News / Polish People STILL denied US Entry [96]

Poland has been America's historically staunch ally and fellow fighter for freedom, but despite the close ties between the two countries, the Polish are often denied entry to visit relatives in America. Citizens of every member of the EU can travel freely to the USA without a Visa except Bulgaria, Romania, and Poland. And Poland has paid her dues.

History / What connects Poland with Vlad Impaler or to say Vlad Tepes or simple Dracula [43]

Crow

Crow, do you have historical evidence of the quote? I have seen Misericors, Pius et Justus on ancient insignia, but the below only on internet. Can you confirm if this was used during the reign of Order of the Dragon?

FROM THE CHAOS

THERE IS ORDER.

FROM THE ORDER

THERE IS THE DRAGON.

WITH THE DRAGON

THERE IS VICTORY.

HAIL DRAGON! HAIL VICTORY!

Law / Im a Chicago Pole that may marry girl in Poznan (love / EU membership) [10]

So I would have to live married in Poland for three years to gain Polish/EU Citizenship?
So I'm not more enthusiastic, I suppose I just write in a dry manner. I am 27, and she is 20. We facebook, skype, and text constantly everyday. I love everything about her, and figured I have not found a significant other here in Chicago, then why not Poland.

I am 3rd and 4th generation Polish-American, with my ancestors living in Russian and Austrian Poland, so the chance for dual-citizenship that route seems ruled-out.

I appreciate all responses

Law / Im a Chicago Pole that may marry girl in Poznan (love / EU membership) [10]

I met online.
Half the reason is love, half the reason is to gain EU membership and Polish citizenry.
She told me we would have to be married 5 years for me to gain Polish citizenship.
I will meet her in September as she is my date for my cousins wedding in Puck
Im thinking about just marrying her as she is hot and smart, and would make me more Polish.
Any advice or experience? Anybody?

Tatars

Tell me about them...are existing communities drastically different than native Polish populations?

Off-Topic / Book: Gogol's Taras Bulba [37]

Anybody interested in the history of Zaphorizian Cossacks should read the Novella Taras Bulba...historical fiction that places you in the world of the freewheeling Cossacks, and their conflicts with Tatars and Polish nobleman...

Travel / Gniezno - the hardest city to get around? [3]

Will be visiting "The Nest" in September along with Poznan and Krakow. Me and my family speak hardly any Polish and all, and figure that Gniezno will be the hardest city to get around in as it is off the beaten path and probably has little tourist activity.

My great-great grandmother was born in Gniezno in 1876 and we believe came from Aristocracy.
Can anybody recommend a reasonable hotel? Are there decent hostels there? Places to eat and visit? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
I've been facebooking native Gniezno residents as well

-James

I've read much of the city via the internet, but was hoping somebody could share personal insight of Gniezno. Opinions, experiences, places to recommend, etc.
