@Ironside, sorry, but I don't know what "disce" means.

doesn't it make you a racist? Misandry one, racist

No, I'm just being realistic. From what I know women who are considered to be a desirable catch in traditional (and usually poorer) countries usually marry local men. Those who go for foreigners are likely to do that to improve their situation. Of course, if Kashub1410 is OK with that then that's his choice (a rather disturbing choice for me personally though).

@Kashub1410, but you wrote yourself that you rode a horse only once and when you were a kid :))

Besides, horse therapy isn't just about horse riding - it's more than that.

Means you don't know me, and all your "prescriptions" are in fact invalid

Then instead of arguing with a random woman on an internet forum :) go to a proper therapist who will get to know you well and will propose to you how to address your problems :)

Because I think that your unresolved issues (probably from childhood) may continue to sabotage your future relationships. So it's in your interest to do something about it, not mine :)

But noone can force you to do anything, of course. It's your choice.

I only gave my 5 cents and it's up to you what you're going to do with it.

They should put horses in front of various institutions and test people who desire to find employment there.

That's a great idea - I'm all for it lol

I come from a family of horse riders.

So?

I only ridden a horse once, it wasn't a challenge at all. As a kid mind you...

You're an adult now though, with adult issues.

@Kashub1410, I doubt that getting yourself a desperate woman from a poor country will automatically solve your problems with women... Your insecurity and other issues may come to the surface sooner or later anyway, imho...

I don't give a flying **** about how other guys behave

But you have no qualms about making sweeping generalisations about women!

So by adding me to their bunch it only infuriates me further.

He didn't "add" you to anyone. He just made a point that men cheat too.

Well guess what, I think both of you also need therapy, guidance and do some repentance. How about that?

Maybe we all do, but we're not the ones coming here complaining about having problems with relationships and the other sex :)) Don't be angry, we're just trying to give you some advice.

Btw, if you aren't mature/ready enough yet to address your issues by going to a proper therapy then maybe try this:

promises.com/addiction-blog/lessons-equine-therapy/

"Horses have a unique ability to sense emotions and react accordingly. If your are angry or aggressive, the horse may become obstinate. If you are anxious, the horse may get skittish. But when approached by someone who is open and calm, the horse is more likely to respond in kind. Witnessing the horse's response promotes self-awareness and can help people see themselves in a more realistic way."

Maybe this would calm you down a bit (because to me it looks like you're getting angry too easily).

Btw, do you have a pet at home?

Do not expect understanding, pity or compassion from a women.

I think you could use a therapy, Grunni... I'm guessing that your issues with women may have something to do with your mother (and maybe also your sister).

History / Enemies, Strangers, Friends. Poles and Germans. [82]

As to whether or not Germany is or was a "Christian" society has long been a subject of serious debate

I meant that "formally" Germany was a Christian society. As in - consisting of people identifying themselves as Christians and being raised in Christian faith (just like majority of Poles today identify themselves as Catholics and were raised in Catholic faith). Whether they behaved like Christians should - that's a completely different matter. And that's what I'm talking about - the fact that you're Christian (as in - you identify yourself as Christian and you were raised in Christian faith) doesn't automatically mean that you'll behave in a way a Christian should behave or that you're going to be a moral person.

what makes you think you can judge what is Christian behaviour and what is not?

Because I'm still a Christian, I was raised in Catholic faith, practiced it for majority of my life and I'm not a moron?

, I just don't understand your point

I already wrote what my point is. Being non-baptised/non-Catholic doesn't automatically make anyone immoral and being baptised/Catholic doesn't make anyone automatically moral.

What's next? Soviets were a brotherly nation?

Did you hit your head or something?

Poland tragedies are mainly based on Germans not being very Christian!

You mean - not acting very Christian - yes. But there's been, there is and there will be plenty of Christians not acting very Christian. And are plenty of non-Christians who are acting "Christian". Do you understand what I mean?

@Kashub1410, as I wrote already - being baptised (or religious) doesn't automatically mean or guarantee being moral and democratic.

look at Russia as prime example

Look at Nazi Germany as a prime example of what I wrote above:

@Kashub1410, so... only Poles need to be baptised in order to be moral and have a democracy...? The rest of humanity is capable of being moral and having democracy without being baptised? :D

toomuch

@Kashub1410, not being baptised doesn't make anyone automatically "immoral" :))) And vice versa - there are plenty enough of baptised people out there who are immoral, morally corrupted (including our government).

Btw, so in your world Israel can't have democracy then? (I imagine there aren't that many baptised people there) ;D

So it is only natural that Poland becomes more authoritarian with increased contact with the west

And because of being run by an ultra-Catholic party - yes, that makes perfect sense, Grunni... ;D

Now, please, explain it to me - how is it possible
that the West isn't authoritarian, but somehow it makes Poland authoritarian? :D

Argument for a Democracy is valid in my opinion when most of society compromises of baptised citizens

;D

What does it matter?

"What does it matter"? I'd say that in a democracy it does matter what people think and want, don't you think? o_O

The thing is such moods can flip out of the blue in an instant to the opposite.

