UK, Ireland / "Strange " English language.. [255]

Are you aware of what neutral means? Maybe you should brush up on your English skills.

Are you? Somehow i doubt it.

or perhaps imitate the Fascist model whereby people who do not speak BBC English are persecuted and forbidden to use it?

Sounds good to me, what do others think:)

you know so much?

Thanks that is very kind.

Dont think it limited Nigel Kennedy! (as fake as his Mockney accent is) As for inferiority complex, there are plenty of brash rough speaking sucessful people in this country, thats what makes it so great...You sound like a judgemental little pr*ck.

Just a neutral observer.

I never said that we Brits can understand each other any better than the foreigners can! Plenty of times I've been completely lost by something someone from my own country has said!

I guess this is a positive in that Brits would be more naturally tolerant of foreigners speaking in different accents when having their own countryman doing likewise. Nevertheless it's an obvious fact of life that educated Brits by and large don't speak with a regional accent, and if the judgment and suspicion is to stop it is only common sense that they should strive towards a more homogeneous accent to overcome this problem. Furthermore Britain has to be one of a very few countries if not the only one, in which you can have a competent none English speaker, speak the language better than some of the locals. That is not exactly something to be proud of.

I am not sure if i agree, it is the main cuase of class tension, becuse those who can't speak properly sometimes have a major inferiority complex that is why the UK is still so divided by class. I can understnad subtle differences, but such huge diffrerences in a realtivley small geographical area are not good. The education system should be capable of eliminating these differences however, i fear the the PC culture in the UK is just to great.

You might not actually know this but very few Brits actually know how to speak their own language, you would have taught that with time the regional differences would disappear, but partly as a result of poor education policy this hasn't happened.

History / Yalta Conference and Poland [78]

if you p!ss your neighbours off enough, eventually they will turn around and slap you

It seems you are in need of some of that treatment.

Yet if anyone could "save" Poland at the time - it would've been America!

100% accurate they had the BOMB, so all they had to do was insist and the soviets were in position to refuse.

Why, other nations see Americans in a pretty similar way:

Come on, surely that can't be fair, they were caught on the hop:)

I can go on for hours with fellow expats about the "Polish way" and we often have each other in stitches because there is so much that is "different" in Poland and it's rarely "better".
If you want to be respected start acting in a way that deserves it.

yes, there is nothing more endearing than expats getting together and ******** for HOURS about what a horrible people these Poles are.
Yet another example of the Polish knee jerk "blame someone else and deflect" tactic. It's inevitable. Can't you ever just say "yeah that's something we should work on" without saying "but"?]

As soon as they do that your ego grows tenfold, and you start telling everyone how they do it back home. And back home is not really doing all that well right now.
to illustrate the Polish trait of taking credit for something they didn't have anything to do with was a matter of coincidence that this all occurred while Poland was in this particular stage of it's economy. With the massive amounts of credit Poles live on]

Yes just like the American recession and abysmal economic performance is nothing more than a coincidence.
we ARE saying is that modern Polish culture has some huge changes it will have to undertake if it want's respect.]

That is coming from somebody from a nation whose idea of culture is a fat American in shorts getting up in the morning, and hoisting the flag on his or her front lawn. You can keep your respect to yourself, it takes culture to recognize culture.
the massive amounts of credit Poles live on]

what claptrap, have you forgotten from which country you come from.
Nobody is saying Polish genes are defective...]

And I suppose that is breaking it to them really gently.

Yes the Poles are a proud people, but they are better aware of their shortcomings than anybody else, so yes they might find it a bit personal coming from somebody who hasn't got a clue what they have been through pointing it out to them.

beelzebub

[You NEED the investment but your ego prevents you from even admitting that.
The above person seems to have a serious inferiority complex.

Yes, kind of like Arab oil money is fueling investment in the US. And lets not forget Chinese money. A Rich nation having to borrow from a poor one how immoral, decadent and indecent is that? I suppose that is why Obama has take to bowing before a Saudi King.

You are obviously about 16 and have no experience of real life.

I’ am not sure what you associate with qualified people, but hard work, discipline, reliability and intelligence are usually prerequisites to become one in the first place. I could live ten lives over and these fundamentals would never change. You must be living in some parallel universe on a planet called Bare Minimum.

yes there is some truth in that however, if you had a choice between a John Prescott type and somebody who actually has some sort of qualification, you would go for that person every time.

Poland is being run by a bunch of idiots.

I don't mean to call you ignorant, but are you aware of the qualifications of some of Poland's politicians?

Life / 3 reasons why you hate Poland. [1049]

I hate that we don't have a Government, just a Mafia. The Tusku clone being it's face.

One thing i hate is how Poles dump on their present gov. have you seen the qualifications of some of the ministers. Take the finance minister Rostowski, or the foreign minister Skiorski for instance. Read their about them on wiki or gov website, and i challenge you to find better qualified gov people anywhere else in Europe.

you've got me, I'am to slow for these forums i write before i think. The reason for the slow re- population is partly due to the poor fertility of the highlands.

Keep in mind that off topic posts will be binned.

Haha, you actually googled "organ harvesting poland" because of that post? Did you search for baby smuggling too? I bet you have a weird search history :)

Seriously though, there was a recent case in which Ambulance personnel got sentenced for finishing people of by putting them to sleep (permanently) for their organs, elderly for the most part.
