you are trying to make something that is pretty straightforward into something more complex than it is.

Or are you trying to make something more simple that is pretty tortuous and complex? Both fair questions/thoughts.

Area A is not ran like Area B, which aren't ran like Area C. Why?

Yes, if, indeed, there ever was such a thing called the Sovereign State of Palestine, then it's more simple. If all 2 million non-Jewish citizens living in Israel were denied opportunities and services, yes, more simple. But...that's not how it is, so it ain't so simple.

@Novichok

Novi, sometimes, maybe even most of the time, I think you spend too much time in the instinctual animal kingdom.🙂

Genocide, colonists, apartheid. Nothing more than partisan ideological claptrap that only perpetuates more discord and chasms. You don't offer roads to a solution, only an ideological battlefield. Who will win this battle: Marx or Herzl?

Who decides if a reason is legitimate?

It's less about who decides, as it is about whether its good or not? You'll say who decides what is good; that is question, ergo it's a matter of competing moral codes.

cursory glance at the West Bank illustrates this perfectly

Herein lies a problem. The West Bank and indeed all of israeli/Palestinian milieu is so complex that a cursory view will not merely mislead but misrepresent. Hell, the way one area is ran is different in other areas.

A cursory view also doesn't take into account the question of why things are ordered the way they are. There may be legitimate reasons for some of the measures put in place and legitimate arguments against those reasons.

Reasons and arguments to the contrary that I have personally spewed ad nauseum.

In your mind, does Israel have any legitimate reasons for doing what they do?

@cms neuf

Grossi from IAEA. And so many others from WSJ, security analysts. I'm not saying they did or didn't. I'm on record saying we need to hold on for awhile before we know.

You, however, have made a declaration, I want to know where your confident statement comes from.

Nope - didn't work.

And you know it didn't work...how?

More and more reports seem to think it worked to one degree or another. Grossi from the IAEA seems to think damage was done.

Did threatening to close the strait work? Y'know cutting off shipping lane that provides China its oil? Y'know the country that buys upwards to 90% of the major commodity Iran exports?

WSJ is reporting that an effect of the Iranian situation, China is now thinking about restarting negotiations with Russia about a pipeline.

Iran has not had a good couple of weeks. Every decision it's made has been harmful. Not to mention revealing to the world its many vulnerabilities. Block the Strait of Hormuz, lose orders from your customer.

Sorry all

Don't be sorry, your rants are a joy.

The football thing is an absurd turn of fate.

😀 It's like you were hit by some kind of Sartrean curse.

decent bacon that isn't paper thin and tastless

Really? Some of the best bacon I've ever had has been in Poland. Thick, smoked perfectly, and bursting with a flavor only dead cured pig in a smoker can produce.

that Palestine and the war in Iran played a big role in this election.

Astounding!
and I think people were voting on who they think can challenge Trump. So I think this is very bad for the DNC.

Now, this would be the positive fallout of this astoundingly unsettling result.

Still, Florida might suit you better.

The PLO recognised Israel decades ago yet Israel refuses to deal with Palestinians as an equal people.

I find this sentence interesting. You note that the PLO recognizes Israel-without qualification. However, you only offer a conjectured qualification about Israel. Why is that?

There have been more than ample examples that prove the conjectured qualification wrong.

When it comes to Gaza, what does the PLO have to do with it, anyways? It is controled by Hamas-an Iranian-backed terrorist organization that has vowed to end the existence of Israel. In other words, it is controled by an authority that contradicts what the PLO agreed to: the right of Israel to exist in peace free from terroristic threats.

There's adequate room for Israeli criticism, but the apartheid charge smacks of something you read in the Young Marxian Daily-a propaganda newspaper funded by comfortable wealthy penthouse Marxists and read by Westerners living comfortable lives generated by capitalistic ventures.

You also have more B-52s than we have Tu-95s

Isn't it amazing those planes are still serving an effective purpose?

I'd rather take Abrams and HIMARS

You might be getting some. The NATO annual shindig going on right now sounds like its a big money cannon.

shows you have some dysfunctional childhood issues hanging on.

You're right on the mark. Now, I shall pour out my soul to you.

When I was a young lad, I used to go fishing with my dad and uncles. It was always special time. A young boy, his dad, uncles, and fishing pole. I always looked forward to these outings of casting a line in Lake Buckeye, sipping on orange Crush, listening to my dad and uncles recounting their heydays as all-star football and basketball players and how some day they pass the torch to me. It's like the world melted away and heaven wrapped itself around us.

