Love / Are Polish men handsome to you? [182]

I (Dutch,female,35 )have only recently discovered I find Polish men attractive.
Before,I never really noticed them.
But when a handsome guy is digging holes in your yard (for cables) it's pretty hard not to look at that!
Especialy if it happens to be a warm day,and the shirt comes off! ;)

It's true that you can spot a Polish guy from a distance.
There's just something about them....although I can't quite put my finger on it.

Most of my friends don't speak in a positive way about Polish men.
Saying things like: a typical ugly Polish s**t-face. :'(

Hhmmm....I think it's time for me to have new friends.
Because I don't want to be friends with anyone who speaks like that about my boyfriend!!!! :D <3

I know, and I already took some distance from most of them.
Here in Holland racism and discrimination are hot topics.
And in the town where I live, there are now protests going on,to stop migrant workers from coming to live here.
People here would rather see a monumental building being demolished, than to provide housing for Polish workers.
It makes me feel sad that a nation that claims to be open and tolerant can be so narrowminded.

But I'm going a bit off-topic now.
I'm very happy with my new Polish friend.
Oke,maybe his nose is a bit crooked, and his teeth aren't perfect. Actualy, you could even say that he looks a bit 'scruffy'.

But that is richly compensated by the sparkle in his grey-ish/green eyes.
And to me he is the sweetes and most handsome man in the world. :)

@Veles
Nice poem! ;)

They are big and strong in their eyes a flaming glow

I agree on the strong and flaming glow part, but big? Hmmmm nope.....
But maybe that's only because the Dutch are considered to be the tallest people in the world.
And even though I am quite short (1.68 m) according to Dutch standards,my Polish lover is even shorter than me.
Haha...he realy lives up to the meaning of his name! (Paweł means small, modest):p
Most of the Polish men I've met so far aren't very tall.
I guess that's one of the reasons Polish men aren't very popular amongst Dutch women.
They tend to prefer taller men.

Hej,

Can someone help me with this please?
My Polish ex-boyfriend was supposed to come visit me next friday to pick up some stuff.
But this morning he texted me,saying he wants to come this evening.
I asked him why, because he knows that the stuff he needs won't be here untill next week, but I don't understand his reply.

I can't find the meaning in my dictionary and online translators make no sense.
Also can't ask him, because he is working in an area where cellphones have no signal.
So what does : "Bo Mam Ochotę Na Ciebie " mean?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know if this makes any sense at all (I've only been studying Polish for a couple of weeks )
But when I read the lyrics, I think that the yellow chrysanthemums are symbolic.

In some cultures they are a symbol of loyalty , hounesty and trust.
Maybe that is why they are whithering away in a wodka-bottle.(well,my online translator says it's wodka, dunno if that is correct)
Flowers (and also loyalty hounesty and trust )don't thrive well on alcohol.

In other cultures they are a symbol of slighted love or even a forebode of breaking up.

Please translate:
"Przeczucia mylą . Jutro przelej obiecuje co u ciebie"

I don't know what to make of this,
Context:He lied,I found out and confronted him.

Hello people!
I need help again.
Tried different online translators, but results are confusing.

Nie odzywam się żeby nie zakocha się...

I am not the one who wrote it.
I received this message from a Polish friend.

It is still very confusing, even when I try to translate the version Polonius wrote.

Google Translate will even give different results when I select other languages.
For example: PL > EN: They did not speak, not to fall in love
PL > NL Ze sprak niet ....etc (translated: She did not speak)
I tried other languages, all with different results (She didn't want to speak... He did not say...I'm saying... etc)

Translactica gives me this: PL > EN : I am not saying a word in order not to fall in love.

Could it mean that he does not want to talk because he does not want to fall in love with me?
Or maybe he does not want to encourage me to fall in love with him?

Whatever it means...I think I have to agree that it's better not to fall in love. This language barrier is just too big :(

Oke,thank you for helping. :)

Polish is a difficult language and not being able to talk face-to-face doesn't make it any easier.

Another message from my friend:
' Jak jestem kolo ciebie to cie kocham .. a ja nie mogę kochać '

I think I know what he wants to say,but I need to be sure about this one.

Please,can anyone help me again?
I tried Google Translate,but I can't get it right :

I can't say that I'm in love with you...
Because I don't know you.
We never had a fair chance to get to know each other.
And thát is what bothers/pains me.

Thanks in advance
