News / Don't go to Poland ... because you could end up coming back in a coffin [313]

Oh yes, saying you don't want blacks (or whites, yellow people, Indians, whatever) in a country is racist

As opposed to the none racist demonstrations held all over Israel; Eilat, Bnei Brak, Sderot, Ashdod and Ashkelon back in March where they were holding signs calling for the deportation of the migrants and smashing car windows of black drivers I suppose.

Nevertheless any ethnic minority fans who visit will be less than impressed by the unremoved graffiti.

Won't even notice it or he might even feel right at home LOL

Yes they are scum. Do you know any other kind of person who makes racist graffiti and fights in the street?

Patrol 36 rings a bell? Mind you that's Nazi Jews In Israel no less!

News / Marion Barry insults Polish people calling them "Polacks" [33]

Once in New York I was chating with some Latinos and asked if they're Mexican one answered 'my friend's here are Mexican I'm Puerto Rican'

There's your answer, little sarcasm for your ignorance, I would do the same if I was the Puerto Rican', well deserved insult for a stupid statement too yet you still don't see the difference.

News / Marion Barry insults Polish people calling them "Polacks" [33]

I'm gonna give the ex-mayor a pass and this is why. In my neck of the woods the Poles have co-opted the "p-word" similar to blacks using the n-word. I hear it all the time. Staś asks his black friend "where is that polak Jaś"

Using Your own logic it's fine for me to say "I don't care what that dope head N***** has to say" then,is it? Don't know much about your neck of the woods but I can't imagine that there's a heck of a lot of Poles living in the redneck country.

I've said it before on the forum many Latinos or Blacks don't know that the word Polack is offensive

BS, are you saying they lack the basic knowledge on the very issue they themselves struggle with on daily basis even now in the US.

Then what's the purpose of your post? Most people woulda said "sheesh, whatta jerk", and moved on.

Oy vey!, should I use another example to better illustrate this point to you? Funny how this "sheesh, whatta jerk" attitude is missing every time the Jewish issues are raised, they are always described as anti-Semitic in nature by You. Now that's being a jerk!

Life / Polish people are the most ignorant people in the world! [331]

I come on this forum to learn about Poland and hopefully about Europe as a whole.I do not bash Poland or any country for that matter.Governments are a different story.

LOL. You have to be kidding!

1. What part of my statement you find crude or offensive? Of course I'm biased to my own comment so please quote me on the part you find crude, show the errors of my way to the entire forum community by using the quote button, that's what's it for, use it liberally. As it happens my statement was rather conservative and polite, expressed in a gentleman like fashion. Perhaps it was just his lucky day as he caught me on one of my better days.

2. I understand you find my comment to be offensive as it is aimed at Americans (and intentionally so btw) that's expected but crude? Even the one that was deleted by the moderators was nowhere near that but it's their prerogative to do so. Perhaps you missed the one made by one of your own countrymen (the one you're not so sure of). It's ironic you try to teach me proper forum etiquette yet remaining mysteriously silent in regards to the comments made by one of your own, don't you think? Should I read more to it than it meets the eye?

3. I'm glad to hear your interests very and would like to explore a wider world, venture beyond your shores so to speak even if it's only through cyberspace and to separate yourself from the rest of that isolationist crowd. By all means do explore and enjoy your stay on PF. Must warn you though; do try to grow a thicker skin.

Just remember that other non jackass Americans read your posts.

I'm very well aware of that fact, so if you want me to heed your advice, take you seriously in the future and don't take you for just another American Troll I'll advise you not to take sides as it further reinforces my not so favorable opinion about your kind as it is. You can join the debate anytime you want and argue your point to your heart content if something bothers you but whatever you do don't encourage trolls by taking sides or be one yourself.

Life / Polish people are the most ignorant people in the world! [331]

it doesn't even make sense.

Perhaps you lack a simple comprehension skill, besides I never accused Americans of being the sharpest bunch.

you hate americans

Do I? Your paranoia is clouding your judgment.

now try to stay on topic.

So what is the topic? Some more anti-Polish rant started by some dumb f*** Yank who can’t stand the heat once the debate changes course? Now go cry on your mums shoulder, ***** and moan how much everyone dislikes you to her, you won’t get sympathy from me.

Life / Polish people are the most ignorant people in the world! [331]

just by calling somewhere "exotic" doesn't make it a nice safe place to visit

You might say I’m a living testament that such ordeal is possible.

the jungles of Vietnam are "exciting" but you probably wouldn't last 10 minutes inside one before you got bit by a venomous snake, eaten by a tiger or chewed up alive by insects the size of fists. surely an ideal place for a family of 4 to go visit.

Why would you think that jungles of Vietnam would be any different? Different strokes…….. as the Yankee saying goes, you lack the sense of adventure and that’s your problem. What scares the living daylights out of you, you tend to bash, once you show some respect I’m sure your family of 4 would be quiet safe and even the jungles of Vietnam would welcome you. Your second option is truly the American way, get a bigger gun next time you plan your trip abroad but bear in mind that while it satisfies the false sense of security it creates animosity towards the visitor, locals simply don’t appreciate it as much as you think.

