News / Coal-Powered Poland Refuses to "Go Green". EU Ain't Happy. [304]

The EU overrides a sovereign when it comes to that sovereign's well being?

There has been quite a conspiracy surrounding these "facts". What to stop Poland from looking into clean coal? Or nuclear?

News / Does Poland support the idea of Slavic unity? [129]

Babinichu, why discourage pan-Slavic feelings? Idea of Slavic union is noble one. Its more then SU. Idea could be applied on some future Commonwealth

The lessons of the EU are clear.

Nations do not need collapse into a union in order to trade with or come to the defense of other nations.

News / Polish People STILL denied US Entry [96]

President Obama will appeal to Polish American voters this summer and will lift restrictions. It's the political thing to do and no previous president has appealed to 'block' voters like this one has.

appealed/manipulated... You like potato and I like potahto...

That honor goes to FDR in 1944

USA, Canada / If America is so bad, why move here? [254]

Maybe the US can learn something from Germany

i agree that the Germans have a great labor conflict resolution system in place.

I too agree that the German educational systems is light years ahead of what the US has to offer. (Can you imaging the American university system willing to share some of the pie?)

~~~
But...
Do German banks separate the commercial side from the investment side?
In 2008/2009 when the German economy weakened was it the cash reserve of companies or government subsidies that kept companies' heads above water?
Has the weakened Euro aided or detracted from the German export industry?
How levered are EU central banks?
German sovereign debt is approximately eighty-one percent of GDP. The Germans can't recap their banks because they don't have the money to do so. When will German backs recap? When they recap will the sovereign debt to GDP ratio get better or worse?
News / Nigel Farage voice of reason for Poland and EU? [79]
As I said - they were elected. We, as Europeans, voted for people who then voted for them. I hope that in time, we'll see a directly-elected European President to represent the EU - but this is a first step.
For what it's worth - Van Rompuy at least seems to be doing a pretty decent job of coordinating a common European position. That's good, right?
Question: In all of this EU mess, is nationalism on the rise or the decent?
Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2315]
there is a reason the economy is in the toilet and the rich are getting richer and not paying their fair of taxes.
The top ten percent paid seventy percent of federal income taxes. Forty-nine percent of U.S. households paid no federal income tax at all.
News / Over 2 million Poles drowning in debt [19]
I think you'll find its quite a bit more than that if you delve into the areas which the governments try to hide from the public. It is absolute madness though - the world owing money to itself. I mean how is that even possible?
Why? Because no matter how hard the elites try to create one world government the world is, and will always be, comprised of multiple sovereigns.
News / Visegrad Battle Group under the command of Poland [261]
BB,
It seems as if your leaving out those Soviet divisions formed east of the Urals.
You're also leaving out the Americans. The Americans had a role in WWI & WWII.
History / Poland's biggest historical blunder? [341]
And we give out alot of money to Poland too....have to invest in our colonies! And we have that money...after all you will be well looked after subjects of Berlin!
How's the forfeiture of money in order to prop up a pipe dream looking to the German people?
When will your leaders get smart and go back to sovereignty?
News / Visegrad Battle Group under the command of Poland [261]
Maybe, but it should avoid the same downfalls as Prussia/Germany experienced. To much agressive power and Europe will show you to that you will lose in the end.
Are you counting the Soviets as Europeans?
History / Poland's biggest historical blunder? [341]
the supposed sale to the USSR at Yalta
The "sale" of Poland to the USSR occurred just before Tehran. A deal brokered by American and Soviet apparatchiks.
Churchill knew nothing about it.
History / Why did Russia attack Poland in WW2? [178]
In fact as recently discovered documents show Zhukov proposed to Stalin to hit Germany in April 1941 in a surprise attack and Stalin was not unmoved however he dismissed the plan since the soviet preparations had still not be completed.
And how would that field trip have worked out for the Soviets?
Every one earns the same amount.
History / Poland Lithuania - current relations [124]
I never really understood where all this anxiety comes from; given the fact that hardly any Pole (or German) can remember the war as an eye witness.
Why write history if the goal is to live only in the present?
History / Why did communism in Poland fail? [180]
The better question would be why did Communism fail.
Why? Because it failed to provide its citizens the quality and quantity of consumption that had become the standard of modernity over the last third of the twentieth century.
News / US Military: The Army of Poland is crap. [124]
I am Polish. I am patriot. I was a solider. And sadly, I think that the Polish army IS a crap.
I can elaborate, but really - is that necessary?
Please do elaborate for those of us who didn't serve.
