Love / How do Polish boys feel about foreign girls? [163]

One day maybe I'll find slim and graceful English girl and then I'll post a rectification.

Correction, there are plenty of slim pretty English girls, they are just out of your league, we have natural selection process, any chump lugging a rucksack on their back is ruled out as being a bit of a loser in a low job with no prospects.

I suppose if you need the cash to live comfortably then its a different story.

Its not even about being comfortable - its about surving...you've got a little un..you know how expensive it is - add the baby costs on top of every day living (bills) and take away a salary? The figures dont add up do they?

In most cases they want to anyway at least for the first few years.

Most dont have the luxury - first 12 months if they're lucky, but flexible working hours offer part time working for mothers (in the UK), so its kind of the best of both worlds..most people I know use the grand parents for the days that they are working so its not like the child is being "palmed" off on to strangers..besides, its hardly worth going back part-time if you have to pay child minders costs.

What day are you talking about Bex? Both of my Grandma's worked, their mothers worked? I'd love to know what fluffy planet you live on, where all women stayed at home and baked and sewed all day and had warming slippers waiting for their man to come home with the smell of freshly baked bread wafting in the air!

Harsh reality Bex, most women have always worked, Its just now, women are competing for the same jobs as men (high profile jobs)...and its not about feminism its about education and progression - as for rights, do you think its wrong for women to get paid maternaty leave? Do you think its wrong that women have the right to go back to work part time if they chose after having children? You see Bex, non of this would have happened had women not campaigned for their rights...

Now you go back to watching whatever 1950s cr*p you enjoy "how life used to be" IN THE MOVIES!

This is not a bashing by the way, its a reality check for you - people can no longer afford to even pay the bills in the UK if they have a family and a single income - its not about consumerism - its about survival.

We use meters in Athletics..thats all that counts (I did actually realise after my statement, but I was thinking of the only sport that counts!)

It's much closer than London is and I can fly to London from the NE of Scotland within an hour.

I know Sheep, but my point was we are not that close, or close enough for us to sound alike.

to make things even funnier she openly admits that most of English men are hopeless

Then she's pretty stupid, because most English men are very capable...

Celtic girls are of my taste. They have more grace and they're less likely to grow fat in their 30's

Yes, those Celtic princesses in Glasgow, they radiate charm and grace on a Saturday night whilst wearing clothes 2 times too small ;0) and thats in their 20s, at least we have the good grace to wait another 10 years!

Sweetie, I'm trying to understand your pain, your brother pulled an hot English girl and you have only had knockbacks..my advice is to give up....go back to what you know..

Im not surprised you live near the buggers.

Im in Manchester which is no where near Scotland - have you forgotten already what England looks like?

You obviously know nothing about golf then.

I said SPORT, also I do play the odd round, Ive got a good course across the road from me.

The first sign of madness!

Leave him alone, he's being neutral :P

Just a neutral observer.

Are you aware of what neutral means? Maybe you should brush up on your English skills.

i usually have problems with Scottish call centres,

o2 have a call centre there, I have no problems whatsoever.

I guess this is a positive in that Brits would be more naturally tolerant of foreigners speaking in different accents when having their own countryman doing likewise.

Not really, its a completely different thing, I only like a very small number of foreign accents, the rest irritate me, they seem to speak too loud or sound harsh, yet I love most most British accents, I've even over the years grown to love the Welsh accent.

Furthermore Britain has to be one of a very few countries if not the only one, in which you can have a competent none English speaker, speak the language better than some of the locals.

Who the hell were you mixing with when you lived here - I am assuming you lived here, because you seem to think you know so much? I know of no English person who has a level of English below that of some foreigner, but I have heard a few "British" born foreigners who have a level of English that would make a 5 year old English child look articulate! - Please look at our education system and where we were in the tables 10 years ago and look how much we have fallen in past years, due to the influx to my Island! Also if foreigners are so bloody smart, why do we have to produce a leaflet in every language on this planet?

Dont think it limited Nigel Kennedy! (as fake as his Mockney accent is) As for inferiority complex, there are plenty of brash rough speaking sucessful people in this country, thats what makes it so great...You sound like a judgemental little pr*ck.

You might not actually know this but very few Brits actually know how to speak their own language

Really, Im quite fluent in English, having spoken it all my life, I was taught to anunciate and to speak clearly as are many other English people, if foreigners cant understand local accents, its their problem not mine.

