Life / Can foreigners really understand Poles? [136]

I understand that Poles don't understand Britain very well :) :)

hahahaha, yeah that's for sure!

A Walter Scott? ;) ;)

Oops I did it again.
What about Scot & English - do you think a Scot would get along with Poles better/easier than an English man would?

Life / Can foreigners really understand Poles? [136]

OK, Nika, please ask me sth tricky about Poles. Sth I might not understand :)

So, in your opinion, why do Poles eat karp for Christmas? Do you understand that?!

Now seriously, in your opinion, how come you can understand Poles? Do you think it's easier for a Scott to understand us than it is, let's say, for a Brit?

Life / Do Polish People steal a lot? [330]

Yeah, it must be the remaining 5% of non-Catholics that are committing all the theft, right? ;)

Totally right Seanus. Good, catholic Poles don't steal and the bad ones either go abroad or steal in PL.

Love / Polish Girls vs Russian Girls [813]

It doesn't matter what people call it. The Hague is still a village.

Darius, please don't act like these EU officials who make regulations about the curves of cucumbers and bends of bananas. A banana is a banana regardless of its bends.

It's ridiculous to call the Hague a village, regardles of its official administrative status.
You should go and see for yourself - you'd be surprised.
I suggest that you start from Scheveningen - the sea-side with its countless bars, pubs and restaurants will put you in a very good mood before you will be off to the city center with just as many tourist attractions, and last but not least to the International Court of Justice.

Travel / When is the best time (month) to see Poland? [31]

For sure. Kraków has a unique, inviting, cosmopolitan atmosphere, lots of great places to go out, lots of things going on - cultural, religious, entertainment events. It's a beautiful, historic city, great architecture, great people. ahhhhhhhhhhhh

Love / Do you think that Polish should stick to Polish? [128]

My only concern is that I know a lot of British people teach English and their English is different then North American. What's your thoughts on that?

Taken that a lot Poles have recently gone to the UK & Ireland, British English is probably more popular in PL, but I don't know for sure. However, there's a lot of teachers posting on here, I'm sure some one will be able to give you a proper advise.

But you don't have to work as a teacher, unless you want to, of course. Have a look at the link I posted in your other thread. I was head-hunted myself (via GoldenLine), am working for an investment bank but in operations. Don't know if that's your działka.

What made you move back to PL Nika?

Chciałam trochę odpocząć od mieszkania samej za granicą - that's one of the reasons. I'll tell you the rest of the story when we meet up for a drink in PL :)

Love / Do you think that Polish should stick to Polish? [128]

Nika I agree.. you know i'm so glad you came and replied to my thread. I completely agree with you.... I really want to move to Poland, even if it's for a couple years, but I do want to. Were you born there?

Sure! I'm Polish, born in Świerklaniec, grew up in Tarnowskie-Góry, studied in Nowy-Sącz. Then I moved to Brussels, lived there for 5 years and returned to PL in september last year. I'm currently living in Kraków. I love this city!

Where in PL would you like to move?

Bzibzioh
I like you as well.

Angie, wanna join us in Kraków?

Love / Do you think that Polish should stick to Polish? [128]

yeah, we are for mixed couples!

One thing you should know Angie, is that expats are often more conservative and anxious about preserving their national & cultural heritage, so I understand your mom as well. I respect my parents a lot, their opinion and desires are very important to me, but I don't always agree with them. In order to not upset them, I say "yes mom, yes dad" to most of the things they say. Then I do what I think is right and say "sorry, it just happened".

USA, Canada / Moving from Canada to Poland? I'm fluent Polish and could teach English. [24]

and Nika it's nice to listen to your positive attitude thanks!

hey, you're my Polish girl from Canada :)
You know in Poland we do it all the time - we come and go. If you move to PL it's not unreversible.

Currently I work as an Investor with a bank. So i doubt it would be easy to continue that in Poland.

Here you can find a list with some investemet banks in PL:

biznespolska.pl/firmy/krs.php?search%5Bbranchid%5D=BINWEST

You can also register for social networking portals like LinkedIn or Goldenline (this one is Polish I think) and maybe someone will head-hunt you?

USA, Canada / Moving from Canada to Poland? I'm fluent Polish and could teach English. [24]

Thats one thing in life you have to admit, you'll never know unless you try. I know it's probably tough to find a job similar to what I have here, but I feel it's the experience that matters. You only live once.

Definitely hun! You're young, you've got your whole life ahead of you - you should try different things and choose what's best for you. You come here, if you like it you stay, and if you don't you go back. :)

would be great to have you here Angie! Pack your bags and come over! If you've always had a love for PL, then PL has always had a love for you as well. In case you don't like it here, you can always go back to Canada. But you'll never know until you try.

Life / Do expats living in Poland speak Polish? [233]

That's the main page of The Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Chicago, written entirely in Polish. You can click on the USA flag for English, but Polish is given priority.

what is so surprising about it. The Consulate is there firstly to assure assistance to Polish citizens living in the US.

History / remember, forget, forgive, blame ... Holocaust Memorial Day in Poland [229]

However, you should find some different way of dealing with the almost unbearable load of the sins of your fathers than by looking for other nations to blame and point fingers at. I feel sorry for Germans - I really do (there's no malice intended at all). How hard it must be for them...

Amen. May God forgive them (no malice intended either).

Love / Polish Girls vs Russian Girls [813]

Simple girls can be fun to go out with, etc but if you want a proper relationship forget it. OK, there are a few exceptions, especially in warsaw....

Certainly, the exceptions wouldn't even notice you, so all you have left is going out with simple girls. But hey, comme on dit, lepszy rydz niż nic :)

News / Poland - Third World Country?? [300]

Yes you do.

I still think I don't. I prefer to experience things rather then read definitions.

You don,t know what your talking about, and your making yourself look stupid.

sorry if I wasn't clear. I meant that sometimes it's better to not know about some things. Visiting a 3rd world country can be emotionally a very difficutl experience.

You don,t know what your talking about, and your making yourself look stupid.
Take the time to look at the link and stop being a know all .

would you stop attacking me everytime you come on here, please.
