from across Europe... they did after all migrate across large swathes of the continent...

The desire to appear to have darkened features might have something to do with the territories in which the Visigoths predominated... predominantly southern and Balkan territories... but Germanic in heritage which would explain their terrible dress sense, dubious taste in music and good looks... ;)

One thing is for sure.. they have well and truly outlived the Punks. ;)

News / Poland blocks carbon targets [11]

May you kindly read through the statement before you make any assumptions .

Sorry Monia, I studied Environmental Science and Ecology for 4 years... I know exactly what this is about.

Of course there are always two versions of the truth, but just a few extracts from your article strike me...

''before man inhabited the Earth.''

''At the end of the last ice age,''

Hmm... so the earth was once a fire ball with levels of Carbon dioxide much higher than present...? Don't you wonder *why* man didn't evolve in these conditions...? Other forms of life did, yes. But not Homosapiens... us. *This* is our niche...

Man has succeeded in a very short space of geologic time... in a period of constancy called the Holocene... Really. You can chart *all* man's progress in this narrow time frame. Epic.

" global warming " propaganda stirred by corrupted UN researchers who get millions of dollars for their worthless research long time rebuted by geologists who proved it has everything to do with Earth moving and other natural factors .

Not all reasons for climate change or their phenomena are fully known yet. Yes. We are still learning about the ways in which we are altering the planet...

Ever heard of the Anthropocene...?
Unfortunately... All we know is the past... but we weren't around then. That was a different world.. a different time. And sometimes our *own* priorities don't always seem to be our long term survival...

And anyway, this article seems to be saying that because we don't know *everything* about this issue, we should discount our contribution and carry on as normal...

Do you agree with that?

I think we can all agree with the underlying statement of this article... but not if it is to defend apathy, or worse.., business as usual! As it is almost *certain* that man has had an impact on climate change... read the IPCC report... That is the least bound by political bias.

The fact is we *don't* know how we will adapt.. But studies of other species present a case that doesn't look too promising...

Of course we have money and an *ability* to migrate... But how *mobile* are we...? Society is severely stratified... this leads to underlying problems of climate justice. Who will allow future mass migration if necessary...?

We are bound by our physiology *and* our psychology...

But we are like herds on the plains of time... And it *may* be getting short...

Natural and man-made factors.. ;)

We're trying to push through a Carbon Tax... Though by the sounds of it I think it might hurt people more than starvation and drought...

Hey, either way we're going down. Brazil are selling the Amazon by the pound... And as the world's fifth largest economy, good luck to them.
