News / New European Council's report: "Poland oasis of racism, xenophobia and homophobia" ... [343]

Polish American Congress (an umbrella organisation of Polish Americans, and Polish American groups)

It just so happens that the Polish-American Congress is more or less affiliated to PiS, so this is nothing more than PiS directing their American branch to vote against the candidate that will stand up to them.

18% voted for them, and most people in Poland aren't 'bog, honor, ojczyzna' clowns and never have been.

Indeed. Adrian seems to mistake American style politics where normally close to 50% is required to win elections with the Polish system that resulted in nearly 20% of votes being disqualified and the Party winning a majority with not even close to 40% of the total vote.

Maybe you should think about hiding the factual and intellectual failures in the last 75% of your posts?

He did. He started quoting that idiot priest from Wrocław who was told quite publicly to shut the hell up or else.

Pro-ONR, pro-Russia... everything that Poland isn't, really ;)

Fr. Miedlak

Why are you quoting someone who is in such deep trouble with the Church that he's received a public warning to shut his mouth or else?

He's certainly not representative of the RCC in the slightest. He's very much on the fringe of the RCC, and many of his colleagues in Wrocław hate his guts for the damage that he did to them.

As for the numbers of Catholics, those of us living in Poland know the reality - that a lot of it is merely based on peer pressure, for instance, the young couple that go to Church simply to keep Babcia quiet even though they do nothing else. Nothing different to how Spain and Ireland were in the 1970's.

The conservative traditions and customs stay with people that they were raised with, even if they've stopped going to church - that's what matters.

Not really. The Church has always been considerably behind people's attitudes - for instance, young Poles in the early 1980's loved JPII, but they almost completely ignored his teachings on sexual morality.

Except in many cases, NGO's are much more effective. The reality is that this NGO simply wasn't close to PiS, so they got their funding cut so that Rydzyk could have extra cash.

We know how it works in the PiSlamic State.

and the support for PiS is not 33 per cent but still 37 per cent and I guess it will grow until the next elections

Poor show, gumishu.

ewybory.eu/sondaze

Clearly shows that PiS are actually on an average of 32% in May, while PO/Nowoczesna are ahead. PiS haven't had anything like 37% in a while, and most polls over the last few months have had them between 30-33%.

It's pretty obvious that any joint electoral list of PO/Nowoczesna/PSL/SLD at the minute is going to defeat PiS heavily. The core 30% of PiS voters are still there, but the centrist voters have left them.

- all here about it. Probably they weren't allied to PiS, so they got the money cut.

History / Current Polish-Russian relations.. What do the Poles think? [60]

Maybe Poland then should follow their suit and rise in defense of the oppressed Polish minority in Lithuania?

Sure, if Poland wants to be invaded by NATO and risk having Russia take over parts of Poland during the chaos of such an intervention.

The Polish minority isn't repressed anyway, and most young Poles aren't infected with the idiotic nationalism of the elders.

Kaczmarczyk said glass ceilings are only in imagination of women - this not equals to wage discrimination is a myth

Which is about as highly offensive as it comes.

He should be ashamed of himself, but given that PiS believe that cutting funding for centres that deal with victims of domestic violence is a correct thing to do, I doubt he has a single bit of shame in his body.

Russia didnt start civil war in Ukraine-you lie

Ah, Gregy's true colours reveal himself to be a Russian sympathiser. Funny how many of these self-proclaimed "patriots" actually long for the embrace of Mother Russia again.

protecting russian people and historical right to Crimea.and crimean people selfdetermination

Strange, I don't remember you supporting the right of the Germans in Poland to self determination.

Russia actions are fully justified and even more-they were quite moderate

Yep, that's you definitely outed as yet another pro-Russian troll. How much is the Kremlin paying you?

