History / Today is the 1st of September (WWII start in Poland) [138]

Hitler let alll greek prisoners of war free as a recognition of the braveness of the greek soldiers

It makes no sense, you keep your brave and dangerous enemies locked up, enemies you don't afraid you let go, saving costs&bother of in-keeping.

Off-Topic / Does anyone else find Cygans fascinating? [60]

No!
You are a strange girl.

For something that will last the moment
plant a flower
For something that will last a lifetime
plant a tree
For something that will last for eternity
plant a church :)

USA, Canada / PolAms -- do you regard yourselves only as 'white Americans'? [187]

The fact that North America was the only place where Jaroslaw Kaczynski won should tell you a thing or two ;)

It does tell me thing or two but only about you:) Your criteria of evaluating people according to their political choices is "nice" but tricky - lack of objectivity.

Life / Any treatment centres for homos in Poland? [455]

My post number 133 from above thread.

Is it? When spanking the monkey everyone understand everything perfectly, but when other people's emotions and identities are involved we become dumb. Why is that?

Well, it was hard for me to understand as I'm not well educated and not that smart, your question is very good indeed.
I was going to give an example from my life but I think it would be too personal.

I am very calm.

Good for you, no reason to be otherwise :)

I think is matter of perspective, Confederates were called rebels, yet they viewed themselves in totally different light. The same is with Poles, I think, they used to view dissolution of Poland as occupation, at the end of the day, does it really matter?

History / Today is the 1st of September (WWII start in Poland) [138]

Edit: the discussion is on topic, as the invasion of Poland was part of the GWOTTC. And besides, my question whether there was a commemoration or not has been answered.

Gee I'm be damned but I have no clue what are you talking about!

What's wrong with 1st of September?

Good question, call me stupid but I would say that it is off topic !

Louis 14 never washed himself and was the inventor of perfume)

Surly nothing wrong with that, but then again that commemoration goes year after year - wouldn't it be better to concentrate on polish achievements or polish victories, I found those commemorations a little depressing.I think that aim of such commemorations should be to uplift the nation spirit not to put it down.

I know that celebrations - commemorations of the 1st September were carried out during the time of communist regime in Poland - maybe it was their socio-technical and devious way of keeping Poles and their spirit down ?

Sorry Bzibzioh, no offence ....

Lyzko

To tell you the truth Jews aren't viewed in positive light in many places of the world.

I would definitively advise him or her to watch "Mississippi Burning" by Allan Parker. Great film about what happens when racism gets out of hand

Well, I'll not agree whatever film was great or not, but surly you cannot based your knowledge about facts on the entertainment industry.
There is more to the story - anyway let it be it was in 1964.

I mean common sense - as I wouldn't go to certain areas of my-hood at night time.
Well, it would be nice what you are saying (postulate) in your above post but we are discussing real life here.

So I am guessing its pretty much safe to say that being cautious will by far be anyones best asset in unknown or potentially unfriendly territory.

That is correct and it goes for everyone :)

Thanks!

I think that polish towns are safer in general than US towns, however you could encounter some people with less than friendly attitude.

Its up to you really.

Surly there are more than one way of homosexual act, I don't understand why everyone always concentrate on the annal way. Having satisfying blissful fulfilment in any which way is the key to peaceful and happy life.

Life / Any treatment centres for homos in Poland? [455]

I wasn't aware that homosexuality is an illness.
I think that certain percentage of the population tend to be strictly homosexual and the same is true for heterosexual. Most people however are bisexual, their naturaltendency is only behavioural training .

I hope that my words make sense, I mean no harm.
