I believe Tobiczyk is also related ( way up there) to my mothers side.

:) For all who can help out on Genealogy resources for Poland.

Many Americans want to find out more about their familys history. Polish
History (documents) etc can be very frustrating for the Majority because so
many do not speak/read Polish.

If anyone is willing to google some Polish sites that also offer English to those who
want research their ancestors that would be a Excellent guide to helping those
who have trouble locating documents in Poland or even surnames.

Add your links to the sticky posts so that they are easily found for those
researching :)

first of all, without proper knowledge I cant help you.

when did your family immigrate?

if it was early on, I can direct you to the ellis island site. they have up to 1924.
if it was late I can look into my ancestry and see if there is anyone by that name
and the location Which I need that too, what state :)

as for records. I will try to find a link to the town name, unless it was later
on. genealogy is hard, you have to have little more then just the name because
the name could be spread around the world :)

so info I need is.

location of where they grew up
(make sure they always stayed there too :)

Time frame of immigration. I will check some stuff out and see if I can lead you
in right direction :)

some times local librarys have genealogy like Obits and old news articles.
thats another direction you can also try for now till I get a location of this family
in the states. :)

Nope Koach, but there is alot of holy cross cemeteries , mines in Michigan.
if you also need to get records from the cemetery, you can write to them
the only prob with them is, sometimes they wont search without a date of death
which is the reason your searching, so I sum it up to lazy and excuses.

if you need some help locating, I can try, maybe we can find some dates for you
to get you going on the mailing etc :) Let me know.

then reading some of the stuff on here, I know its only a thread, but my thoughts
are, holy crap, you really go around calling people names in public? or do you

I wasnt mad, just frustrated. I have friends who are russian, she is so sweet
and so seeing this thread, well, of course its bothersome to see it keep coming
up, I am even guilty to respond, but I have to respond to your post to clear
up my end of the misunderstanding.

I think all women deserve respect, when we are children, we grow and we try
to learn what is right and wrong, and some do things not because they want to
but because they have to, society doesnt help those who turn in the wrong directions
and those who have to do things they wouldnt do otherwise just to put themselfs
through schooling to become a better person.

This is where I am coming from. I know, its not right to do things bad to people
and some do this because they are past help, and maybe are doing drugs or
just plain out have lost hope and have been treated badly for so long its a way of
life. yes there are some who take advantage. but as a woman, how can she
respect a man who is wanting things for money, or cheating, why should it be the
woman who lacks respect, when its the man who is asking for the deed?

Hi 4thgrader , if you go to the genealogy section in the polish forums, you will find the
link you can click on steve morse website which will take you to a form you want to
type in your great grandfathers last name and put the year in between 1902 and 1904
and that will bring up all the people with your grandfathers last name. then you can
determine which one.

if you need further help, you can email me at Pleeska19@yahoo and give me
the last name I will find it and forward it to you or give you the link and the
directions to find it ok :) my daughter did genealogy too, so it can be hard
but starting it now, you will find alot of really cool stuff trust me :)

yes, they just used the male last name in the U.S. but I found out long time ago
the two different meanings for last name female being ska and male ski

I was also told, that the Sky Meant that they were from Russia. <~? scratches
head, and this was a cousin of mine. I didnt think that had anything to do with
it, because during two different time periods my grandma was german pole and
then she was russian pole

but I learned alot thru genealogy searches.

poland changed so much, so many times. when you mentioned jankowice
I was thinking malopolskie, the way to get the records is writing the parish
but you have to make sure cause now there are more churches.

Krysia can probably locate more then me with this one. or even Wroclaw.
I am better with states. but I did get docs from poland.

I do have sobieski name also in my tree, thats why that town is familiar

I have Sobecki and Sobieski, and I have pics of these folks too, I am going to look

yes it could, because name spellings come up differently. never say never :)

Mormon site has a history center, they microfilmed tons of stuff in Poland.

you can do a town search and see what is microfilmed. do you have a local
history center?

ya know what I will check and see if you have any in Australia.
if you do, you can order these films and go copy the records of all folks pertaining
to your last name and figure it out from there.

you just answered your own question. those who came from poland never had plans
to stay ( this is the impression I am getting) so those who are going back to poland
but only here to make money, sounds like she is getting free meals till its time to go
back. plus it also sounds like she doesnt want a permanent relationship , and of
course, saying those words and actually doing something about it are two different
things. if I woman really loves a man, you will know it by all the things she is doing
and her wanting to be there every day with you.
