SCUD missiles are the technology of yesterday. They are not that devastating! I also wouldn't be for the forcible taking of NK. That just won't happen tho.

Is NK language much different from SK? Do you say 'annyong haseyo?' too? How about kamsamnida?

They are causing problems. If it isn't already abundantly clear, I'm a big fan of Japan and I don't appreciate what NK is threatening.

Sorry, Juche. You are probably a good guy but you come across as righteous. Let us make our own decisions. SK and Japan don't like your heavy-handed and dictatorial stance.

Don't forget, America has a base in Iwakuni (near Hiroshima), Japan and I guess in SK. They will react, mark my words!

True enough, Samo Obrone is not in power. They appeal to the farmers and other agricultural workers. I also agree that capitalist structures represent greed and profit, thus I'm not keen on them.

However, whilst reinforced concrete can of course still be used, it is largely a choice of the past. Have you been to Bytom, Juche? Come to Silesia, there are buildings which you may like and quite a lot of monuments.

Btw, it's not my architecture as I'm not Polish.

Are you saying that the Taliban don't terrorise? I'd argue that holding sb for months under the belief that they are going to be beheaded at any moment is terrorising. Yes, there were political motives behind Afghanistan (appointing a former Unocal consultant, Karzai, to be PM for a start) but it doesn't change the nature of their actions.

I think it's good that soldiers get practice but you have tripped yourself up. Why send soldiers into a 'non-existent' war? For what cause are they fighting? You know, you can defend troops in court in wartime, but sending soldiers to kill for no stated reason is just murder.

What if the US just wanted combat practice too? You can't have double standards.

Everything is relative, Juche. You can't always measure people by your own standards. NK is not the benchmark here. Unruly and crowd often go hand-in-hand. They can't march straight because they are drunk ;) ;)

The architecture is as it is. Funny, I'm not aware of any voice calling for the Party to give this to them.

Still, there is talk of sending more troops to Afghanistan. Currently, 1,600 Polish troops serve there and they want to hike it up to over 2,000. A very small number but I heard that they sent some GROM units. They kick butt.

I think conscription has recently been abolished, Randal. You had to sign up but I think they revised the position in Nov last year. There were instances where you could get out of military service but now the position appears to be clearer.

Installing a shield to snub Russia is not good business really. Obama has the right idea although I'm not sure what dividends it will yield.

Russia's problem is that others like India and China have the know-how advantage and are establishing themselves ever more.

I wonder what Russia's reaction to the Iranian pipeline proposal is. I know Unocal and Chevron/Texaco were peeved at not winning that contract.

Why not moderate socialism then, Sokrates? They are accustomed to communism so why not tone it down a fraction? Look at Hungary, they yearn for the days of communism as many fell by the wayside under capitalism.

Anyway, Patriot missiles is the topic. Poland doesn't need these to be honest. It is equipped enough to deal with modern contingencies.

What nonsense!! Filios is so clearly right here, celinski. Meddling, like the US did in Georgia, will only complicate things. Face it, most of Poland doesn't want this shield. Iran poses no threat, that's all spin and hype.

Putin is a very reasonable man for the most part. One of the best politicians for getting things done. I don't like some of his heavy-handed decisions but, on balance, he is solid.

Precisely Dariusz. I've said this elsewhere that the Japanese like to slurp their noodles. It's actually bad manners not to. We find that rude and intrusive. Very odd given that the Japanese are less intrusive, preferring instead to keep to themselves.

Some are grateful when you open a door, some aren't. The oldies have no appreciation for the most part. There was one today who I had to call sth nasty as not only did she not say thank you, she also grunted at me.

The same happened to my fiancee. We were coming out of a meat shop and this old hag decided to enter before letting us out the narrow automatic doors. It's like you are not there sometimes.

What an assumption, Sokrates. I was zeroing in on the Baltic States and not even addressing the bigger picture. I am well aware of Russia's imperialistic ambitions but you are secong guessing them. Which war would that be, remind me?

As do I. Although I have no personal connection to the Balkan States, I still feel that they have made inroads into alignment with the EU. Particularly in the area of the environment. I wrote a paper on EIA's within the EU, with particular emphasis on the scoping phase. They are happy to have EU status and Russia should keep their hands off.

Ukraine is the political hot potato. Russia cannot relinquish its stronghold over some territories there. Given current ties with Russia, I cannot see the EU taking a firm stance over a rattling of the cage with the Baltic States. I reiterate that the EU is largely toothless and doesn't want to lose business.
