My Grandfather Marian Jaworski was conscripted by the Russians in 1907-1908 to serve in Turkey. He returned to Dombrowa Duza in 1909 and married my Grandmother Anotnina Nowak (Gory) Could anybody tell me what the conflict in Turkey was at that time Bill Baron

Genealogy / Going to Poland to make a genealogy trip [5]

About sixteen years ago we traveled to Poland. We contacted a Rev. Andrzej Sapata, Director ARchiwum Kurii Metropolitanej in Krakow. He was very helpful in locating relatives around Krakow. I don't know if he is around anymore. Address UL. Francizkanska a 31-004 Krakow. I hope this is of some help to you. I'm pretty sure if he is not there someone has replaced him.

you would think that when one seeks info on a family search, they would a least acknowledge that the info was received and was either helpful or not

Genealogy / Baran, Wygrzyn(Wengrzyn) [2]

Several years ago I received Baptismal Certificates from a priest who was responsible for the Krakow Archives. These Certificates were for Jan Baran my great uncle (son of Jan Baran).Anna Baran my Great aunt and Mariana Jaroz my future Great Grandmother. All were baptised at Wniebowiecio Najsw Mariya Panny in Oswiecim town of Brzenzinki. I suspect that the Wengrzyn's had close ties to the Baran's from information I gathered from U.S. census. I'm looking for any information on the Baran;s and Wengrzyn's

i.e marriage, birth, death etc on these two families from the parish. I have written to the parish and have included a donation to the parish but no luck any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Jaworski

Several years ago I received some documents from Poland ie. birth,death certificates.
In the remarks section (on several documents) was and item (for example) Jan Jaworski copy holder and carpenter.(in english) Can some one tell me what a copy holder was Thanks Bill