I always looked forward to it.

It was June 19, 1975. We just received word the youngest if my uncles was coming home from Nam. We were overjoyed. To temper our excitement, we headed to the lake to drop a line. As we reached dirt patch that led to the path that cut through the thick woods down to the lake, we saw a lone car. An odd car. It had Michigan plates that read JOHNNY and a rebel flag sticker.

I remember it like it was yesterday. The mosquitos were active as we traversed the path, but their bites were negligible as we happily bantered about what we'll do when Mikey got home.

Then, we heard water splashing in the distance.

"The fish must be eager today," said dad.

"Yep. Bet I catch a 15 pounder today," said Uncle Tom

""I'll beat you all, " said Uncle Joe, "I'm gonna hook a veritable fvcking whale in that b!tch." Joe spoke in colors.

Uncle Bill smacked Joe upside his head. "Joe! The boy! Watch your words, you fvcking ******* "

Joe rubbed his head. Our joy and excitement had transitioned from Mikey to the upcoming catch.

As we neared the opening to the lake, the sun broke through the heavy wood. And the sounds of nature livened: birds chirping, bugs buzzing, the light breeze wisping. But, then, interweaving these sounds of nature were unknown sounds to me. It sounded like boars burrowing the ground for food. Heavy grunts, but, no, these weren't boar grunts. Nor were they grunts of hunger. They were something strange to my virgin ears.

I looked at my dad and canvassed my uncles. They had looks that weren't so much puzzled but forlorned.

The closer we got to the opening the louder and clearer the grunting noise became. Finally, we passed through the wooded path onto the pristine banks of Lake Buckeye.

And, there it was. I sight forever burned in my innocent child's brain:

First I saw the flag of the Great State of Michigan atop a 6 foot pole flapping rhythmically in the mild June air.

Then, my eyes fell on a scene that confused and corrupted. A man, wearing a Rebel flag hat, pants to his ankles was fvcking fish.

still find it in their hearts to slander the living daylights out of said host countries

Now I get it! You have been sent to Polska on a retaliatory mission by the British foreign service. A just deserts mission, give to the Poles what those bastards give to you back home. 😀

BTW, your b!tch and moaning is truly an art form. I not only like the loquaciousness of your screeds, but admire the consistent level of rigor, distaste, and disdain. Too bad you are in Warsaw and mot Poznan, I'd ring you for a beer in a couple weeks so I can hear about your disdain for us Yanks in stereo. 😀

I, however, still can't comprehend how you don't like the greatest gift your people have given to world: soccer.

Maybe Adams beats him in the general. Regardless, it is bewildering this guy saw the light of day in politics. Are we really that far off the reservation?

I always thought Cuomo was a codpiece, but at least he wasn't radical. Just a vanilla liberal. I can work with vanilla liberals.

From CBS News:

Late poll predicts Mamdani wins
While polling heading into the primary consistently showed Cuomo winning, one released the day before the election had Mamdani defeating him.

The Emerson College Polling/PIX11/The Hill poll released Monday had the two leading candidates neck and neck, with Mamdani ultimately winning the ranked choice voting simulation after eight rounds.

Lander was the only other candidate with double digit support in the first round in the poll

Has New York completely lost its mind? How this Mamdani guy is even getting a percent is distressing.

I was there in '95 and it was a great city.

1) I'm on board.
2) Reasonable, as long as that stays within Russia's border.
3) Reasonable, however, a shooting first philosophy may cause others to shoot preemptively so as not to get shot first. So, the Russian version of Peace Through Strength needs revision so as not to cause instability.
4) Hell yeah!
5) Maybe. However, not for a Putin to decide such. If so, he, in effect, is the supranational entity controlling others.

I want that black bomber

Someday your wish may come true as we are developing a replacement.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northrop_Grumman_B-21_Raider

As far as I know Americans never sold B2s to any country.

We only made 21 of them and 2 are already out of service.

In its current form the EU is an empire of clerks, with a thousand pens but no sword - as Bobko said, hopelessly impotent.

I know this is off-topic, which will cause JR to stop copulating with the assortment of Michigan trout, crappie, and bass he keeps prisoner in his basement to bring us back on track, but lines such as the above and Bobko Bobkovich's earlier line about Medvedev, makes me wonder if PF exists not for the wayward pathological ingrates, but for the wayward pathological poets.

I hopped back on just to say a thing or two about bunker busters, but I have been distracted by the mellifluous banter to stay longer than expected. Publishing houses should be prowling around this dysfunctional board.