Do we use yards any more? no not really.

We dont use them at all, not in shops, not in sport, no where..havent for a long time.

Weight - Kilos or Stone and pounds. Its all quite confusing for foreigners really.

It is, but at least we have the advantage of knowing all three ;0)

more logical and easier to use in every way; however, it's this identity thing again.

I find both easy...my mum still uses lbs and oz when baking, I do the same simply because its what I know, but I know my weight in kilos and stones and lbs and I know my height in cm and ft & inches

but at least the coins and notes are identifiably British.

Hopefully that wont change any time soon - we opted out for a reason and I dont see us opting in any time soon.

I miss going to other countries and using coins and notes that are different to the ones I use at home; it's part of the fun of being 'abroad'. It's a reason why I like going to Poland:

I tend to stay away from the Euro zone as a rule. But it does have its advantages, you can take all that loose change you had from your last hols and spend it next time, regardless of where you go in the Euro zone...

Language / IS "MURZYN" word RACIST? [686]

I have been called a 'brit', 'a tan', a 'limey', a 'pom', 'island affe', 'rosbif' and 'f*cking English bastard' before now.

Who cares? People do actually use "Brit" as if they are offending these days...Personally I prefer to be called English ;0)

Language / IS "MURZYN" word RACIST? [686]

I'd say. Look at some of the TV programmes which were made in UK, especially in late 1970's, which cannot be shown now.

Sorry to point out but Rising Damp is still shown and Bless this House and Rising Damp were more to show the ignorance of racism - both black character in the program were middle class and educated...So I'd say view these programmes a little bit closer before making comments.

Should the Spanish take the word "negro" out of their colour scheme?

UK, Ireland / Warning to British people visiting Poland!! Don't get drunk and smash the place up! [447]

when in France or Germany or Spain instead of "how you feel" you will get voule le vous de tuch or pargue bon paa or ws ducht wor walt or skad jestes not fcuking englese

Was in Spain the other week, they speak English to the English all the time sweetie :D Also been in Czech Rep many times, they are happy to speak English with us too...in fact, everywhere I have been (even though I make the effort) they always speak English..So TIT, stop being lying tit.

Whats is beautiful about it?

If you dont understand what Sheep is saying, you will never know...manners maketh a man

Someone might look great and be accomplished but if they are boorish and ill-mannered they will not win friends and influence people. Only the super-talented and very rich can get away with it. The ordinary person is more likely to be acceptable if they have an agreeable disposition and pleasant manners.

I am assuming you are not super rich? :D

I have no idea how the Spanish put up with them...Poor Spaniards :0(

Work / An Australian girl living in Poland: Residence permit, please help! [44]

Sorry for the negative post but here goes:

Why do foreigners feel that its okay for them to break the law in Europe when its so difficult for us to go to Aus? You have stated several times that you have broken the rules..so why continue? Or do you feel that its okay to be illegal in a country?

If you're thinking about coming to the UK, you will have to prove you have sufficient funds to be allowed entry..border controlls are tighter than a ducks ar*e and if you dont have a work visa and they think that you are going to work in the 3 months you intend to stay, then you have no chance of entry.

As for not thinking that you've not broken the 90 day thing (you seem a little confused abou this!), you have...You have to be out of the zone for 90 for the next 90 days to start again...being in the Ukraine for a couple of weeks doesnt really count.

By the way you can face a fine as well as a ban/deportation.

He compared them to D4, yet another thing you probably know nothing of.

Evidently you think Im a bit thick! degrade, disrupt, deny, destroy?????

Unless he is an aboriginal Australian.

I am in no way saying what we did was right, absolutely not, same as sending English kids there to be abused by priests...

And just out of curiosity are the prisoners sent there also meant to thank you?

It wasnt all ex cons Sean, that was a very small percentage...

Oh Shelly :) I will always remember your cold venomous nonwlecome when I first joined here, seems like only yesterday :)

Well, seems like you still havent learnt how to spell such a simple name or are you such a rude person? He slagged of Polish women, bunched them all together, which is unfair..most men that do this because they have been burnt! Why should I welcome him warmly if he starts his first post in such a negative way...Im happy to give some nice advice for those that are genuine...read some of my posts..

