Real Estate / Renting a property and the notice to quit. I need tenants to vacate in order for a family member to move in. [5]

Hello. Just wondering if anyone might be able to help me. In a nutshell, I rent out a flat in Poland. The tenant, a single male, in general is okay, but sometimes late with their rent. Their tenancy expires at the beginning of March and I need them to vacate in order for a family member to move in. I am based in England and over here, you have to serve a tenant with a Section 21 notice to quit the property. Just wondering if anyone knows how it works in Poland? Do I have to inform them to leave at any point? Thanks for any advice that anyone may have.

Real Estate / Cost of a flat refurbishment per sqm in Poland [18]

Merged: Renovating a flat in Poland

Hi. Just a quick one. Has anyone ever renovated a flat in Poland? I am thinking about buying a flat as the price is rather good but the flat does not have a bathroom or a toilet. Does anyone know roughly how much it would cost to install a bathroom? Any ideas or thoughts on this would be greatly received. Thank you.

Law / Child Support Advice - starting a case in Poland from the UK? [5]

Thank you very much Teagas that's good to know. The child starts school in England in September so my friend would be able to prove that his child couldn't be a resident in Poland. I would also include the fact that the mother works in the UK and claims tax credits etc. Thanks again.

Law / Child Support Advice - starting a case in Poland from the UK? [5]

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone on here can give me some advice with regard to child support. Two years ago a friend of mine moved to the UK seeking a better life. His wife and daughter stayed in Poland with the intention of joining him once he had organised everything e.g. accommodation, benefits etc. However, she never made it to the UK, instead she fell in love with another man and remained in Poland. She divorced my friend then took him to the family courts in Poland and demanded 1500 zloty a month in maintenance. Fortunately, he found himself a good solicitor and only has to pay 400 zloty a month. Bearing in mind he has a minimum wage job.

Another friend of mine split up with his partner last year, they both live in the UK and have a three year old child. His ex-wife wants to remain in the UK, however, my friend would like to return to Poland. He would like to bring their child over to Poland during the summer holidays. The problem he has is with regard to maintenance. His ex told him that if he returned to Poland she would take him to court there and try to get as much as she could from him. My question is:- If you are a resident parent and reside in the UK, can you open a case in Poland? Would the Polish courts not tell her that this is a case for the CSA in her resident country? I appreciate any assistance that anyone might be able to offer. I know that he should seek legal advice which I am sure he will, the reason I ask is that some posters on here are very knowledgeable when it comes to issues like these. Thanks in advance.

Work / English tutoring help - do we need the TESOL certificate to work in Poland? [33]

It is hard. You've even posted yourself that you aren't earning enough to live during the summer months - is that really what you'd call "easy"?

On the contrary I have a more than comfortable disposal income, however, I inherited a flat over here and need to invest a substantial amount of money to renovate and refurbish it. For a couple of travellers who are looking to have a fun time, they will be fine.

I bet when the next person who enquiries on here, you'll say the same as always.

If you have nothing positive to say why not just keep your trout mouth shut, people can find out themselves, instead of painting a bleak picture. Maybe you're scared of younger competition.

40-50zl in a decent school, sure. But what decent school is gonna hire a 22 year old with no experience and no teaching certificate?

Celta course and sometimes it's better to hire someone with no experience then an old, antique who has picked up bad habits over the years.

Easy? not really. Most people are looking for teachers who have been here and know the score. You can always work for peanuts, but don't expect anyone to take you seriously. You'll also find that most people won't take a 22 year old seriously - you're just too young. For some reason, Poles prefer older teachers.

Q. Delph is the glass half full or half empty, pessimist or optimist?

A. With Delph always half empty and the biggest pessimist on this site.

Every time someone comes on here about work it's always, " You'll find it hard". Yawn.
There is plenty of work here, I assure you that you'll find something.

Oh how old are you Delph. Let me guess 45 D.o.M ( Date of Menopause?)

Travel / A good kebab place in Warsaw? [45]

I know it is not exactly healthfood, but a good kebab can be tasty, if eaten with moderation :)

Exactly, just like everything in life!

