Life / Prices of cars in Poland? [88]

Well I went last sunday to the bydgoszcz auto gielda, there was a huge turn out, lots of cars, BBQ`s etc. It was like a huge UK carboot, but full of cars LOL!!!!..... Did`nt find anything mind, every thing was priced the same as an Polish auto kommis? ie not much cheaper than elsewhere in Poland. Every car looked dodgy? from resprays, RHD conversions, cut and shuts, lots of "I don`t know history only registered it 2 days ago, came from Germany". Prices were still silly its like buying a car in the UK from someone in a car park you`ve never been to before. Still it was fun.

Importing from Japan, I thought they drove on the right like in the UK, why would they have LHD cars? How would you verify the integrity of an imported car, ie its condition, history, whether its stolen or not without seeing it 1st?

does your help stretch to finding me a car? if so I would like a Honda CRV 2003-2006 prefably diesel, or a Rav 4 2003-2006 prefably diesal too. O and has to LHD

Will have a browse at the website you sent me, and see what pops up.

Thanks

Yep those "here`s £50 for an MOT" days are over, I dont have a BMW, I was looking at a 2000 525d in poland, and the 7 series was an estimation for the insurance quote, I actualy drive a golf R32 in the uk but the insurance groups must be the same Group 17-18, the 7 series may be higher. killer insurance in inner city area`s..

Have you ever heard of a Car auction that takes place every sunday in the town of bydgoszcz?? I belive its called "bydgoszcz auto Gielder" its surposed to be like a huge open market selling cars, on a few hectars of land, people from all over poland bring their cars to this one place to sell? I was just wondering as its surposed to be huge that it may have its own website? any ideas? if I goolge bydgoszcz auto Gielder I get all sorts pop up?

Poznan suburbs, near a major big City?? I dont mind where the wheel on the car is.....its just I dont want to be driving it back to the UK every year and then back to Poland again, for an MOT, etc...... I rather spend the fuel & Ferry money on something else..... If I had to do that every year, I`d just put the extra towards a polish car here, bite the bullit and pay over the odds which is what I think will happen unless some can come up with another idea?

Real Estate / Substantial amount of agricultural land in Poland - what to do with it [23]

why not list you land on ebay.pl or allegro.pl, give as much detail as possible, land size, planning permission, etc etc. and see what it goes for, you can always get a friend to bid on it, and win if you dont want to sell it, then cancel the transaction.....this way you will see what someone is willing to pay... All these agents just look for rich pickins, do you homework carefully, and make up you own mind.

That explains it, if you start quoting for inner city areas, the insurance prices are just as bad as polish used car prices, but I presume its the same in Poland, inner city expensive as compaired to the country side? was your polish quote for an Inner city area?

In the uk I live in the City, in poland I live in the country, so this could explain why insurance is low for me in poland, But i bet if a lived in say warsaw i`d be looking at silly Uk prices too.

Is the jag a uk car? RHD

£300 for a 7 series in the UK,?? you must live somewhere where there is no crime or people?, I would be looking at 5x that amount maybe more for a new 7 series fully comp. I find polish insurance very cheap. I got a quote for a bmw 525d (2000) fully comp for 1300PLN, in the Uk I would be looking at around £700 fully comp, I have 14 year no claims too.

@DNZ yes could buy in the UK a RHD and use it in poland, but this would mean driving all the way back to england for an MOT every year, and would mean taxing it as well, not sure if its worth doing this every year? also there may be an insurance issue, 3rd party not a problem, but if you want fully comp for the whole year, this could cost a bit. Polish insurance is a lot cheaper.

@delphiandomine, when is this change in the law going to take place? any idea`s, where on the net can I find out about these things? Registering a RHD in Poland would be great for me, I have no problem with the steering wheel being on the other side. But at present you can`t register a RHD because you can`t get a polish MOT for RHD, its a fail straight away because of RHD. I also belive they are starting/have imposed a variable rate of import tax for old poluting cars, I presume to stop people importing high poluting cars.

If I could register a RHD here that would sovle many problems.

I have been looking for a used car in Poland now for quite a while, and all I can say is that they are very very expensive, compaired to what you get in the UK.

Most are £3-4K overpriced, with 150k-250k km on the clock, and in very bad condition, there are a lot of badly repaired crashed cars around... I have not seen many that are in good condition, unless you want a 1-2 year old car, but you will pay very high prices for these. What would go for say £1k in the UK (e.g. Honda CRV 1998-2000 130k miles) I`ve seen for sale for the equivilent of £4K-5K, plus you would have to either pay 3.1% or 13.6% import duty depending on engine size, plus around another 500pln (£100) for registration and other bits and bobs.

I have seen them for around 1k-2k cheaper but these are Right hookers from the UK and the cost of conversion will be around the 1k-2k mark, so hardly work it.

All the used cars over here are very high mileage seen an audi A6 with 241km 3 years old and they wanted a fortune for it.

They way things are looking its probably worth buying nearly new in poland 1 year old models.

The used cars from what i`ve seen are imported from Holland, Germany, Lituania, France, USA
