Life / I saw Polish nationalism today [249]

About Polish ONR.

I live in Myslenice and for the last few years about 50 skinhead NeoNazi Polish ONR's (from all over Poland not from Myslenice) have marched around in uniform carrying ultra nationalistic Polish flags and banners with neo-nazi symbols such as the sun cross and making Hitler salutes in the market square. They do this to ''celebrate'' the anti-Jewish pogrom that happened here in Myslenice in 1936. It has since been banned because of the NeoNazi acts, especially the Hitler salute.

Polish neo nazis

Various white nationalist and Neo-Nazi groups use the sun cross to represent the white race, i.e., the Western or European branch of the Indo-European peoples.

I think it's great when Polish people take pride in their rich history but this is not patriotism or nationalism, this is hate.

I don't see them on my streets kicking people in the face if that's what you're suggesting by listing US as a #16 on the list.

I am not suggesting that and I did not list them as 16#, it is in alphabetical order and I offered the link to Wiki.

Chile? Because the Nazi's loved dark half-Indian, Catholics?

And Israel and Mongolia, the mind truly does boggle...

My personal opinion is that THEY don't know the WHOLE/TRUE story of the Nazi's that's why it's ok for them to copy it.

Yeah they only live in Poland and what would Poland know about WWII.
You are making excuses.

Exaxctly...

Why do you even argue then?

Because you didn't know any of this until I posted it.
And this group are Neo-Nazis.

Let me ask you guys a question, how do they explain the Hitler's ideology to themselves?

I can only think they are such idiots that they skip the bits where Nazi Germany attacked and killed Poles. That the Slavic people were not part of their plan.

Polish nationalists with ELEMENTS of Nazi stuff I want YOU to stop lying!

So they are not doing the Hitler salute and the suncross symbol on that flag is not a pseudo-swastika used by various neo-Nazi groups?
I saw that symbol for the first time in Norway, so you should also know it.

Maybe you have a point, maybe if people believe in Nazi stuff, commemorate Nazi stuff, dress like Nazis and act like Nazis, that they might not be Nazis...

You're opinion is flawed and so is theirs.

I AM NOT DEFENDING THEM! I AM DEFENDING THE TRUTH!

Do you not know the truth or are you just lying? (I never took you for a liar Mr. G)

All I see are only some actions which looks like Nazi stuff

You mean, all you've seen so far from my answers to your defending them?
You don't know, so why do you jump to their defence?

So they set ablaze Jewish shops and march, then their clearly anti-semites

And they commemorate it with a march every year and make Hitler salutes.
It has been banned.

The Nazis claimed that Jews were the greatest threat to the Aryan race and the German nation. They considered Jews a parasitic race

Well.. Their not Nazi's... If their ONR then their Narodowcy I guess. They may have some Nazi-like stuff on them or something but calling them Nazi's is just.. well wrong...

No it's not, they used to march here and they are Nazis, doing the Hitler salute and they came here every year to celebrate the the expulsion of about 700 Jews during WWII.

Life / Class system in Poland - does it exist? [90]

Everyone can be, but most of us don't - that's what class is about, isn't it.

I put inverted commas on the "two groups" because these are your groupings not mine.

That's all I have to say, call me nonsensical and a troll all you want, it won't change what either of use believes.

Fortunately sociologists often do.

Go on then, what do you mean? How is it fortunate and whose sociologist?

a teacher, a nurse and a tax collector. The other time was with a vice-minister, a senior lawyer and an eminent doctor. Those two groups would not normally spend time together comfortably.

I don't believe that these "two groups" could not be friends and frequently socialise comfortably.

I think it is just a world view thing Jonni, to be honest.

More nonsense, and trolling too.

I don't think so, so we'll just have to agree to disagree.

That is life,

That is indeed your life and the way you see it, I would say the way most english people see it but don't think we all see it that way.

the intelligentsia are a specific social class, and often look down on others, specifically workers, who in turn sometimes look down on villagers.

Who filled administrative roles? Peasants?

In fairness jonni, You are English (I should stop there but I won't;)
And in England you are brought up seeing the world in a class system manner.
I have argued with some English friends on this matter, because anyone who works in a factory is lower class, in a bank middle class and rich fat cats and politicians upper.

And as these jobs exist in every country, it is easy to suggest such a system or as you have done invented your own (at least you get points for creativity) but snobbery and job description does not mean there is a class system.

I am sure the muck savages are all grieving :)

But like you said there is a rivalry between cities and the sticks but it is not hate, class or serious. Just a bit of banter at the end of the day. It's probably more got to do with people in the cities having left the countryside to live there and what the attitudes that move brought. (and in Ireland the pale but that's a different story)

Even a broken clock is right twice a day :)

Just kidding, I am knackered, gonna hit the hay, good night.

Stork in Poland

The storks, that have been nested on top of people's telephone posts, have grown up so quickly, preparing for their long journey.

It is considered good luck, here in Poland, to have a stork nest on your property, people even buy plastic ones to adorn their houses.

In Ireland, there is an old wives tale, that storks deliver babies by dropping them through the chimney.
Is it the same in Poland?

And I have started smoking again... after three years, the only positive side is I had not had the privilege of seeing the fireflies at night. I know they are only bugs with some kind of phosphorescent on their butts but still, they seem magical to me. And only appear around this time of year.

And I have never seen so many butterflies in my life, as I saw today, there must have been about 50 of the wee fellas. Most were white but others were multicoloured.

And another first, I saw a butterfly with that rainbow, oily, duck neck's thing, that changes colour depending on how the light hits it.

Its 2 slugs making love :D

I think this (click here) is the most sensual non-human cinematography I have ever seen, from the wonderful wildlife documentary Microcosmos.
There is also another one called Makrokosmos - winged migration both French and both extraordinary looks at nature.

So just out of interest are you revealing the nationalities?

They are all Irish :)

Funny how you picked out people that don't look typically Polish

Funny how you thought two were Jewish and one was Polish and now you change your tune AFTER I told you were wrong.
Fancy doing it again?

Congratulations you got 0 out of 3.

No of them look Polish,

Too late, your answer is invalid after me telling you the answer.

We could play again if you like, I will get three more contestants and you can tell me their ethnicity, right?

I could do this all night but it feels like I am just teasing a child.

You don't have to use fancy language to get your point across, but then what other people would think about me???!?? omg! I better use fancy language quick...

I don't think it is fancy, just different.
We do not speak the same, that doesn't make what I say fancy.
For me it is more important to be understood than anything else but I am not that great at even that, that's why I amn't a writer or something.

SeanBM:
What about him?

and Jewish once again, no offense of course he just does

Congratulations you got 0 out of 3.

Really? i have no problem distinguishing a Pole from a non Pole, there is something as looking Polish

there's like 3 or 4 looks to an ethnicity when you see it you know what someone is.

So that's that then.

I think you really don't know what you are talking about, in fact I am sure of it. This should be no problem for you then.

hahahahaa, a half Pole or quarter Pole isn't a Pole, but only half or quarter.

So if a person is half Polish, lives in Poland their whole lives and knows no other culture, they are not Polish?

That is very strange for me.

No comment on where the people are from, no?

so it didn't make any sense what you were trying to say.

I am saying that we are people, with mixed up DNA, that when you talk about ethnicity I think you are talking about something that just doesn't exist in real terms. And when I talk about nationality it is more like culture.

That you can't tell a Pole from a Czech in reality (DNA) but if you speak Polish you would be able to tell the difference in language to Czech (culture).
