History / Poland in a Slavic Union/Alliance/Federation? [335]

Many many, rock. Pages in fact.

I read some of them now.

Yusuf Ercin Sonmez, he's your man

Ok, he is Turkish but this does not mean that he is working for Turkish government.

I really do not understand why you try to find at least one bad image (very spesific one)about Turks when you are trying to say some good things. It is very funny.lol

If you want me appreciate your knowledge and this is the stimulus for mentioning him ok I appreciate you. lol

You can not find anybody in Turkey who will support his acts.

I hope he will be punished soon. That's all.

Crow,

What you show about German tactics in ex-Yugoslavia in WW2 is not related to Turkey or Turks.

It is mentioned that an Arab muftu is used by Germans against Serbs and Jews. They used Ottoman Empire ( which is ended in 1923 almost 20 years before WW2) too to reach their aimes.

Again there is not any relation with Turkey and Turks.

IN WW2 a lot of Jews came to Turkey escaping from Nazis. Turkey welcomed them.

Your Turkish islamists theory is a bullshit.

Turkish Islamists and German imperialists always allayed on Balkan against strongest Slavic faction in the region- Serbians

You are so stupid.

Turks are muslims but most of them are not islamists.

Can we call members of any nation in Europe as christainists.

There is a big difference between believing a religion and being a fanatic of that religion.

I am sure that Europeans are more religious than Turks.

While I am not a liberal rock

Do not feel that I am following you but in ''What do Poles think about Turks'' thread post 674 you say '' I am a liberal ''. Now you say the opposite.

You need an explanation I think. Otherwise no need to talk anymore.

Fortunately now their territory is a very small percent of the peninsula.

In that very small percent of the peninsula 10.000.000 Turks live which is equal to whole Greece population.

On the other hand, Turkey has got a very positive impact on the folks of a lot of Balkan nation and still a lot of Turks are living in Balkan countries remained from Ottoman times.

Ask Bosniaks, Macedonians, Albanians and Kosovans or Turks living in Greece (150.000), Bulgaria (800.000) if Turkey is in Balkan or not.

I've got to admit...all the people from the Balkans on this forum all brag about their countries lol.

Yes and it is good I think. Patriotism does not mean racism. Patriots have respect for other nations.
I think people in this forum knows that I am not insulting other nations, races, religions etc.

I believe World State idea is utopic. What kind of a state can it be ? Liberals like you wants to show it as an ideal where all human beings will be equal. But in fact you are serving to the richest families of the world.

As a social democrat I am sure that I am more sensitive to the poorness and starvation in Africa than a liberal.

What is your behavior to them?

Mostly friendly. One example, there are many football players from Africa in almost every team in Turkish league. I never heard that any of them complained from racism. Another example can be my friend from Kongo in university. After university he did not turn back to his country and worked in Turkey.

Religion is not that important for good majority of Turkish people (Especially in western part of Turkey). I know many Turkish girls who will not care religion if they like the guy.

You are right Mephias and I am sure there are some marriages too.

A Turkish girl can marry a Polish guy. Her parents will not be happy at the beginning. It is not about religion but mostly because of language difference and possibility of their daughter's leaving Turkey.

If the guy stays in Turkey, learns Turkish and can find a good job, there will not be a problem.

By turks I think he means Ottomans

Interesting statement. Who were the Ottomans ? Chinese ? lol.

Algeria was one of the most important bases of Ottoman navy at that time. This does not mean that Algerians were captured some cities in Ireland etc. Algeria was in Ottoman rule and Turkish marins were working there and possibly use some Algerians too.

If a navy from Falkland attacks Argentina, will you say they are not British but Falklanders.lol

History / Poles in the Crusades to the Holy Land [75]

Turks were in defence when crusaders came. That is from 1095 to 1272.

They saw that christains are not good friends.

Then, Turks wanted to show their power and attacked between 1308-1679.

See what happened. Turks captured even some cities in England, Ireland and Iceland.

History shows that Turkey and west of Turkey have a lot in common.

It is like thesis anti-thesis.

Admit or not Turks are a European nation.

