News / New cross war in Warsaw [530]

Thats true.
But anyway my point is that if two enemies are having a game of tug of war,it doesn't matter if you are for or against the rope.

milky:
Its metaphorical

Like i said its a metaphorical Tug of War between the modern and the conservative. These over the top cross worshippers are the Taliban.

But anyway my point is that if two enemies are having a game of tug of war,it doesn't matter if you are for or against the rope.

Sorry to repeat but it went of topic when i joined.

History / Is there any part of Polish history that's at least a bit glorious? [192]

What a statement form an English nationalist. Have you no cop on buddy. Look into the disgraceful history of your own country that raped half the world, and yet no apology.

From Penal times to Bloody Sunday. The Poles are angels compared to the Brits.

UK, Ireland / Ive been in the UK for 6 days to relocate and im going back to Poland. [281]

So foreigners living in Poland are sick of their homeland because of the foreigners.
Am i getting this right?
What about multicultural cities all over the world, that we all love to go to because of their ancient complexity.London, New York etc
If you left England in the sixties(PF guys) and came back would you leave again because of the Pakistanis and Caribbean's?
Poland is all white, because its poor and not, because of some Polish internal strength.

pyjamas outdoors

common here with people on the dole who are too lazy to get dressed. Even their day-time clothes are track-suits, another form of PJs.

Work / Average monthly salary in Poland is around 1000 PLN (few hundred bucks). [387]

Dunno, but I do know that you can get a kilo of potatoes for about €0.25 in the city.

Average rent for a small apartment is well over half of your monthly wage. I pay in Ireland about a sixth of my monthly wage for a large apartment. Potatoes are a minor detail when you are already broke after rent or mortgage.

Also, it's quite normal for single Poles to share a house or flat, just like they do in most European countries

couples share apartments in Poland, this is not normal. Its the f0cking Walton's over there for many.
so the average wage in Poland is now Gross 215 euro so that 175 euro a week.. Is this true??

But the cost of living is much lower in general.

Not when it comes to rent and petrol and buying cars and clothes and anything electronic.
Although i do think that here in Ireland for the last 15 years we just have it too easy(but not for much longer) and comparing it with Poland is a bad comparison. Unless your a consumer junky you will live the life of luxury here, even if on the dole, unless you are one of the many who fell for that bu11shit and bought during the property bubble and are now up to your neck in the sh1t.

Things in Poland in my view are so bad that they can only get better.

Life / My own thoughts about life in Poland (have lived here for two years) [133]

Which brings me to my next point. Wages. Stupidly low. The average wage is 3200 zl per month (2009 Polish government statistics) now this is the average of everyone in the country, from the very highest earners to the lowest. Anecdotally, most people seem to earn around 1500 - 2000 per month. Starting a career is a joke

Salaries are ridiculously low in relation to all the costs you incur here.

Im glad to see, at last, a bit of fresh air about reality in Poland.

I see it can be quite tribal. What I notice first and foremost is that, many posters here seem to be very sensitive to criticism of Poland. Also, they tend to be Polish ex-pats rather than Polish people living here in Poland.

Man tell me about it.. A lot of people(about four who attack in group) here have the job of constantly pumping positive information about the economical situation of Poland, which is consistently false.

The passion for truth is silenced by answers which have the weight of undisputed authority.

A friend who could not find work as a Child Psychologist went for a job in an office, she'd had some office experience and just needed a source of income. She was told afterwards that she had priced herself out of the job by saying she was not prepared to work for less than 1200 zl per month.

That's bull as many here get under 1000PLN gross and they don't claim as litigation is vexatious. Ask those that distribute fliers how much they get. I did and was shocked. Ask some cleaners and others that do ancillary jobs. The list goes on and on.

I was talking to a guy recently who works in lublin in a leisure park,he earns less than 2 euro an hour.

Work / Cost of Living, Average Salaries and Job sites in Poland [263]

I simply can't imagine going to college for 5 years, walking out with a master's, and taking a job that pays $600 a month but that's what a lot of entry level jobs pay here, and this is Wroclaw, not East Bumbledump Zdroj.

From the Polish people i know it seems to be the norm.

I would imagine the government works hard to keep the wages down so as to encourage foreign investment and keep the country competitive. Thanks to the ultra free-market right wing government who could not give a f0ck about the workers and their criminally low wages.

And also developer work hard spamming lies that wages are high and all is well, so as to attract real-estate foreign investment.
The truth is caught between a rock and a hard place.
