Yes they are jokes.Some people are altering road signs and authorities call it vandalism but I think some of these altered signs are funny.

I think the whole problem is that they are coming here (Poland) unprepared,meaning that they don't speak any Polish and that makes them pretty much handicaped like.As much as I understand their feelings I can't understand their expectations that people in Poland will speak English.Being Polish and living in the US among Americans (when in the US I don't speak Polish except for when I am on Skype with my mother) I can refer to their predicament because I remember when it was like to don't understand conversation and the feeling of alienation.But now I am equally comfortable in both English and Polish speaking enviroments.To sum up,if someone wants to live in Poland he/she must be prepared to speak Polish.


I think he just wants to speak to someone as I doubt he speaks any Polish and even if many Polish people speak some English very few is acctualy able to handle a conversation unless they work in tourist industry as it's all about using language daily.

Why not?Yeah, I know that "Eastern Europe" is associated with poverty and backwardness,this kind of stuff.But,in reality it doesn't matter.I find it silly that some Poles object when someone calls Poland an Eastern European country because if Poland was rich or super rich country nobody would care wheter foraigners call it Eastern,Central or Western as it doesn't change a bit what Poland really is.Asia overall is pretty poor but I don't think any Japanese have a problem with foraigners calling Japan an Asian country.You see what I am saying?

"Sell out"?Dude,you are totally ignorant about Polish-Czech relations in years 1918-1938.What do you mean by "sell out"?Poland did not have any pact with Czechoslovakia so how could Poles sell them out?And besides,it's not like Czechs were going to fight Germans anyway so I don't any reason why Poland wouldn't take land inhabited by Polish population which Czechs were going to GIVE AWAY to the Germans.

Disgraceful?Not at all.We only took back what Czechs stole from us when we were busy fighting Soviets 20 years earlier.Nothing disgracefull about it.

Graduate of Lodz University,major banking.Did few odd jobs in the US.Lately had a small (3 vans) taxi company in Ocean City MD but sold it and during housing boom was working for a plumbing company in MD/DE as a quality inspector (testing and punch out).


For almost 6 months,curing the depression I fell into in the States.I would like to stay in Poland but I have a big problem with the system/government here and I am not going to support it in any way.Poland itself is not bad (of course I am biased as I grew up here) but could be much better.


Since 2004.Going back there within the next 2 weeks and moving from Delmarva to Illinois.Have to go back to school to get American diploma and hoping to get a job with some bank in Chicago (as it is easy to start there because they are looking for Polish speaking tellers) or at Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

Only a quarter is not bad if we take into account the number of Poles in the UK and the fact your government make it easy for foraigners (not only Poles) to get things done in their native language,though personally I don't think I could ever live in a country where I am not able to comunicate with natives in their language.It's like being handicaped,me thinks.


Very few of those in town of Sieradz but I have seen some.Many more nice cars are PL plated yet everyone is saying that they don't have any money.


Yeah,maybe but I am being put off by the anti Polish sentiment in the UK which I can understand but don't really feel like dealing with.Sure in the US from time to time I meet a person trying to talk down to me because I am a foraigner but that doesn't happen often and is compensated by Americans who make me feel very welcomed.I have met tons of Americans insisting that now I am an American because I live in the US,store clerks asking where am I from and then telling me "God bless you and thank you for coming to the US",girls from High Leigh college telling me that they apologize if someone ever gave me a hard time for being a foraigner and so on.Maybe it's because I am a cool dude but I doubt that would ever happen in the UK or maybe I am wrong as I have never really been in the UK.Also it would probably take me some time to switch from Amglish to English not to mention accent.In the US I already reached the level of proficiency where I am being understood and don't have to repeat myself when trying to get things done over the phone.

Better,I have never been to UK except for quick transfers at Heathrow.Twice I think.

Look,I know the difference between England,Scotland,Great Britain and United Kingdom and I know what UK stands for but this is very confusing for many people not only in Poland and it's a mistake to expect people to know.I can bet you a $100 that majority of Americans would have no clue what UK stands for.Some time ago waiting in a cashier line at my local Food Lion in Selbyville DE I overheard a conversation.There was a magazine rack with one magazine displaying on the front page something about royal family doing something in Scotland. American mother and teenage daughter,looking average Americans.The girl asked "Mom,where is Scotland?",her mother's answer "Oh,it's in England".True story.
