Real Estate / Septic systems in Poland [11]

Hi i have been looking in to septic tanks for my build this summer, I am expecting to pay about 300 euros for tank and all the piping required including delivery. We will fit it ourselves. The tank size i am thinking of ordering is for 3-4 people, based on how many gallons allocated to per person.. I have looked in to all the costing of emptying the tank and its really not that bad,

Real Estate / Building a house in Poland need advice from anyone that has built [100]

there are a lot of rogue builders out there pay your 50% upfront, next you see the town drunks leaning on shovels a week later never to be seen again, i heard of 1 local couple that this happened 3 times, so paying for what you want other than taking short cuts is advised.

It is exactly cos of the rogue builders or tooth less villge idots that have tried to convince me they are builders i realise that the only way my house stands a chance of getting built is to do it ourselves.

Olsztyn i think thats where my father in law is from, it should be a lot cheaper over there.

Every one says that to me Olsztyn is cheap. I don't think its cheap any more, the estate agents in Olsztyn told me that house and land prices have gone up 200% in the last two years.

If Olsztyn is cheap i can't imagine what the rest of poland prices are.

there are some unexpected moments e.g. garage floors are tiled.
- everything will be concrete. forget wooden floors upstairs, they're concrete here.

Thats very interesting, concrete floors upstairs i bet thats not cheap,

How much do you think you can build a house for?.

I don't know sean I really don't how much i can build for. The land has permission for a house of 80 sq meters, However i have the plans for a cottage roughly 70feet x 45 feet.I am trying at the moment to do a pricing to see how much i would need. Its all the hidden expenses i will come across i am trying to account for as well. Like the cost of septic tanks and electric connections and fees to all the powers that be. How much based an your experience can a person build a house for in poland

But I have to stress, that a competent qualified builder is very important, they will save you money in the long run.

oh sean just remember i did find an ok builder he wanted 70,000 euro to build a standard size house. Yeah it is going to be our home for a while i want to learn polish

Hello SeanBM

The land owner is selling of plots of 14 in total, of land wich he had gotten permission to sell as indvidual building plots. There is a well, and there are at least 20 houses near by so i didn't think that electric connection would be a problem. Have you build in poland?how long will it take to get planning permission, and services connected

Work / Would previous experience be necessary to teach english in poznan [22]

Im a brit currently living in the UK and I'm going to move to Poznan this summer with my partner.

Hi I am moving to poland soon, i am not planning on teaching english. I thought english in italy, from my experience you do not need experience once you have your Teaching cert.

Alot of schools have ther own material and you just teach from that. After your first month you will be a pro at teaching. There seems to be lots of work i have been offerd work teaching english, But it will be a last resort for me.Good Luck in your new career,

Love / What do Polish girls think about Gypsies? [116]

Because Gypsies are possibly the lowest step on the social ladder in Poland,

thats terrible to think people still think like that but alot of polish girls are looking for a man that can take care of themselves. Are there no polish nice gypsies out there for you to meet?

Love / I adopted the Polish culture by way of my husband [12]

yeah i know all poles are not like i know so many well educated poles living it up in london. But there are lots of

ignorant brutes who are only able to toil in the field and then drink vodka. I also wouldn`t like to stay there and would refuse to adopt such culture from my foreign partner.

ignorant brutes and brutessa living like this and they seem to be under the impression that we in the uk are all millionares. They seem to have a chip on there sholulder and believe they have gotten a raw deal,

Love / I adopted the Polish culture by way of my husband [12]

I get from this post that the mother and family are not living in poland am i write. I am married two and a half years to a pole and i will never adopted the culture i have witinessed in the part of poland where his family lives. It is not living they do its existing and women just do not have the same amount of freedom in his village that i have been used to in the uk. For example most of the women in the village don't drive and don't even want to learn sure why woild they when their husband can do it. Any way there is no where to drive to cos there is absoulty nothing to do. Their life is just filled with hard work to surrive and drinking vodka as there is still nothing to do after work. When i was there in the winter it was dark at 3pm in the afternoon the roads were really bad it was freezing out and the only thing to do is drink vodka. AND I DON'T EVEN DRINK. this has been my experience.
