Irish MMA and boxing champion Conor McGregor has weighed in on the knife attack in Dublin and subsequent violent protests.

He shared his thoughts on X in response to Garda commissioner Drew Harris referring to the protesters as a 'hooligan faction driven by far right ideology'.

Three children aged between five and six, and a woman in her 30s, were hospitalised after an attack outside a school in Dublin city centre this afternoon.

He has used his platform to call for action and criticise the chief of police.

McGregor said: 'Innocent children ruthlessly stabbed by a mentally deranged non-national in Dublin, Ireland today.

'Our chief of police had this to say on the riots in the aftermath. Drew, not good enough.

Philadelphia law enforcement has found a suspect in the killing of Josh Kruger, a leftist journalist and local activist who had a history of downplaying violent crime in the city.

While an arrest warrant has not yet been issued, Deputy Police Commissioner Frank Vanore reported that authorities plan to bring the man into custody and ask him some questions.

Vanore said that while authorities believe the shooter was a man Kruger knew, a motive had not yet been identified for the killing.

"We don't want to close any doors," he explained. "We're working hard to try and fortify that person of interest."

Anonymous law enforcement services have said that initial evidence and interviews suggest the homicide was domestic in nature, or drug-related, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The 39-year-old Kruger lost his life on Monday after he was shot seven times at a residence in the 2300 block of Watkins Street around 1:30 am.

He was infamously known for mocking people who had expressed concerns about violent crimes in Philadelphia.

The meetings will end with a vote on specific proposals that are then put to the pope for his consideration in the coming years.

Rather than focus on a single topic as is usual, this synod's agenda will address the broad question of how the Catholic church can be more inclusive. The change is reflected in the voting structure, with lay people also being allowed to vote for the first time.
