UK, Ireland / Time for the Poles from the UK to go home [437]

Brown made him look like a bumbling fool as Blair always did.

True. But Brown is hardly the most respected head of state either... I reckon he's on the way out.

horses have been wearing string vests to soak up sweat for years. I'm not sure what nationality this one is, looks kind of German though.

UGG boots: I went to Africa in a pair of cheap Ugg boots.. well it was cold when I left home and I didnt know the airline was going to lose my luggage for 5 days.. so until I could get to the local market to buy some flipflops I was traipsing around in 30 degrees in a pair of the aforementioned boots, which I can tell you is not a good thing in that kind of weather. Personally I resisted buying any of these boots for a very long time as I thought (and still do) that they are ugly, however, when its cold outside there is something to be said for them. Has anyone seen those disgusting knitted versions .. they are just wrong on all levels. Last week I saw a man in a pair of Ugg boots in London, is this acceptable? He had his jeans tucked inside them and I just thought.. .wrong!

Its not a question of being lazy, its about knowing what you are worth. If you are more skilled than someone else then you wouldnt (or shouldn't)feel happy accepting a lower wage or even the same wage as them.. and why should you? Employees who look for cheap labour will generally get what they deserve.. inexperienced workers and/or a shoddy job. The amount of cheap labour flooding the workforce in the UK is providing choice and competition but is also undoubtedly forcing some professional tradespeople to change profession as they do not want to work for a pittance.

does anyone think those Polish street fashion pics are really fashionable?

No no no. You see, "fashion" in America starts in California

OMIGOD.. dont even get me started on Californian 'fashion'. I may not be American, but even I know that the fashion capital of the USA is New York.

why is there no colour in the streets?

Do they? Maybe in the City during the week when some people have to conform to a dress code. Otherwise this just isnt the case at all. Maybe its the kind of places that you go and people that you meet?

Just out of interest, was his dress sense that bad before that you needed to save him

not too bad, just Polish style. Cheap trainers and jeans. However, you need to be careful what you wish for as now he is more into clothes than me and i can hardly get in the wardrobe. Not sure about the polka dot jeans, unless they sell them in TopMan?

bit Whitney dressed as Britney

I love that! would rather look like Whitney than Britney these days. I'm older than you and I like to dress up too, its all about knowing your body and what you can (and cannot) get away with isnt it. The wrong clothes can be so ageing. I dont know why some people think they have to radically change their style when they reach a certain age. When Im older I want to be one of those eccentric old ladies who dont give a damn what people think and dress eclectically.

pink is not for polish males

Ive got my partner into pink, at first he thought it was a bit gay, but has now embraced it. Only tops though, not trousers. I am now trying to convince him of the merits of purple.

My predictions for spring are coral, lemon, all range of pinks and other sorbet colours. Plus red and navy, especialy nautical stripes. Green and will always be a winner in my book and polka dots too.

and there is the difference between men and women. Girls worry about having nice clothes and boys only worry about how to get them off!

Londonchick..you should never tone down your style for anyone..be proud of who you are and how you look and sod what anyone else thinks. That what I love about Britain, the individuality of style and that we dont all feel the need to conform to one look. On that note, there was a British girl murdered recently for being a goth. Her and her boyfriend had their heads kicked in by a couple of teenage boys just for looking different and she died. He says that he wont change the way he looks because then they will have won. The two boys have just got life sentences and they are only 15.

whats happening here is the world turning gay is the youth going mad i think so .......... its sick !!!!

no, its just cos you are from SA, where they have no fashion sense whatsoever! Seems to me that the same fashions hit Poland on average about 2 years after they are popular in the UK.

there have been previous threads on this if you check. There are obviously differences in prices, but I do think that personal styles in Poland differ too, especially from the UK. You can see the difference in the clothes of Poles newly arrived in the UK to those who have been here for some time. Again, of course it depends on where they come from.. I imagine fashion is not so important in a rural area or even small provincial town as it is in bigger cities..much like everywhere really.

UK, Ireland / Polish immigration in UK [491]

in y

In fact, the way that most of them (asylum seekers) are treated by UK and Western Europe is nothing short of horrific

in your opinion no doubt. Having working in asylum centres in the UK I would have to disagree. There are two sides to everything, but personally I think that the UK is one of the more lenient countries when it comes to asylum seekers, too much so for our own good.

We have decided a third country is the only place we can really be on even ground.

I myself am dating a Polish guy and although he is not the best-looking guy I've ever met there is something about him..

I agree with this.. its the differences that attract.. and at times also pull you apart.

lets not forget pork scratchins..

you can rarely find pork scratchings in London.. I thought they were a Midlands thing, but sounds like they have them up North too? As for crisps, I dont touch anything except Walkers Salt & Vinegar.

UK, Ireland / A collection of noimmigration's threads or "STAY AWAY from BRITAIN" [978]

all immigrants of course! Geez ..I think there should be a campaign to get racist, ignorant Brits to leave their own country and welcome more foreigners who are keen to work. The only question is where do we send them? Any ideas??

BTW go back 2 ur country if u dont like the fact that POLISH PPL RULE ENGLAND!

Nah. England is ruled by the Scots (Gordon is a moron), and the Royal family are German/Greek ancestry

He's right. When did the Poles take over the country? I must have been asleep...and it were true, where would I go, since this is my home?

I'm not even gonna go there with defending my fellow countrymen's right to throw up in the streets of Krakow or wherever.. we Brits have been doing this since time began, so why should we stop now?

Love / Polish Women Versus Your Local Women ? [289]

just want to add my ten pence worth.......polish women are better than the women here beacuse the polish woman will look after her apperance and over here its just not the case

where exactly is 'over here?' where no woman looks after her appearance? anyway if its true, they are probably just the ones you have met and they couldnt be bothered since you didnt either.
