@Novichok, how are stories like this anti-women? lol This is a fantasy story where there are all kinds of creatures that don't exist in the real world and where people do magic. Are those stories anti-men, because men can't do magic in the real world? Men are smart enough to know that they are simply not capable of making magic lol

Women are smart enough to know that they are simply not capable to fight men with swords.

Noone fights with swords these days anymore lol These days we have guns. Guns are quite an equaliser - even kids can use them. And women can use guns as well as men. So get over yourself and stop worrying so much about fantasy stories that are supposed to be entertaining. If you were to write novels they would be terribly boring and... very short, I imagine lol

that fight should last 3 seconds.

Well, Ciri was trained by witchers in Kaer Morhen, you know. That could give her some advantage in comparison to an average teenage girl, I suppose :)

That sword would be too heavy to swing for the average 25-year-old guy.

Ciri's sword was a gwyhyr made by gnomes. It's blade was very light :):

@Novichok, more popular among people like Strzelec35 maybe. Ciri in the books was 16 years old, you sick f*ck.

A chick smiles and offers sex.

You're both disgusting and an idiot. Ciri wasn't an ordinary girl. Everyone and their mother was after her. She had to know how to defend herself.

It's like you, let us say, sending you granddaughter to krav maga classes.

Anyway, Ciri was one of very few females that I recall fighting with a sword in "The Witcher" books, I think. Another was, for example, Renfri, but she wasn't an ordinary woman either:

There...My script is better ...

No, it isn't.

@Novichok, you can't use poison if someone is coming at you with a sword lol

AR-15. Just as likely...It's a fantasy, isn't it?

"The Witcher" is a type of fantasy story with the world based on stuff from Middle Ages, Renaissance, etc. AR-15 wouldn't fit in such a world. Swords do.

Of course, not, so I am not commenting about the books.

But in the books Ciri is fighting with a sword. So what were they supposed to make her fight with in the TV series? With a broom? lol

as exemplified by the attached picture.

You didn't read "The Witcher" saga, did you lol

To prevail, they just nag men to death.

Well, in "The Witcher" books they kill them with spells and swords, etc. :D

Relax, Novichok, it's just a fantasy story ;D

How did Netflix get this project funded without at least one gay guy

I didn't watch the whole 3rd season yet, but it looks like they're going to turn Jaskier into a bisexual...

Yup, I agree.

Who will throw the first rotten tomato at that bastard???

lol
Thanks to your comment I just had an epiphany why that review site Rotten Tomatoes is called like that ;D

I can tell you it has always happened to films and series which are book adaptations. :):)

Well, you know, there are changes and there CHANGES... :) I'm a Tolkien fan and even though they made some changes in the movie trilogy they were minor enough and they didn't mess up the plot and the characters. I loved the movie. Netflix's "The Witcher" is a different matter entirely... Also, LOTR movie was great, some even say it's a fantasy masterpiece... You can't say that about "The Witcher", unfortunately...

I hope the polish producer doesn't get fired now.

o_O

I see you don't understand... Tomek Bagiński, the Polish producer, is one of the people responsible for those changes, for that "bastardisation" of "The Witcher". He claims that deviating from the books was necessary. He is being heavily criticised by Poles, especially by Polish fans of "The Witcher" saga.

Didn't you read the article?

How is he wrong?

Who?

The show has been bastardised and is nothing like the books which delved deeply into Slavic mythology.

I know that...

You must be one of those low iq poles if you enjoy this show.

Aaand... how did you draw this conclusion exactly?? o_O

The creators of Netflix's "The Witcher" TV series based on a saga written by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski seem to be just sinking and digging themselves deeper and deeper... lol

It looks like that according to our very own Tomek Bagiński Americans are too dumb and unsophisticated for the real "The Witcher" and that's why they did all the changes and deviated from the books so much:

forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2023/08/03/the-witcher-producer-blames-stupid-americans-and-emotional-young-people-for-the-shows-failures/amp/

Better yet, hire creatives who don't have disdain for their audiences and the source material they're seeking to adapt. It isn't that hard.

This. ☝️

I'd like to apologise all Americans for this Bagiński idiot. We are suffering inside too when we're reading what he's saying, trust me lol 😭

Why do you allow such crap posted by an obvious troll in threads that were created mainly for fun?

