UK, Ireland / Why are Polish people, especially women, so disrespectful toward the English? [437]

Maybe the problem is with you, Nataliee.

I think Miss Natalie E doesn't have a problem with Poles in general, but with Polish women, hence the "especially women" in the subject of her thread.

Maybe her bf/fiancé/husband has left her, escaped with a pretty Polish girl, and Miss is now taking her anger out on all the Polish ppl of the world.

With all due respect Miss English, that is pitiful, however, I truly hope that all the above negative comments have comforted you, and made you feel better.

Law / The 'Secret' of Poland's Economic Success [83]

hague1cameron

Very interesting post hague, I've learnt something from it, thank you!

That's why Poland is so interesting for investors at the moment. At some point of time this will change, as Ireland has shown.

Let's wait and see...

Belgium ? What a dump. How can you compare ?

What are you talking about? Oh, I see - your father was certainly working in one of the Charleroi's coal mines and you are now biassed.

Not the only criteria, but the most important cost factor together with favourable local tax laws. Why do you think corporations like Dell and others invested so heavily in Ireland? Because they loved the country? Same answer for Poland...

You are forgetting that first of all, someone has to be able/skilled enough to do the job. As cheap as the labor can be, if they not go to skools, have diploma and know speaking lenguages, then you can not do a thing with them!

And yes, I do have the same job, just the comany (and the country) that's changed.

As I said before, it's the low cost of labour.

You don't seriously think, that the only criteria a company would take into consideration is the cost of labour?

And thank you for your consideration, but I am not being exploited by any one here. I actually have a better life in PL than I did, when I was living in Belgium.

English will come to clean and build houses in Poland.

Cool! Then I will definitely hire a nice, strong English cleaning-gentleman! I will give him chocolate and my old clothes to send back home, ask him if they have internet in England, what kind of cars they drive (you have Mercedes and BMW as well????!!!!!! Really?????!!!!! Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) etc. Really, I can't wait!

And now go out and tell the people the truth... ;)

Well, Polak potrafi and we've just been doing better then the rest of Europe lately, that's it.
Of course we wish you well for the incoming year(s).

All Europe should become like Poland.A model.

Definitely. Beware All Europe and do not follow the Greek model!

Just wait. You can't give people making 2500pln a month loans to buy 500,000pln flats without the bottom falling out eventually. So many people are overextended on credit in Poland it's going to be really ugly.

I don't know what all this "bragging" about Poland's economic growth is all about.

You people are just being jealous....you are such sore losers

Language / IS "MURZYN" word RACIST? [686]

You are absolutely right, Polak and Polka are Polish for male and female Polish people. In Poland it's not offensive in any way.
But I've been told that abroad the word Polak has pejorative meaning.

News / A Świnoujście girl wins the I love Europe competition [16]

Is that a glass? For drinking???

yes BB, it is a glass and yes, glasses are for drinking :)

A beer glass?

no, it's a cocktail glass.

Does that mean Europeans are drunks????

a cocktail is a delicious drink that we all/most of us like, a mix of best ingredients. She's saying that the best "ingredients of Europe" are its People, Places and Cultures. This combination of People, Places and Cultures makes Europe her favourite.

Of course, some Europeans are drunks as well.

News / A Świnoujście girl wins the I love Europe competition [16]

Maria Mileńko won the competition for a poster for Europe day 2010.
Graphically it's very simple, but I do like the message "Europe. My favourite Mix. People. Places. Cultures".
What do you think?

Poster by Maria Mileńko , student of the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan , won the contest for a poster for Europe Day 2010 The author of the winning work will receive a prize of two thousand euro.

Polish artist's work brought together by far the most points among the works that were in the finals of the "I love Europe " . Voting ended at midnight on 31 January and was conducted via the competition website designeurope2010.eu.. Internet users could vote on the nine works by artists originating, inter alia with Portugal, Germany and France.

Life / Can foreigners really understand Poles? [136]

There are probably thousands of posts here, in which visitors would like to customize Poland to the likeness of their respective countries. Well peeps, such heavily customized Poland would no longer be Poland.

Very well said!

However, descending back into the world of generalisations, I'd say that Scots would get along better with Poles than English folk, yes.

That's what I thought.
