News / Building regional alliance to stabilize Eastern Europe. [200]

....that too!

On the other hand Germanic tribes lived in these lands since ever!

...Archaeologists usually associate the earliest clearly identifiable Germanic speaking peoples with the Jastorf culture of the Pre-Roman Iron Age in central and northern Germany and southern Denmark from the 6th to 1st centuries BCE.....

So we are not like the kind of british, french or spanish colonialists in South America or somewhere on the globe.....

About that....interesting info:

....The considerable number of Slavic surnames in German - estimates range between 15% and 35%1 - is a clear sign of our close ties with the Slavs. A significant proportion of these names originate from Sorbian, although the exact distinction from Czech and Polish names is not always clearly possible. The names of national soccer player Michael Ballack and Saxon Prime Minister Stanislaw Tillich, for example, are certainly of Sorbian origin. The latter is Sorb and also speaks Sorbian. Very early on, however, Sorbian names were simply translated in official documents. Thus, Šewc became Schuster, Kowar became Schmidt, Krawc became Schneider, etc., and this was usually the first step toward complete assimilation. While only modest remnants of the Sorbs live in Saxony and Brandenburg today, their numbers and settlement areas were, of course, considerably larger in the past. This is evidenced not only by personal names, but also by place names such as Bautzen, Cottbus, etc., as well as by many watercourse names. An important historical source for Sorbian personal names are the various written sources such as court records, church registers, etc., some of which date back to the 14th century......

On the other hand....I have my doubt that Sorbs = Serbs!

News / Poland's aid to Ukraine if Russia invades - part 20 [1526]

Surprising proposal: Putin wants to place Ukraine under UN administration

bild.de/politik/ausland-und-internationales/ueberraschender-vorschlag-putin-will-ukraine-unter-uno-verwaltung-stellen-67e5d190f350b21d61b1d3bc

Russian leader Vladimir Putin (72) has proposed placing Ukraine, which he attacked, under United Nations administration in order to hold elections.

"Such a practice exists, and in principle, the possibility of temporary UN administration can, of course, be discussed with the United States, the European states, and - of course - also with our partners and friends," Putin said during a meeting with sailors on a nuclear submarine in Murmansk. The goal is to hold democratic elections, in which a capable government comes to power to conclude peace.

"With this government, we will then begin negotiations on a peace treaty, sign legitimate documents that are recognized worldwide and are secure and stable," Putin said.

Putin reiterated that Russia prefers a peaceful solution - "but not at our expense." He is ready to negotiate - including with the Europeans. But Russia will not be deceived.

Hmmm......could it work? What outcome is he expecting in that election??? 😬

News / Poland's aid to Ukraine if Russia invades - part 20 [1526]

(and Germany) thought that if they're nice to russia that russia would start to act like a normal country

And we had such a nice mantra for that policy: "Wandel durch Annäherung" (Change through rapproachement?)

Hach ja....but yeah.....from a certain difference it looks like pure business greed nicely packed in faked idealism...but to invent that was admittedly a smart move. It took it's time to blow up and made alot of people meanwhile quite rich!

News / Nukes and Poland's Neutrality [99]

A win-win-win-win (the EU, Russia, the USA, the world) situation.

Well then....that sounds to good to pass, I'm with you all the way! *squeezes thumbs*

Strong, nuclear Poland, would be an insurmountable obstacle on their way.

"Strong, nuclear, pro-western Poland"....I agree.

Just imagine a pro-russian Poland with Moscow's thumb on the button....

News / Nukes and Poland's Neutrality [99]

How would these nukes hinder a pro-russian gov in Warsaw to order pro-russian policies?

We would probably be Russian friendly, because why not?

.....because that's the crux of the matter, isn't it? Neutrality in this region means russian-friendly!

And right now that means Putin-friendly....with all that this entails.

Poland fears a russian-friendly Germany for good reasons.....a russian-friendly Poland wouldn't be much different for Polands neighbours, think about it.

a neutral Poland wouldn't be such threat.

Won't it?

Why wouldn't it......if a neutral Poland would be the only bloc on it's way to the rich grounds of western Europe?

Do you really think they will leave you alone? Not even manipulating their ways into a russian-friendly gov in Warsaw with a pro-russian foreign policy???

near impossible to go through and with nukes

Heh:) I had exactly that image in my mind too.... :)

But a Switzerland would find ways to keep its nukes and still its neutrality....such a ignorant and egoistical neighbour would find ways to negotiate a way through for the Red Army, maybe offer them their streets or such, that's the thing!

Also, we can't be 100% neutral while being a member of the EU

I speaking as a German here....and trust me, there would be many Germans who would cheer on a military strong and economically powerful Poland as a good neighbour.
It would strenghten Germany and the EU as well....it is the current never ending crisis which is keeping us confused and quite helpless!

But true too....an ignorant and egoistical second Swiss nobody needs or wants!

That's the plan anyway. :)

Just don't let anybody talk you out of them again....always remember what happened to Ukraine as they just wanted to be nice!

BB would you like to add something?

...sorry....

The big question - I suppose - is does it produce a net positive gain for Germany over the long run.

Alone the fact that admission would mean total open borders to millions of move-willing Ukrainians must be the stuff of nightmares in the Reichstag right now.....even if the Industry would cheer that would mean the AfD ruling afterwards.

So what I think Orban would want in exchange for lifting a veto

That is super interesting, I didn't know that....

But still...there is the big question of the monetary support. Usually Germany would be on the forefront, with all counting on Germany to take over the biggest part of the cost...buuuut that was during better times. Now are not so great times and we have to scratch together the Euros to get our own country working again....that is just not the time to take on additional huge costs which come usually with rebuilding a country up to EU standards, not to mention a country destroyed by war.

I would not underestimate that part.....

It is a virtual certainty that Ukraine will join the EU.

I know at least of one country which will veto it....Hungary!

But there will be more, alone thinking of the EU budget.....

but not NATO.

Even as it starts to sound like a bad record: a NATO membership was never in the cards!

That's all made up by Putin to justify his invasion....

Corrupt, dysfunctional, and war-torn Ukraine is literally being dragged into the EU.

It is not "dragged", it never was....or it would be already a member.

Every EU member knows that the rebuilding would cost the EU again Billions....and an admission has to be unanimous! That just never happened....

That's also Turkey 2025!

You German worshiper are just a disgrace

Nobody demands worship, Iron.....aber imagine the whole of Poland acting like you do....wouldn't it be a wonder if Germany looks to Russia instead? Is that smart?

Kinda "self fulfilling prophesy".....I treat him like sh****t and you will see how he acts like a traiterous bastard.....or something like that.....

Well, BB, Türkiye was the only country in Europe that refused to recognise the partition of Poland.

Yeah....I admit.....that has to count for alot!

I wouldn't forget about it either.....maybe they really have a better "chemistry" than others....
