Life / Uptight Poles [262]

Well, it is what it is. I'm Taurus with my feet strongly planted on the ground. I'm not the one floating in the blue skies ruffling my feathers and denying reality :) A pretty picture, but real? Just like angels, I guess.

USA, Canada / Chicago's 1.1 million Polish Americans celebrated Constitution Day [47]

they like to be Polish when it suits them, but when it comes to actually doing anything for Poland, they run away and ignore it.

Delphia-Dope has so much to say about Polonia... instead, he should be talking about his Russki roots and be an expert in it. It's mind buggling that he can not be able to look in the mirror and assess his credentials. Living in Poland for a few years makes you an expert in NOTHING. Me, living in the US for 30+ years, makes me an expert and I can express my feelings about my Polishness and my US expertise. Going to Constitution Day parade or Taste of Polonia is one of them. So, put your face in a bucket of sh**t and hush. I will express my Polish roots just how I want it ant not how you think I should. Go and wave your commie Russian flag on October 17.

Love / How do Polish men feel about gender equality? [780]

A man ( a husband) should be able to help his mate in the kitchen and anywhere she needs helps or want one. And, Havok, she should not need to ask you :).

a crow knows it's a crow and not a swan

Not really, many crows think they are swans and it's good to bring them to reality.

Then it's time to join the civilized world and step away from 'natural selection'. Animals and birds do it. Not that it's wrong for a female bird to pick a boy with the most bright eyes or the the best looking nest he built for her... Humans have more choices. :)

But how can you teach the margin what the norm is? It starts in your home. I'm so glad I was not brought up in Socrates's home. I wonder if he's got a sister.

He made a very embarrassing statement. I hope he will recover from it... I listened to a Polish radio station yesterday and kids were talking. Wow! Six year olds were already saying some 'macho' things. Polish fathers tend to disrespect their wives and women in general, apparently. (Where would the kid take the ideas from?) It was funny what the boys said, but it was alarming too. I can't even imagine, and I never heard American six year old saying this kind of stuff. Pretty sad.

Good job, Havok. I agree. Shake off the darn chip off your shoulder my dear Poles. You are not the most important person in the world. Not in the USA, not in the EU. Who the heck put it in your mind?

You're a woman, women as a lower lifeform are incapable of speech

Incapable of speech? I thought we're the ones who keep talking and you're just the supposedly strong, silent type mute :) As to lower life form..hmm, you would not be here posting if it was not for your mother. You really should have thought a little before you post. Live up to the nic you chose, 'Sokrates". The Greeks are embarrassed now.

'

"Slut Rights"; what a concept. Thank you feminism.

Jeeze, Zimmy..problem with women? LOL. Every man wants his wife to be a slut in the bedroom and Madonna everywhere also. You know, it's it's hard to fill both shoes..either a slut everywhere or a nice, modest, shy girl that nobody notice. YOU - guys, just need to know how to fix faucets, paint, fix the car...etc., don't forget to bring a nice paycheck home too. Phew, feminism...thank God. About time we stop making 76 cents (I think that's the latest) on your dollar. We are better than you anyway. Viva feminists!

I agree, people tend to have certain believes (drugs, botox) yet, they see a harm in smoking. Some people I know are vegetarians, eat lots of veggies but don't believe in organic food...My friend eats only raw foods, no meat...., and looks quite aged for her age...really, we all need to let other people be. Does anybody know what really works? Naah..My former landlady lived to 93 and smoked since she was 17, healthy and smart as a button. I say, it's all in the genes.

Love / Hot Polish girls in clubs - why don't they dance/talk with the most attractive men only? [148]

I'm commenting on girls who rather date ugly colored or ugly whites with ponytails than

Maybe they are beautiful inside? Unlike you? Beauty is skin deep. Don't tell me that you never seen an ugly woman with a handsome man or an ugly man with a beautiful woman. Women like men with some kind deep essence in them... We are way too often disappointed with the cute but brainless ones. So, if she finds it with a colored man or an ugly man, who are you to judge? And, it's not just Polish women only. General statements like this make you come across as uneducated and full of prejudice dude.

Bzi, if a friend asked me not to smoke in her presence or in her home, I would certainly honor her wishes. I remember being in bars or homes full of smoke and without open windows... But, if she tried to give me a lecture about smoking, I'd tell her to go to he*l. It amazes me that people who who feed on canned and processed food dare to mind smoking. Processed food is much worse than smoking, yet - there are no restrictions. Being in a company of a smoker, OMG, it will kill you right away! I blame marketing for this BS. No, I'm not saying smoking is good, it is not. Let's just not make it the villain of diseases nowadays. Additive, Red No 5 or 3, which makes food look pretty, is just as bad.