Ooooooh.......I see. I'm American and made some comment about somewhere being "3rd world" and that makes me the a$$hole American now. Heaven forbid I have an opinion about somewhere and it automatically becomes an American exceptionalism issue.

Heaven forbid I would deny you your first amendment right, of course you’re entitled to your opinion and you’re free to voice it anytime you wish. Bear in mind that when an a$$hole makes its opinion known as you have so eloquently stated in a rude, obnoxious and loud manner at a social gathering more often than not it’s simply not appreciated by the rest of the participants at such an event even if they don’t come out and let you know right there and then.

You're completely out of line and simply looking for a fight.

I beg to differ; it is you that’s out of line, besides Those are the fighting words!.

Genealogy / I am of Polish descent (i am something called kashoop). Kaszub, Kashubian? [19]

changed the name to schawitsch, to americanize it, not even sure how to spell the original, but it is pronounced jukavitch

I doubt the pronunciation is like you claim it to be. Judging by the bastardized American spelling the original had to be something like Szczawicz, that's pretty damn close but I doubt there's a surname like that, perhaps Szczechowicz or something very similar.

USA, Canada / Living in Poland - prospects for Alabama guy ... need some advice! [146]

Huntsville is an educated community with the history of the Space program.

Riiiiight! Marshall Space Flight Center has roughly 6000 employees most of whom are outsiders not of local stock anyway, that makes most of Huntsville residents a bunch of uneducated redneck so who are you kidding? The biggest employer by far is the Army Redstone Arsenal but once more most of them are outsiders as the locals are not fit to be a cannon fodder. F***ing cotton picking plantation workers at best and that's all they'll ever be.

Jasondmzk stay where you are! Poland is definitely not your niche.

Life / A recent visit to Poland. First time after 12 years. [19]

Let me explain the piece about Poles pretending not to be Poles.

Interesting theory based on a single incident. To be honest, I would do the same if I'm not in the mood for a casual conversation with a complete stranger on a long flight. Believe me I know your type, met plenty of them on a long distance flights, they have nothing to do and they bore you to death all the way through the flight. Have you consider the possibility that people would rather relax and not to have to put up with an annoyance like that? Food for thought next time someone gives you a not so subtle hint.

Love / Prevention of child abduction by Polish mother. [232]

Those statistics are based on American way of life, selfish me generation that thinks only of themselves, no family values whatsoever. No wonder single mothers forsake the upbringing and the future of their own children in favor of their own happiness here and now letting the street to bring them up, as if the rest of the world is the same.

I also pointed out something that is dear to me. It's the fact that too many kids grow up without a parent, usually the father. Our society pays a high price for that.

Then you have a funny way of expressing it, what you're doing in fact is encouraging him to be a deadbeat parent. Depriving the mother of the child the means of supporting that child is just one but perhaps the most important reason why the society pays a high price. So tell me, how is your advice in the best interest of that child?, and how exactly are you trying to protect the society from people not living up to their responsibilities?

When having a marital problems, seeking counseling, confiding in a friend or reaching out for legal advice if all else fails is one thing, that's what normal people do but seeking an approval for your action on a public forum? Willing to wash your dirty laundry on the internet in a futile attempt to turn the opinion of the entire world against your former love out of spite? That sure is a sign of a deranged mind and of a complete looser. People like that should be castrated and not allowed further reproduction for failing to support their child, now that would relieve some of the pressure from the rest of the society don't you think?

In this instance we have a woman who took their kid and didn't seem to be very communicative after that. Inherently, that is wrong.

No we don't! What we have here is hearsay on Op’s part, you don't know the facts of this case yet you're taking sides because it suits your agenda, showing your personal prejudice in the process. The other person is not here to present her side. How much of what you have just heard can be taken at face value? That's what's inherently wrong here, you're showing your bias by taking sides and not even making an effort to hide it. Your personal feelings are irrelevant, simply put making a judgment after hearing just half of the story makes you a fool. You're like a teenaged punk who has premature ejaculation before taking a good look at what's really hiding underneath that dress, be careful, you may be surprised as to what you may find there, appearance have fooled many of men.

Like so many women fstop only sees these situations from a prejudicial womans point of view. She considers your attempt in the "best interests of the child" to be an unreasonable request.

Utter nonsense, both sexes are equally guilty in those situation using their own offspring as a weapon against the person they supposedly loved so much in not so distant past. She is right, it's all just an excuse to get even at the other person all at an expense of ones own child in the name of "what's best for that child", let me rephrase that "what they think is best" and all rationalization in the world will not change that reality.

Food / Looking for a Polish bread or something that sounds like "splechanka" [20]

I feel like I'm needing to somehow justify myself in this situation

Not at all, that's not what I meant by what I have said. All I'm saying is that this ceremony has to be performed by the priest regardless of the participation of the local community or the settings be it urban or rural. If you ever have a chance to take part in this Mass do it, even if you're not religious type. I once took part in (Pielgrzymka) from Chicago to Merrillville Indiana (yes they have those too) loads of fun. Perhaps you're right there's much larger Polish community there so they organize those kind of events.