Which "moods can flip out of the blue in an instant to the opposite"? About the membership in the EU? lol What are you talking about?

By the way guys, very complex issues without a good solution or a good answer you treat like an easy black and white quiz problem.

What on Earth are you talking about?

Genealogy / Assistance with Locating a Town in Galicia [2]

There's a place and a lake called "Przełęg", but it's at the other end of Poland:

pl.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prze%C5%82%C4%99g_(wojew%C3%B3dztwo_zachodniopomorskie)

There's also a village called "Przełęk", but, even though it's much closer to historical Galicia than Przełęg, it doesn't seem to be within historical borders of Galicia, so I'm not sure...:

pl.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prze%C5%82%C4%99k_(wojew%C3%B3dztwo_opolskie)

There's another Przełęk, but in another part of Poland:

rather than membership question.

But GefreiterKania gave the percentage for how many Poles support the membership of Poland in the EU, so your response was misleading.

It was a survey with different wording that was talked about on wpolityce/wpolsce, telewzja republika etc.

Do you have a link to that poll results?

the actions of the EU

According to that CBOS poll (CBOS is an official polling institution in Poland, btw) 63% of people in Poland think that Poland should withdraw some changes in Polish judiciary in order to unblock money from the EU fund. What that other poll had to say about it (if anything)?

It was 85% in May 2023 according to CBOS poll:

Law / Can a tenant change locks to house without giving access to the landlord [37]

It's mentioned above.

What and where?

Poland had such a good system of spóldzienie mieszkaniowe too. Although a few certainly do build new blocks

This system still exists (my block of flats belongs to spółdzielnia), but flats built by them are a small percentage of the market. And I'm not sure what block of flats being "cooperatively managed" would change exactly...

however the public sector and cooperatives are big there, no need for private 'investors'.

So what are the stats? How many flats and houses are rented to people by "the public sector and cooperatives" and how many by private landlords or investors?

This is the key. Why private eating?

Why not? Whom do you propose to rent from? From the state?

Of private landlords?

I'm guessing that yes... Who else? The state? Aliens?

Landlordism isn't the same as renting, did you think it was?

Yes, jon357, I did. Sorry, but I have no idea what you're talking about right now... Maybe it's because I'm not a native speaker of English - so, please, do explain what is it that you mean exactly...

Renting or landlordism?

What's the difference? The person you rent the flat from is called a "landlord", yes?

Btw, Polish 86.8% (2021) of ownership is very high. It gives Poland the 6th place in the EU:

ec.europa.eu/eurostat/cache/digpub/housing/bloc-1a.html

In Germany over 50 % of the population are tenants, in Austria 46 % and in Denmark 41 %.

In Switzerland 57.8% of people are tenants.

So, in case of those countries you can say that "landlordism is a significant part of the country's housing sector". In case of Poland - not really, especially if you compare it to the rest of the EU.

A flat in a block, why?

In order to... live there...? You think that flats for free fall from the sky in Poland...? lol
Paulina

Law / Can a tenant change locks to house without giving access to the landlord [37]

I guess it is, if 16% are renting from private landlords. 5% might be acceptable.

Why 5%?
You know, eliminating renting is simply not realistic. People move around these days, they have to be able to move where the jobs are or wherever they want to go, students have to be able to rent a place if they're studying in another city and not everyone can afford to buy a flat even once they decide to settle for good in some place.

however in the long term it would be better for society if inherited flats were sold.

Why? Flats and houses often pass from generation to generation in Poland - thanks to this people have a place to live without having to take credit to buy a flat. How people having a place to live is "bad" for the society?

@jon357, I can understand some reasonable regulations, I suppose, I don't know, I'm not an expert on this, but Korvinus wrote that he wants to "abolish" it altogether and he didn't write how he imagines it happening in practical terms :)

when landlordism is a significant part of any country's housing sector

Well, I guess that's not the case in Poland since 84% of people in Poland live in flats and houses owned by them and only 16% rent...
Paulina

@Korvinus, sorry, but how do you "abolish landlors" in a democratic, capitalist country? ;D Are you a communist? lol

Would you also like to "abolish" car rentals? ;D

Most often they are paid for owning something that they didn't even buy, their ancestor bought it

So you'd like to abolish inheritance too? ;D

Or rich/business people in general? ;D

Once you buy something you can usually do more or less what you want with it - it's called private property. And a flat or a house is a commodity, just like anything else. You can buy it, sell it, use it or rent it to someone else, even if you didn't build it yourself. The fact that you didn't make a car, doesn't mean that you can't rent it to someone else for money lol 🤦

As in, they are paid money, because they already have money.

Nonsense. My parents inherited my city grandmother's flat after her death and we moved there and so my parents rented our old one-room flat to two students. At some point when my brother got old enough to move out, he went to live in our old flat. So, in the meantime, before my brother moved out, we were getting some extra money from renting, which was a good thing, because we weren't rich. Flats and houses in Poland usually stay in the family - they get inherited sooner or later.

Abolish landlords.

Would you like to abolish family too? lol
