Food / Russia vs Poland Vodka war [76]

Why have a vodka war when you can have mutual appreciation sessions? :)

Life / Languages understandable by Poles? [38]

Very true, NMP. Poles sometimes find it hard to break from their own language, like the Borg breaking from the collective.

The Czechs understand Polish better than the other way around. Sometimes you only think you understand. Baltic languages definitely not.

Life / 3 reasons why you hate Poland. [1049]

As everyone says, hate is too strong a word.

1) Passing the buck

2) Taking the service out of customer service

3) Defiance

Life / 3 reasons why you hate Poland. [1049]

From WWII. I can remember many Germans apologising profusely at a party for WWII as the issue came up (was there a Pole present? ;) ;))

Frd, you hit the nail on the head. Too many people squashed into a small space and a lack of forethought regarding parking places. Look at the new places around town, they all have places where you can park.

The point is that you shouldn't block others and also obscure the vision line of a driver. To me, you are art and part (aiding and abetting) of any accident.

Pete, my wife has so many stories for you. They come into her travel office and lay it on thick. They kind of imply that they should get 7-star treatment. I kid you not, there are so many peasants who are wannabe nobility. It makes me laugh! To me, they are just stinky trash that have nothing constructive to offer. I'll be damned if I call them Pan or Pani. Respect is earned!

They still have the 'state will bail me out' attitude here. Like they are on permanent support and have come to expect it. You imposed the communistic approach on me, Westerner, you did. LOL.

Also, to somehow expect 5-star treatment through simply having to pay for sth, LOL.

I wasn't joking, Pete, this is where Americans will always be streets ahead. No aimless walking around the streets doing nothing.

Rude? My wife and I had a small argument about parking. I said that they should have a restriction in places due to obstruction of vision. She didn't want to know. Now sb is blocking her path to the alley where she needs to drive up to park. Now she wants to know, LOL ;) Many Poles are SOOOOO self-centred but such is the nature of people generally.

SO many ignorant and lazy peasants on the go. These people don't work, they just walk around and complain to any naive fool that will listen. Poland will NEVER be Germany, they are industrious and productive people. Germany moved on very quickly as they knew it was an Austrian that caused their problems. Not peasants who, when given a cause to complain, use it for the next 7 decades.

History / The Two Saddest Nations on Earth... Poles and Jews [243]

Well said! Unfortunately, there are many yarn spinners who feel the need to do just that. It's just a shame that damage limitation wasn't emphasised back then. We seem to recklessly abandon the notion that a life is important when it comes to genocide. I can only conclude that the globalists feel it to be more important to take life than to keep it.

Aha, now it is only good and not brilliant? ;) ;) That's what I was getting at. The reality is that your average Pole could easily say the same and not be paid for it.

You are joking, right? The man never stopped making statements like that, M-G. He lives in the past and was forever harping on about the events of the Holocaust.

What's so brilliant about it, M-G? He has a Jewish wife, thus Jewish leanings. Any other Pole could have said the same. The Holocaust has produced eternal mourning so I can see where the sad part comes in. So, how to make more people happy?

History / Ghetto Uprising better known than Warsaw Uprising? [111]

Well, I would certainly back that, Torq. I may not always agree with what he says but I defend his right to say it (Voltaire). I like his insightfulness and he doesn't take the bait from lurers.

The same goes for Borrka. The problem is their lack of frequency here.

History / Ghetto Uprising better known than Warsaw Uprising? [111]

Well, if you put it that way then I am all for modern sources. I'm really impressed with how Poland has interpreted freedoms after communism. Classic evidence that it was just chained by that oppressive regime and can now silence any commies within its own ranks.

I'd happily try and help with any translation :)

History / Ghetto Uprising better known than Warsaw Uprising? [111]

I have images of people going round with clipboards and ticking off the dead bodies ;) ;) So many different accounts I've read. This is where it gets disgusting for me. People play with numbers yet don't come near to feeling the scale/magnitude of loss and fear.

Precisely, Torqy, he didn't live in those times and is unaware of the attendant realities.

History / The Two Saddest Nations on Earth... Poles and Jews [243]

The truth is that it is hard to know who really pulls the strings. Those that operate behind the scenes are hard to trace in the so-called shadow government.

Anyway, Sire will be having a fit by now. Why not more exchange programs? Jewish schoolkids come here so why not send some Polish groups out there and see how they operate? I don't see Poles and Jews as being wholly incompatible at all.

History / The Two Saddest Nations on Earth... Poles and Jews [243]

Yeah, there is growing discontent amongst Jews that live outwith Israel. Poland might have had a similar problem if Stalin had gotten his way. Many Poles might have been swept off to the far-flung corners of the USSR. Interesting point!

Given the fluctuating status of Poland during WWI, what would Poles have done regarding their homeland?

Philadelphia seems to produce people who challenge Jewish wisdom on certain issues. I gather that Norman Finkelstein got a standing ovation and warm welcome when there. I saw most of his speech on Youtube. I like that man, he knows what he is about.

Oh, Douglas Feith has been reported to have been in a couple of scandals, M-G, though I can't vouch for their verifiable truth.

Anyway, Sire doesn't want the thread going in this direction. What he might like to hear is that many Poles come back satisfied from Israel. To me, Poles and Jews have many similarities, esp the older ones. They are both stingier than the Scots for starters ;) ;)

Well, M-G, good to see that I didn't find my way onto your list of anti-Semites. Some make the mistake of putting me in that category but I really don't know enough to be that way. I dislike rampant Zionists but I dislike most rampant types :)