History / remember, forget, forgive, blame ... Holocaust Memorial Day in Poland [229]

Well, we should say thanks, our bobsleigh team use them to practice (you couldnt make it up if you tried!) also one guy has turned another tunnel into a fish farm...so they've been useful :D

Look, I find this thread pretty harsh and I dont think anyone in their right mind blames your average German for the mass murder of millions of people...I also think its about time, we all moved on..Terrible things happened on all sides...After a lively debate on here a couple of years ago, I took time to read about Dresden and it made me cry...I think people seem to forget that innocent Germans died in WWII too.

Thank you British Colonists!

You're living in Aus, had it not been for Colonialism, you'd not be enjoying the country it is today! Look at the phone book dipstick and you might find that a large proportion of the names are English...

As for Greedy Polish women...Me thinks you got stung somewhere along the line..quite a bitter post...

As to "traditional" Irish and Scottish women, I have no bloody idea what you are talking about, they are independent women and not exactly what I'd call "traditional" in any way shape or form...This isnt a slight on them, far from it.

To a degree, you're damn right. However, it's a mindset that creates a lot of jobs, wealth etc. The nice things about downturns is that you realize the things you thought you needed you really didn't.

But when things get better you start to enjoy the good times again, its human nature and its always been this way (we can all tighten our belts when we need to -doesnt mean we enjoy it though!)...Whats wrong with wanting nice things??? As long as you keep family first and dont lose sight of what is important, then there is nothing wrong with it...I work has so I deserve my treats!

Look at a map of Europe Shelley,

I know exactly how it looks, but if you what you say is true, how come they had the time to build many observation towers and extensive underground tunnels on Jersey?

Start to accept the reality Torqi, it was a European project!
Without your peoples enthusiastic help it wouldn't had been possible!!!

This is true to a certain extent, but it also has to be said that most of mainland Europe was occupied by Germany so in most if not all cases, the authorities didnt have much of a choice with regards to the deportation of Jews. I will say in defence of your avergage German, that a lot of Germans saved the lives of a lot Jewish people.

You also say speaking Polish is not much advantage but in the same breath jobs are hard to come by if you don't. Well that's one fairly major advantage don't'cha think? ;)

If you read it again sweetie, you will realise he meant being a native English speaker isnt really an advantage as most Poles speak good English.

The fact is that Poland's economy is the best performing in Europe at the moment and UK/Ireland among worst.

Yet the flow of people from Eastern europe hasnt really stopped, if it was so bad here (UK) and so good there (Poland), dont you think they'd be staying at home in Poland? The reality of it is, the job market in Poland isnt brilliant and if everyone went back home, there would be major problems.

Not really. It makes perfect sense on many levels.

I was being a little bit sarky ;0)

won't say more lest someone takes offence. ;)

It makes sense on all levels, Im sure there are a few that are facinated by foreign men..but on the whole I think English women are quite happy with their English men...They're quite a good catch on the whole when you look at what the rest of europe has to offer.

Oh yeah, then when she starts acting like a spoit biatch, you only have yourself to blame :D

Mind you I don't see a whole bunch of English girls marrying Polish guys and moving to Poland

I dont see a whole bunch of English girls even dating Polish guys, pickings are pretty slim from I can glean, the decent ones are married and the single ones, well, they're single because they mingers or losers...(maybe the odd exception)...also maybe English women prefer English guys..strange that isnt it?

Life / Fat People in Poland? [161]

Ive seen plenty of overweight German tourists in thier speedos,

Oh fond memories - walked on to a nudest beach (only went for a cheeky look) on an island off Dubrovnik - full of Jerries, fat as ya like and old (just to add insult to injury) some sporting speedos, most were not :(

As for fat Poles Ive seen a few in the UK, mainly men, the odd female, but they have a long time to go before they catch up with the Brits, but Im sure the more take-aways and convenience foods come their way the fatter they will become..high fat high sugar and larger portions because people are too stupid to understand that this kind of junk doesnt actually hit the mark! People have to remember Americans and Brits were not always fat! (we dont have horrid teeth either, this is just a myth!)

Why can't she rent out her apartment in Warsaw?

Maybe because she doesnt own it? She wants the security of having somewhere to go back to if it doesnt work out? Doesnt want to move all of her stuff out her rented apartment? As she will may need to move back there...She is giving up a lot to move too..this the side people dont think about, she has a life and is gambling her life and her stability..
