History / Lobau, West Prussia. Is this now Lubawa in Poland, or Lobau in Germany? [7]

Hello,
I have a marriage in Berlin Germany 1884 and the birthplace of the bridge says Lobau West Prussia. The genealogist that found this certificate told me that is now Lubawa Poland. However, someone else told me it was Lobau Saxony. How can I be sure?

Any help would be appreciated. Or any history online that could help me learn more or photos of that time in mid 1880s.

Hello,
Does anyone what happened to those 2 censuses of poland one was 1882 and then 1892. I believe Warsaw.
Where would I find them?
For genealogy purposes.

Genealogy / Finding Sielce tobacco factory 1850s (Poland) [4]

HELLO,
I am trying to find someone that worked in a tobacco factory in the 1850s time frame. The family was in tobacco. He is connected as a father in law to someone that was also a tobacco manufacturer in Plock.

Does anyone know about Sielce as this was the place of the factory and I was hoping for some history or information about that place.

Genealogy / TOWN OF CIEMNOSZYJE [2]

HELLO,
I have just found an ancestor that was married in a village called Ciemnoszyje in Augustow Gubernia which was later called Suwalski. I have done some reading about that.

I cannot find though if this village was is in poland or russia? I need a good map. The time of marriage was 1847.
Can you confirm any of this for me.

Genealogy / The Belweder Palace (Amann / Chrzanowska) [2]

Hello,
I have been here before but have some new information and would really appreciate if anyone can help me? In looking for an ancestor, I have found the birth certificate of someone who was born at 1721A Aleja Street in 1847. Name Bronislawa Amann. Her Father was Jan Amann and mother Jozefa nee Chrzanowska.

Now I was told by an genealogist who is search for Bronislawa's daughter (born later in (1886) told me that address is the Belweder Palace. Jan Amann the father was a restorer/conservator of the Royal Park of Lazienki. The State owned this palace in those years and mortgaged parts out to people, perhaps workers of the park.

The story I have in a biography book is that when Bronislawa married Adolph Jan Gronland they had little Josephine and lived in a palatial estate on a hill overlooking Lazienski park. When I went online I saw that this Belweder palace does that. Now I realize they did not own it or live in the whole thing. Bronislawa and Adolph whose named sometime in those years changed to Count DeCroix. Lived with the grandmother.

My question is this, is there any way I can find out more about who lived there since with this information?
Also Adolph was a Tobacco Manufacturer.

There are accounts in little Josephine's journals that she would watch her parents dancing in a big ballroom with soldiers etc around. That would be approx. 1890 to 1891.

Is there a book or something. I have been everywhere and cannot seem to get anything. If there is anyone on this forum that can guide me. I would absolutely be estatic as it has been a long search.

FINDING PROPERTY OF A COUNT 1800S

Hello again,
I am getting ready this week to go to warsaw. I want to find an estate that was owned by a count. The same as I have been searching and mentioned to you all before. Count Adolph Gronland Decroix. We have records of of them living in a big estate with a ballroom. There were soldiers visiting him and a wedding happened in this place. (Autobiography of Trust)

Now we will see if we can find this place. Where do we go exactly for this kind of information?
I have some addresses already for other things like birthplace etc.
Since we only have 2 weeks.

Well I am not a pro. But we have a 4 star hotel called the Mercure Grand. Seems very central and the reviews are really great. Everyone says super clean and nice people there.

How much do I give to the people who take our luggage in the hotel to the room.
Also the taxi when I arrive at the hotel. What is acceptable.

I know that clerks take your luggage at the hotel and I want to be sure I have the right change when i arrive to tip him.

Travel / WHAT TO WEAR END OF JUNE FIRST WEEKS OF JULY IN WARSAW [25]

Well I am on my way in 3 weeks to Warsaw to do some genelology work. Since airlines are reducing weight. What should I wear.
I will take jeans, shirts and pants 3/4 length. Casual. Will that be ok? Also can you tell me do I need a jacket or a sweater? Will that suffice.?

What are the usual temperatures for then. I hate lots of rainy days but sounds like that is what to expect.

Oh another question. Is changing American Dollars at airport a good place to do it.

I havent got it to scan, but I can assure you that the letters are very plain, in fact the handwriting is very nice done by the Court clerk. That was another thought I had maybe he wrote what he heard and the spelling could be different. I will check Russian names, or Prussian.

Do you know where I can go when I get to Warsaw next month to check this kind of thing. We have only 14 days so everyday needs to be productive.

Yes I am sure about De Among, because the woman scientist we are trying to trace through her parents names put that name on a marriage certificate in Los Angeles in 1936.

Yes Adolph Gronland was born in Sweden but was a french count. You say that you have that name in your family, well maybe there is a connection way back?

This name DeAmong just baffles me. Yet Bronislava the mother was born in Poland and in Warsaw.

I know that there is a story of the family having problems because of the Russian soldiers that entered the Church they were and that the aristrocrats where being somewhat persecuted at that time of which they were. This was around 1875 more or less. So the Russians where in Warsaw during that time.

So even the first name Bronislova isnt polish? Now I wonder if there was a town or place
named DeAmong. As I did some research and found that whatever group was ruling poland and in this case it would be French at that time period.

We are certainly having a dead end on this search. thanks for your help just the same.

I wonder if De Among seems French to me but I know for sure her name was DeAmong and she was from Poland. Her husband was Adolph Gronland DeCroix a count that is sure. Oh boy what a mix.

Thank you very much for the interesting map. I am really trying to find a family in med 1800s that were from a long long of counts and countesses. The trouble is where exactly did they live? Since the countess lived in the mid 1850s giving birth to the one I seek in 1886. I want to go to Warsaw in June and see if I can find the name. But the place is going to be a big challenge since the country kept changing.

Genealogy / DeAmong, DeCroix - Finding a countess [15]

I am looking for a countess with the name that I have as: Bronislava DeAmong,
born in Poland no date but it would be somewhere mid 1800s as she died around the late 1800s. She married a man born in Sweden and his name is Adolph Gronland DeCroix.

This countess is the mother of Josephine Gronland DeCroix, (this is whom I am seeking more information on)

This countess died very young. I have no other information but am looking. It is understood that she came from a long line of countesses and counts. Perhaps when she was born she is connected to Russia in some way due to the changing of border lines back then.

I am looking for a countess with the name DeAmong family name. Born in 1880s so Poland borders would be different perhaps a russian name please can anyone direct me? I am looking for the name DeAmong a family name connected to arisoticrats of Poland during the 1800s. The grandmother lived in the mountains, had this old name. The first name sounds ok but the second doesnt seem polish. Perhaps there was a town with that name? We know that French DeCroix married this woman Bronoslovia DeAmong.

Maybe the French were in that area then. This would be 1850s to 1900.

If anyone can help me with the name. I am coming to Poland in June to search for this name and people. Thanks so much.