USA, Canada / What do Poles think about drinking raw milk? In America, unpasteurized milk is PROHIBITED. [49]

I also was brought up on fresh milk and its home made products: cheese, butter, sour milk etc. I was healthy then and I'm healthy now. The cows were fed on grass from spring to fall and hey during the winter, and they had yearly shots. I've never had allergies then or now. Unfortunately, I am stuck with store bought milk and the best I can do is buy pasteurized organic. I wish there was a farm i could buy it from but no such option. I can understand why the milk has to be pasteurized coming from remote locations and taking days to the grocery stores shelf. I would not have it any other way.

History / Question on Poland 1980-82 (the history of Solidarity during the years of 1980 and 1981) [17]

I turned on Radio Free Europe. Yes. That night they elected Karol Wojtyla to be the next Pope.

I was a high school kid at that time. To this day I remember how it was announced on Polish TV news and how uncomfortable the speaker was. He just said it in a scripted, nonchalant way and it was visible how embarrassed and uncomfortable he was to say it.

I can ride my motorcycle

Yeah, it's a good deal to ride a motorcycle in the summer. Soon, we'll be riding motorcycles and bikes and walk to work, like in Europe.Eekk. I WANT TO KEEP DRIVING MY BUTT! And walk when i want to - not because I have to.

Really? SC and NC are in the tornado zone. NC gets snow just about every winter. I have a friend in Charlotte. It sure is much better than Chicago but it can get cold too. Besides, I'm not jealous of the 100F in the summer heat, a couple of days of that in Chicago is plenty for me.

Canada enjoys high comodity prices at this point.

But our gas is still less expensive than yours now. Is it? I filled up with $4.19 a gallon today. It hurts but still ok..$5.00 or $6.00 a gallon will be a pain. Aww, it wasn't too long ago when people complainedd about $3.00 a gallon.

Life / Do you think that Polish people are rude? [951]

I just do not respond.

Oh, that's rude...why would you assume that the person who asked does not mean it? Let's say I tripped and fell on the street and someone asked me 'Are you all right?' I'd be happy to respond either I'm OK or I think I twisted my ankle...instead of the instant negative approach...you don't know me, why do you care.

Hebrew: 19;

Every language has a mixture of borrowed words. I think every language has the word 'Internet' now, right?
Are you listing borrowed words in Polish language? If so, I'm surprised that there are only 19 from Hebrew. Do you have a link?

Food / What do non-Poles think about eating the following Polish foods? [1303]

Did somebody say 'bób'? I am ready to go on a killing spree as long as I find a victim in front of a plate of bób. It's been decades since I had a some real, fresh, boiled bób. Some Mexican produce centers have something similar in season but that's not exactly it...

Bób is packed withnutritionn. Step aside red meat.

USA, Canada / Moved back from Canada to Poland:). Here are the reasons why. [868]

the SECOND egg has arrived while I was away.

I'm not sure what's the usual amount of eggs they lay but it sounds like your balcony will be very busy when the feeding time comes. Get your camera ready and snap some pictures. It sounds like you are pretty much settled and it wasn't too hard...Sometimes I have thoughts of retiring in Poland some day...

Love / Polish girls' attitude towards different kinds of sex [88]

Quote

I am disappointed.
The topic is "Polish girls' attitude toward different kinds of sex"
I thought I would read about amazingly imaginative and unusual way of making love.

Yeah, me too. Kitchen table..uncomfortable and boring. Nature? What about the ants and other crawling creatures? Eek. Leather and whips..hmmm, but not for all. Elevator? Maybe? The naughty waitress costume or the stewardess? Well, can be fun. Oh, wait, how about the famous chandelier swinging, has anybody tried it? Lol. Y'know, there is nothing better than a coziness of a bedroom. I don't care what anybody says. Keep your fantasies going and dream on.

Socialism is the most humane system of government on Earth and it will come to all the world eventually and this includes the U.S.A. my country.

Wow! So... you want to stand in a long line to buy food and wait for doctor's appointment for six months? Is that your new American dream? You really don't get it. Sadly, if more people don't wake up, it may come to this. We'll have the members of Politburo (read government employees, CEOs, etc) owing expensive cars and dachas in the mountains and the rest of us will barely make a living. That's your future Mr. Des Essientes.
