Shakespeare refers (in a positive manner) to the Poles as 'Polacks,' but in America the word has been used bizarrely as a derogatory term. We should repossess the name, because its pronunciation is practically identical as the Polish pronunciation of the word 'Polak' - our term for a Polish man. (The term for a Polish woman is 'Polka.')

Both 'Pole' and 'Polish' can evoke both negative and positive associations in English (six-foot pole, earth poles; shoe polish, polish = refinement).

- Haven't tried this one yet. My all time favourite is malt scotch (with a smoke necessarily), which I consider the greatest liquor ever invented by man.

- Nope. Is it good? Oh, and I also love Irish whiskey, especially Paddy. To correct my previous statement I shoud say malt scotch and Irish whiskey are the greatest liquors ever invented by man. I know what I'm saying, because I've tried hundreds of liquors and still do.

- Oh yes, they can make their own liquor masterly, don't they? I also like Russian vodka - the real Russian vodka, not pseudo-Russian stuff such as Smirnoff, but the real stuff, e.g. Stolichnaya. It's brilliant.
