The strategy (in retrospect) was brilliant. By making sure the parties were generally aligned those who disliked PiS but also were wary of PO could vote for 3D or L, voting against PiS (which has made more enemies than friends over the last few years) without actually voting for PO (which aslo has its faults).

No. This isn't russia. Once PiS fails the vote of confidence (95% chance.... conservatively speaking) they're out and the Sejm will propose a new person to form a government.

Yes it is. Trying to pretend there aren't serious problems with migration in Europe is also childish.


But you have to do that to have any kind of reasonable policy! And the more people you let in the less you can treat them as individuals and the more you have to treat them collectively (which is why tracking data about the educational, economic and crime outcomes is crucial).

The thing about monty is that it doesn't take much engagement to show he's full of it... trying to shut him down makes it look like he might be onto something..... believe me I dislike monty's and novi's contributions here more than you do because they make it harder to discuss serious issues in a serious manner.....

I think there are large, systemic patterns of dysfunction in current European migration policy and no one looking at the numbers can defend the policies.... they just shrug and say irrelevant things or ignore you and then monty and novi chime in with juvenile nonsense and set things back....

Just to be clear, the video says that after the building (where people continue to live) was declared unfit for human habitation a few families were moved out... and the russia invaded Crimea and the money dried up so people are left there....

Is that supposed dto be an argument? Of course no population is made up mostly of violent criminals, but the point remains (unaddressed and ignored by the left in general) that populations do differ, markedly, in the size of the violent criminal minority.

The more migration allowed the less you can afford to view each migrant individually and the more you have to treat them collectively by country/region. Why isn't Ireland doing that? NAfricans are wildly overrepresented in crime everywhere they settle in Europe.... why ignore that and keep letting them in?


He's reporting official numbers from the Danish government in a very plain way. Remember also, Palestinians have worn out their welcome very quickly in other Arab countries as well.... maybe there's a reason for that.

In in October you had two life sentences for murders of Irish citizens by an and Iraqi and a Slovak

And earlier this year a life sentence for murder given to a Romanian for a beheading ....

That's all without doing any heavy research....

Either Ireland has a problem with crime committed by migrants or Ireland turns normal people into criminals....

It may not be the worst problem in Ireland but it's a problem and pretending it isn't won't solve anything....

Maybe they're right because everywhere that's reporting is reporting it was an Algerian now and things have turned violent in the middle of Dublin. I do not support that kind of random violence but the longer European dysfunctional and wrong-headed migration policies go on... the worse the backlash will be.

In terms of Sub-Saharan Africa it's not the poorest, most chaotic countries fueling the flow but the relatively more stable as living standards aren't rising fast enough for an impatient population...

Population growth is all the more reason to keep it in check. Research back in the 1990s showed that out migration increased local population growth because if people can't easily leave they're more likely to have fewer children (this was in Utne Reader IIRC).

People respond to incentives, make coming to Europe illegally more painful and the flow will decrease. Right now there are only positive incentives...

Some concrete steps (which require overhauling asylum laws which won't happen for lots of incredibly stupid reasons).

Stop accepting asylum applications from about 90 % of the countries in the world.

Stop accepting asylum applications from anyone arriving in the country illegally.

Instead, they are held in captivity until they can be returned to their country of origin.

It would be a short term strain (like building big prisons in El Slavador) with longer term benefits both for the west and for the countries of origin who now simply dump their problem citizens on other countries to feed....

I think in-vitro should be legal but.....given that a non-negligible part of the population has ethical problems with in-vitro I'm not totally on board with making them fund it through their taxes. Being a parent is a negative right not an affirmative right.