Po polsku / Gdzie kupić sztukę? [6]

pakamera.pl/koszulka-z-nadrukiem-0-t31937.htm

A jeśli ktoś chce coś z polską tematyką ;):

Life / Owning a house in true countryside of Poland - stories [659]

@pawian, my immortal, unbeatable, super granny has only grown potatos, wheat and strawberries in the field, as far as I can remember, so I don't have any ideas anymore :)) ;)

You mentioned potato harvest. It might also produce that hollow sound in certain conditions. How?

The only thing that came to my mind was digging out potatos with the use of a hoe - the hoe hitting the ground makes a sort of blunt noise... Not sure about "hollow" though...

Love / I am going to poland to meet my boyfriend's family and friends and need some advice [8]

Is it ok to greet his family and friends with a kiss on a cheek the first time? or is it weird?

I'd say this is rather reserved for family and close friends, so I'd probably wait with that if I were you - Poland is not France :)) You could try to give his family members a hug though, I guess. In case of friends I'd just give them a handshake - I'd say this is a safe choice for a first meeting (unless they're huggy people, then they'll hug you first).

Poles are often pretty reserved people, we aren't very expressive, at least in comparison to Latin people, but they get warmer once they get to know you.

it would be disrespectful if I suggest to go dancing with his friends? or how can I gain their approval?

Your boyfriend is going to be your host, so it's on him to organise everything and make sure you'll have a good time with his friends, imho. Just talk to him about what you'd like to do.

I read about Poland history, gastronomy (but I don't know how to make any Polish dish) and culture.

That's nice, Poles like it when foreigners know something about their country or at least show interest - I'm sure you'll score points with that :)

As for his mother - a way to win her over could be eating whatever she gives you to eat and say how tasty everything is lol ;)

As for language barrier - just ask your boyfriend to translate for you and maybe you could use Google Translate or some app.

Don't worry, Poles know how difficult their language is ;D

Life / The Pole is happy when someone else cries... [75]

Then Poland became instrumental in explaining to us how everything worked inside the Hungarian liberal camp, and in identifying the key persons to be removed.

I don't think I've ever heard of that before. What are your sources for that info?
Here's an interview with a Hungarian historian about Polish response to Hungarian Revolution of 1956 and he doesn't mention what you wrote about:

I noticed you did not mention the crushing of the Prague Spring.

Because you were right about that, so I didn't have to correct you.

I suppose your Google skills were sufficient for that.

Eh? You do realise that they teach history at Polish schools, right? o_O

What did he promise? What did he do?

Sorry, but I have no idea what you're talking about.

Russians are positively docile next to Poles.

What a load of bullsh1t. Don't you know your own history? You don't get to have a country as big as RuSSia by being "docile" o_O

Poles are the Chechens of Europe lol

Why Chechens?

Educate yourself

Bobko, I think you should learn by now that Poles know the history of their country better than you do lol Polish army didn't participate in quenching the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. It's you who should educate yourself.

Life / Are Polish Women very promiscuous towards foreigners and refugees? [197]

@Novichok, for me it would be enough (to at least question my knowledge about that period) if Lyzko posted a link to an article in a reputable newspaper, if he quoted excerpts from a book written by a serious, renowned historian, if he gave us a title of a documentary made by a reputable TV station.

Even if Lyzko answered my 4 questions right away at least that would make him more trustworthy in my eyes. But he didn't. He didn't answer them repeatedly.

All else is suspect.

Why do you claim then that Lyzko is being "smart" by not answering some basic questions? You don't know if he's being smart or a liar or someone who exaggarated and is too much of a coward to admit that he was wrong.

Life / Are Polish Women very promiscuous towards foreigners and refugees? [197]

...only to claim that he lied.

No, I don't automatically assume that he would be lying. He could give dishonest, made up answers to my 4 questions many times already, but he didn't. It think it probably means that Lyzko has some remnants of human decency.

The thing is, if he didn't exaggerate, he would simply answer those 4 questions right away instead of repeating the same general claims and accusations about us over and over again. The fact that he was stalling like that made me suspicious.

Lyzko is smart enough to know that such conversations never end - even if he posted unimpeachable evidence.

That is simply not true. If he posted unimpeachable evidence then it would be different.

And in case you haven't noticed Lyzko repeatedly discarded our knowledge about PRL and our experience, which, I think it's pretty obvious by now, surpasses his. So, that's like the pot calling the kettle black.
