Yes... We weren't the ones who smuggled millions of slaves out of Africa, feeding sharks along the way with the bodies of those who didn't survive the "journey" in the hold. We weren't the ones who experimented with crossbreeding blacks with Irish to produce strong, hardy, but dumb and docile human cattle. We were not the ones who destroyed millions of buffalo and left them to rot on the prairie so that the American Indian tribes would be forced to leave or die out and vacate the land. We didn't "gift" them the blankets of dead smallpox patients. We didn't chop off hands for failing to meet raw rubber harvesting standards in the Belgian Congo. Ru logic - in 1991 in independency declaration Ukraine declared itself non-block country and in another agreement agreed to hand all former USSR foreign property to Russia in exchange to be free from their share of USSR debts. No agreements was made about Sevastopol and naval base that was never handed to Ukraine and stay subject of USSR subordination till last days (and not included in recognition, of course). Russia recognizes Ukraine independency on that conditions (without Sevastopol).

Later: Russia paid USSR debts in full, but Ukraine never handed any of USSR foreign property to Russia as agreed. Ukraine declared Sevastopol Ukrainian, and that was never recognised by Russia, though separate agreement divided USSR Black Sea fleet to Russian and ukrainian parts. Ukraine removed non-block status from their Constitution and put intent to join NATO there instead (m0rons) and started systematically to break agreements that was achieved earlier.

Question: Ukraine has changed the key factors that were declared when Russia recognizing its independence, and has become a threat to Russia, in fact selling its sovereignty for hypothetical future NATO membership. Should Russia continue to consider itself bound by the previously achieved recognition of Ukraine's independence under completely different conditions?

Russia tend to stick a Roman principle you just quoted with partners that do the same. But in that case, partner failed (and probably not planned at all) to implement agreement they signed initially.

You see wrong image. Russia is completely sovereign state, and any problem is discussable directly with Russia. And it is much cheaper to make a deal about mutual security and any possible problems with minorities than to allow situation to come to a urkaine variant. Especially if all questions was about restoring initial conditions that was in declaration of independency, nothing really new.

BUT... Poland and ukraine lost their sovereignity, and their signatures under documents is worth near zero (round zero in case of ukraine). Ukrainian delegation in Stambul openly said that "you have one boss, but we have three, and everything must be approved by all three"... As you can see, one of bosses come from London and said "you will fight"...

"Three bosses" not need world peace, it means stop of cash flow to MICC shareholders (very respectable families, of course) and a lot of question from citizens like "where is our tax dollars?"....

So, if country with nukes (or in a few steps before obtaining them) will continue to have "multiple bosses" - it may be more reasonable to do something unusual, up to finishing that statehood and divide territory between more sovereign and predictable neighbours.

Kanja.... Please choose another way to make me laugh. Option a) mean external control in political and military sphere. Option b) is nearly impossible, because there is no trust, that would allow to believe that you will really became neutral after getting nukes instead of becoming someone's else "torpedo with nuclear warhead". As I see, there is no option c) that would mean first become neutral and then get nukes. ;) I understand, if some of your politicians suddenly will stop saying regular mantra about "euro-atlantic solidarity", it will have problems even before next electional cycle.
