Genealogy / Do I look Polish? (my picture) [375]

Merged: I look more of which? Polish and Irish? Fitting into Poland.

So I'm Polish and Irish. My grandad was from Krakow, Poland. My mother is from Chicago. My dad is also Irish and Polish. My grandad was blonde hair, blue eyes, and had really high cheek bones with squinty and sort of slanted eyes. He was 6'4. My mom tells me I look both. Also, since I have family who returned to poland I plan on moving one day. Would I fit in? I'm 5'6 btw

I'm pretty low-key to be honest. I mind my own business and my grandfather left Poland because of warnings of Hitler's attack on Krakow. We used to have royalty but I doubt that means much now as there's no king. I speak a bit of Polish but not fluently. I love learning and learning about heritage. I know the USD is worth more in Poland. I'm just ready to learn more honestly. Polish natives also dress more formal in American's eyes? How well would I do speaking English? And advice?

I'm pretty nice unless you choose not to be as well, really open minded and I'm really into music.

If you want I can be more specific. Just ask away.

I'm 18 years old so I'm young, yes. And laugh out loud about your comments about my hat. What else is there to know? And how's the health care there?

Genealogy / Polish looks? [1410]

Alright, so I'm second generation in the US and my mother's side of the family is from Poland, specifically Krakow and my dad was American but he is of Polish and Irish descent. Do you guys think I look Polish? I've been told I do. My family also didn't come to The US til the 1930s and 1940s.

Genealogy / The typical Polish look, or all Eastern Europeans [656]

I've been told I look Polish. I'm second generation in the US and my mothers side of the family comes from Poland(grandparents) and my father who is American is of both Polish and Irish descent. My family immigrated in the 1930s and 1940s. My eyes are green and blue.

People mention my eyes and cheek bones. I've heard as time goes on you start to look like different generations of your family. Wether or not that's true I don't know.

My grandfather was tall, blonde hair, blue eyes, kind of squinty for lack of a better word and somewhat slanted. My moms are the same as his. Do you have info on the Kurek family? History wise.

I'm talking centuries back when it comes how far back I want to look. I know my family didn't leave Poland up until the 1930s, 1940s, I know there were Jews in our family.

I know my family was head of state and I've been told we were royalty and though I knew that I wanted to dig deep into my roots and found history dating back as far as the 12th century. We are apart of a Polish-Lithuanian dynasty. Very interesting. The Kureks. A lot of our money caused my family to lose a lot of their money in the US.

I knew that the royalty died out when Poland was no longer ruled by a king, but if what you say is true were you able to find info on the Kureks? And I also stated before most of our money was lost in the Great Depression in the US, though after World War II I had family return and still have family there. Where can I find more info?

Yes, I've seen this coat of arms. I'd just like to look back as far as I can with the history of my family. I've read this whole page as well. I love learning is all. Especially when I am proud of my family's nation.

Yes, at one point they owned part of Manhattan in New York City and they had stocks invested. They had immigrated to Chicago, New York, and Wisconsin. My family is quite big as well.

Yes. My hair will get really curly. It starts out wavy, and then gets curlier and curlier like an afro sorta but not like you'd think. You've seen the Jewish afros I'm sure and I don't mean offense by that. Don't mean any stereotypes I'm just saying it tends to be common with Jewish though I don't know if that's what makes it that way. It gets poofy.

A picture from when I was younger. Might seem funny to some of you but that is okay. I've heard that honestly. That's funny and I go through the same thing with it feeling like some weird wool.

Here we go.

I have found something on my family in midevil times being from northeastern Poland. This area has been known to have been invaded by Russia in history.

Gold diggers is what we call those women. And the old men with the money are sugar daddies. And the potato reference, okay. I was just like huh cause that seemed random but I get what you mean. That's not bad though. Haha. I think Polish women are pretty attractive, and I don't particularly really care for many other countries besides The Slavic ones.

I'd say the square face is common with the Polish, but not by any means ALL Poles. Poles seem to recede(hairline) quicker. Most also have the idea that all Polish people have blonde hair and blue eyes. How do you guys feel when it comes to getting along with Russians versus Germans?

Correct me if I'm wrong, Paulina, but does this mean my family has heavy Russian ties since they come from the area? Bloodline wise. Though Poles already have some Russian makeup.

Well, my family had always lived in Poland til the 1930s, I'm just curious if we have strong Russian ties because we're from the Plock area originally.