History / Current Polish-Russian relations.. What do the Poles think? [60]

The reason why Russia does that is because any country with a border dispute is ineligible for NATO membership

Surely that's not true? Croatia and Slovenia had a border dispute for years (from what I remember, there's an ex-Yugoslavian army base under Slovenian control despite being located in Croatia), Croatia and Montenegro have a dispute over Prevlaka, Spain and the UK have a dispute over Gibraltar, etc etc...

Putin would be wonderful human if he work on destroying Russia

From the eyes of the ordinary Pole, exactly.

A Russia that walks freely into countries and takes bits that it wants is not the kind of neighbour you want to have. Mind you, as is usual for your ilk, you'd be first in line to work for Putin.

for what sake?

Adrian has previously admitted that his family was closely linked with the Communists, so it's understandable that he would like a return to those days as they were - in his words - "upper middle class" in the PRL.

Makes perfect sense that he would see Russia as being a benefactor as opposed to a thief.

lol..guy doesn't pay for his 6 or 7 kids.

I really love how you post complete lies on here as facts. Must be something to do with the fact that you haven't been in Poland for years.

It's well known that he had problems paying it when he was unemployed, and that he's currently paying it all back plus what he currently owes. No issue there, and he was honest enough to admit that he had hard times.

Makes a huge difference to the typical PiS supporter, who would prefer women to be beaten up in their home regularly so that they don't even think about leaving.

Apparently when that cat Duda promised to be President for all Poles, he meant only the ones PIS see as first class Poles, i.e. males.

Males, and only ones that support PiS blindly. Reminds one of the PZPR, where very few women were in top positions despite all the propaganda to the contrary.

what do you mean by equality - there is equality - you want some privildges for women I think - privilidges is not equality

There isn't equality. It's well known that women suffer appalling discrimination in Poland in the workplace, and I've seen it happen on numerous occasions professionally and personally.

I remember one Polish guy had broken down in his car at the Croatian border, and he approached us for help. He asked me for help, my wife spoke back to him (he had a strong accent and my Polish was weak at the time), and he pointed at me and said "No, I want to speak to the driver". My wife spoke back to him again (she was driving...) and he insisted that only I could help him. It was absolutely ridiculous - and he received no help at all for his attitude.

(if he had half a brain, he'd realise that there's a good chance that the female is more knowledgable than the male when it comes tothese things).

you can't require women and men to take a leave equally

Why? Other countries have such a system and it works remarkably well. Sweden is the example I'm familiar with - they have zero problems with parental leave causing problems for employees because it's seen as normal for parents to be gone from the workplace at some point. The only people claiming that it doesn't work are the ones that support inequality.

PiS is subsidising families right now as we speak

Actually, many people have pointed out that the 500+ programme is doing more harm than good, as it's encouraging women to stay at home rather than stay in the labour market. Later on, when their kids are grown and they need money, they're going to find nothing because no employer will touch them.

and I don't like the idea of the state being involved with promotions among stuff in private companies - you cannot force love or respect

The state is already heavily involved through PIP. Requiring transparent recruitment/promotion processes is no different to many other labour laws that must be complied with. I got nearly 3 months salary recently because of one such control revealing serious issues with a former employer's paperwork.

If PiS really don't know how to encourage equality in the workplace, then it shows how poor they are.

The answer is pretty simple : subsidise kindergartens/schools in the workplace, require men and women to take parental leave equally or lose it, require transparent recruitment/promotion policies in any company over 50 employees, etc etc.

But PiS fundamentally believe that women shouldn't be working, so for them, it's a non-issue.

No, it was cut because PiS openly believe that women should be kept in the kitchen, preferably on a chain.

Didn't you hear the highly amusing speech in which PiS openly declared that there is no such thing as a glass ceiling for women? :D Of course not, of course not. Try getting umowa o pracę as a young female in a Polish company.

News / New European Council's report: "Poland oasis of racism, xenophobia and homophobia" ... [343]

For your information: law is not to suppress individuals but to free them from any oppression unless they do not work against the law which is by definition established by the people and for their convenience.

Except in this case, the law that was established by the people is being repeatedly and openly broken by the Party.