Work / What do English Teachers do during the summer for work in Poland? Jobs for teenagers? [6]

Crikey you must be on good money then!

Related: JOBS FOR TEENAGERS KRAKOW

Anyone know of any jobs for teenagers in Krakow for the summer? Or where to look? My daughter's done a lot of walking with little success:((

Sorry, but that sounds a little risque! Questions: how old is your daughter, what kind of work does she want/can she do?

Can i go to Poland for the summer and find a job

im in college learning polish and it is very hard to learn it, so is this going to make my chances very limited or impossible. if anyone could tell me what website to go to so i can find info. im saving for plane ticket now and def want to go there for the whole summer. thanks.

It's not difficult. I got a job out there with no knowledge of Polish whatsoever. Plus it's busy in summer with lots of tourists so your knowledge of English will be useful in any hospitality place and tips will be good with it being busy. I am not sure about English schools and wether they stay open all summer, but I think they are so you can go into English teaching. I would check out gumtree for jobs (and accommodation).

Work / What do English Teachers do during the summer for work in Poland? Jobs for teenagers? [6]

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone could give me some ideas about what to do this summer for work. I currently work at a language school but at the end of June the school shuts for the summer break. Last year I did a summer camp, but I'm not so sure this time as it only provided employment for a month and the pay was not great. I have considered going back to Britain for these months and maybe working behind a bar etc. If anyone can give me a few suggestions I would be very appreciative.

Thanks in advance

Hey. better you shut your mouth

A real gentleman. Who is the lucky girl to meet such a well mannered young man like yourself - probably some bint from a village with a fake tan wanting something "exotic", like all the idiots we have in Nottingham (UK), when will they learn/get a brain?

UK, Ireland / Ed Miliband, new Labour leader, talking about Polish immigrants yesterday [62]

Labour made their biggest mistake in years electing Red Ed. Does Labour really think the British public would vote in a Polish Jew, because those are his origins FACT. Would Poland elect a guy from England who was born here and raised here - c'mon they would stand no chance. Tusk was in trouble for having a German grandfather. I hope Ed is never elected, I don't care if I sound racist, I want a British person with British roots running my country, not some bloody socialist, Marxist loving immigrant. Labour have just handed the Tories the next election. Ed Balls would have been a far better bet, than the Jewish Communist.

Work / Black English Teacher going to Wroclaw [247]

I don't think people will stare that much, where I live in Poland I have seen one or two black people and they are not subjected to stares from members of the public. I think it's when a black guy is with a Polish woman you then have a problem. However, the family of the girl are usually the ones who object. I think that when people see a black man with a white Polish woman in the street they are more relieved that it's not their daugther, sister etc who is with him, producing "devils offspring". You'll be alright.

Work / Self employed teacher, what do you think about this? [9]

he doesn't want to pay your ZUS .... maybe

You've hit the nail on the head I received this today:

We are happy if the school pays all the taxes but would prefer, if possible, not to pay this big ZUS insurance. So if the insurance could be arranged in a different way that would be good. What do you think ?

If anyone can help or advise me I would be very grateful. I really want to teach at this school but if they don't pay my ZUS should I leave it? I don't want to be self employed.

UK, Ireland / Changing my UK driving license to Polish one [13]

I agree with the DVLA that it is advisable to exchange it. Furthermore you have to inform the DVLA of a change of address, they do not issue a license to a non UK address, how can you have a UK license in Poland then. If you are a resident in Poland with a UK license and don't change it then surely you have witheld information from the DVLA?

UK, Ireland / Changing my UK driving license to Polish one [13]

OK do you go to the Ratusz to fill in the forms I was told on the phone by a Polish friend that you have to change it after 6 months. It costs 80 zloty he disagreed that there is a number of questions to answer it is a simple process by all accounts!

FYI Delph
From the DVLA

Do I have to exchange my EU licence?

You do not have to exchange it if you hold a EU licence or until you are a resident in the UK for a year or more. However, it is advisable to exchange it as in the event of any issues resulting in conviction, a UK Court is more likely to impose a disqualification if the licence held is not one that can be endorsed.