Come one by one if you can please. lol

In March 1095 at the Council of Piacenza, ambassadors sent by Byzantine Emperor Alexius I called for help with defending his empire against the Seljuk Turks. Later that year, at the Council of Clermont, Pope Urban II called upon all Christians to join a war against the Turks, promising those who died in the endeavor would receive immediate remission of their sins.[17]

I have a Bulgarian housemate and he doesn't seem to like Turks. Why? Did Turks rape Bulgarians?

We did not rape them but we ruled them 500 years :)

George8600

I agree most of your opinions in your previous posts but not the post above.

If you are not from another planet or time ( Hımmmm can 8600 be year 8600 ? ) you have to be aware of global and regional powers in todays world. You don't have to go middle ages. Nothing changed George.

So-called modern democracy USA which you live in is an Empire of modern times. She thinks that she has right to control all countries and take their sources whenever she wants. But of course, they make some naive people like you believe that she is spreading democracy in the world. We see USA democracy in Iraq for 7 years.

George, if you say I do not want any power other than USA, I do not accept your opinion but respect. But if you say this power issue is about ultra -nationalism in Balkans, I can say you are an American fool.

History / What do Poles think about Turks? [761]

Poles are very traditional from custom and also conservative through church beliefs/indoctrination. They tend to stick with known paths and are more homogeneous than most I have come into contact with.

I think Poland have the potantial to be a power in Europe. But if this mentality goes on it is almost impossible.

Yes, our national drink is Rakı :)

History / What do Poles think about Turks? [761]

In all my dealings with Turkish people (online chess a lot), they are always polite. There is not this guarantee here at all with Poles.

I am surprised you emphasize all positive features for Turks and negative for Poles. When I visited Prague last year, it is said that Czechs are mostly atheists. How can Poland be such conservative. Is it a tale or a truth ?

About politeness, it is true I think. One example : In a thread last week a Turkish girl wrote that she wants to teach English or Turkish in Poland and wanted to have some info. A lot of posters began to criticize her English. A Turk usually pays attention not to hurt someone in that situation even if he/she notices that her English is not good.

Turks usually supports the weak side and not attacks.

Turks are sneaky. The Turk tries always to deceive you.

What is funny Greeks are defined as sneaky in Turkey.

In Turkey you seldom see women dressed in hot mini skirts, shorts etc.You don't see companions of males drinking vodka on big tables.

Yes mostly women do not dress in mini skirts nowadays. But in 1970's there was mini skirt fashion and in big cities a lot of women were dressing in mini skirts.

I have to confess that sex is not as free as Europe but drinking is not like that. Turks like to drink, you can find a lot of pubs, bars.

History / What do Poles think about Turks? [761]

In the nationality of the Turks, Indians, Pakis and Arabs all have dark skin, almost the same dark hair and eye color.

For Turks, this statement is totaly wrong. Turks are a federation of many tribes in a very large geography containing today's west China, Siberia, Tataristan, Caucasia. There were blond hair blue eyed Turkish tribes too.

Turks vary a lot in terms of physical appereance so There are lot of natural blond woman in Turkey. Yes, Turks can chase a blond woman in Europe but only if she is beautiful.

For me, the comments above are more than funny. Of course there are some ignorant Turks living in Europe but generalizing whole nation is wrong.

The goat issue is just ********. If you do not mean thousands of Russian and Ukranian ho res working in Turkey as goats. If a man needs sex and has not got a partner he has to pay only 100 USD for a Russian ho re.

Turks did not invaded Cyprus, saved Cyprus Turks from a genocide on time and will not let these attempts again.

Life / Poles - what other nationality would you say you are most like? [125]

Turks and Magyars are cousins and two nations are aware of that fact.

Other comments are just a speculation.

The word "Hungarian" is thought to be derived from the Bulgar-Turkic Onogur, possibly because the Magyars were neighbours (or confederates) of the Empire of the Onogurs in the 6th century, whose leading tribal union was called the "Onogurs" (meaning "ten tribes" or "ten arrows" in Old Turkic; see below)