Food / Looking for a Polish bread or something that sounds like "splechanka" [20]

I wonder if it has to do with the fact that these churches were in the city.

This is celebrated on Saturday evening not Easter Sunday, just recently I took part in this Mass in Chicago, same as in Poland. There's more to Easter Saturday then just the blessing of the food most of you probably attend. In the evening you have the blessing of the fire (Cererum Paschalis) which in turn is used to bless the water. I'm sure the same takes place in other RC parishes, perhaps there's a smaller number of participants but the ceremony still has to take place, after all your local church uses the holly water just the same, where on earth do you suppose it all comes from? Same holds true for the ashes used on Ash Wednesday to smear your forehead.

From my experience of US service-personnel, if they think a comrade is threatened it is nearly impossible to stop them trying to get involved.

They must have been scared shitless then or they were thought this lesson before. LOL

And you of course have a link to a reliable source which supports your little tale.

I would imagine that after spending 17 years in Poland you could do that for yourself.

If your story has any truth in it at all (which is rather unlikely, to say the least), it would most probably have been a cabbie getting what was coming to him.

Interesting how the attitude changes so quickly. Yup just what I have suspected another douchebag, this time with a Aus passport of uncertain background, same thing really.

I guess I must appear to be far less test-worthy than non-white males.

What would be the point of testing You? From my understanding you don’t look at girls.

A few years back there was an incident where a bunch of American servicemen who shared the cab ride beat up a cab driver (guess they did not want to pay for the ride). Btw Harry, a theft since they never did pay for that ride, needless to say the MP’s took them back on board of their ship when the Polish police were called in and arrived on the scene of the crime, they were not allowed to question the men. They sailed away few days later without ever being brought to justice, point is as long as the Americans behave like a douchebags be it as individuals or on administration level like the commanding officer in charge of those men who allowed their boys to get away with their misdeeds by protecting them from local authorities whenever they step out of line there will be more and more incidents like this. A douchebag is a douchebag, you build your own reputation and soon enough American uniform in Poland will be synonymous with that word, you only have yourself to blame.

History / Poland did reasonably well in land terms out of the postwar settlement [270]

So, you seriously think that two governments who discovered during a world war that one of their allies commited a war crime are as guilty of that crime as the government who coldly and in a calculating manner commited the act in total secret and who later tried their hardest to cover up the said crime?

A bit sensitive aren’t you? You missed my point all together, you should reread my earlier comment perhaps you will find many of the points that you have made in there as well it’s time for you to learn to read between the lines grasshopper. This whole exercise was a rebuttal to Delphos point of how wonderful British and American media are and how they defended the truth above all. My point is that the realpolitik and media news stories of the time simply reflect the politics and the goals of the government in charge at the moment as the media is its greatest tool. Nuremburg trials kind of proved it as the war was over and the dawn of new reality. Truth is that in order to salvage what was left of the British Empire the truth once more had to be suppressed, nothing new really, it’s business as usual.

History / Poland did reasonably well in land terms out of the postwar settlement [270]

Oh yeah, that amazing cover-up that was frequently talked about on American (and British) funded media directed at Poland.

That amazing cover-up is in part to be blamed on the western media. At the Nuremberg war crime tribunals Katyn was cited on the list of crimes committed by the Nazis, Goring himself was implicated, where was that media then speaking the truth as to what had happened? I’ll tell you where. A little background to the story first.

Vilet was a U.S serviceman and a POW brought to the Katyn site as part of the Nazis international news conference to publicize the massacre. When Vliet returned to the States he wrote a report that concluded the Soviets were responsible for the murders. Vliet gave a copy of the report to General George Marshall's assistant chief of staff who subsequently buried the information in state bureaucracy. Another American George Earle a captain in US army who was assigned to investigate and compile information relating to Katyn reached the same conclusion, implicating the Soviet Union as the responsible party. However, Roosevelt’s government rejected Earle's findings and officially at least through the media remained convinced of Nazi Germany's responsibility. This action was later defended in front of the US Congress as it was not in American interests to embarrass an ally that the Soviet Union was.

The British government on the other hand publically stated via one of its media outlets the BBC that the British government stood firmly behind the Soviet version of the events. British Government publicly rejected the news of the events at Katyn that the Germans had announced just a few days prior when Radio Berlin first broke the story in 1943, mind you this is well ahead of what the Americans did, blazing the trail so to speak. That’s realpolitik for you and the truth as to what the western media and governments are capable of. They fair no better than the Soviets on the Katyn issue. Till this day Katyn remains to be the symbol of mass murder, official lies and propaganda war still waged against Poland by the very same players, not just those told by the Soviets themselves but that of the pillars of democracy where the truth supposedly always prevails, the British and Americans governments and press as well.

BTW Delf the credit goes to the Russians themselves for finally coming clean in the 90’s, as for the western media let’s just say they had nothing to do with that, shall we.

BTW, given that the odd of winning the lottery are one in sixteen million but every year 1.1% of the population are victims of assaults which are reported to the police, it seems that your claim is somewhat less than truthful.

BTW if you factor in the multiple occasions you’ve mentioned earlier I have downplayed those odds.
