Wojciech Mann, an acclaimed journalist, satirist and a TV/radio presenter, became a father relatively late in his life (at the age of 43). He enjoys a very close relationship with his son Marcin. However, in a recent interview with Katarzyna Kubisiowska (see the latest issue of Tygodnik Powszechny), he stated that he sees no positive sides of becoming a parent so late, and that if there is one thing that he regrets in his life, it's not having children earlier and more of them.

So, dear PF readers who are approaching 40 (or 30 in case of women) and still haven't passed on their valuable genes to the next generation: take Wojciech Mann's words as a warning and get your fingers out (in more than one sense).

Oh, and about that...

This patriotic "psychosis", as you call it, is what's kept the Polish nation (if not always the Polish state) alive for over 1000 years. You know our history well enough for me to spare myself the trouble of providing examples. To be surprised/appalled/amazed at Polish "patriotic psychosis" after 7 years on PF is strange. This is who we are, this is who we have always been.


The problem is, Maf, that I know too many Russians personally to believe your "bloodthirsty, humiliation-inflicting beasts" theory. Maybe there is such minority in Russia, a very vocal minority, with access to public TV and media, and very active in the comments sections of various social media, but it's a sad minority nonetheless.

Why would those migrants want to settle in Poland, where social benefits are far lower than in Western Europe, the local population is ready to defend their culture and traditions, and the language is slightly more difficult than Chinese for most foreigners?

90s wasn't a decade, it was a state of mind. In the photo above we see the event that took place in Długi Targ (Long Market Square) in Gdańsk in 1992 when skinheads and hooligans decided to settle a dispute with anarchists, probably over who should get a literary Nobel Prize that year, with the use of chains, knives and metal bars.

Why not terminating middle pregnancy? Or why not late pregnancy? In some "civilised" countries we do have so-called partial-birth abortions after all.

Come to think of it... if "early pregnancy" is OK, then why not "early childhood"? How do we judge when human life starts? Who has the right to decide such things?

So, maybe (just maybe) we should restrain our killer instincts and don't murder children whether it's "early pregnancy", "middle childhood" or "late adolescence". Just a thought.

It is now also obvious that German companies will get the lion's share of Ukraine's rebuilding program. The same Germans who were telling Ukrainians that their defeat was a question of weeks while Poland was sending fuel, ammunition and tanks almost right away. We played it very badly. Do we always have to be the noble, magnanimous ones, just to be screwed in the arse in return? It's a recurring pattern.


Maybe they are. But that's OK, I suppose, because this time they're on our side.

I still am. These Ukrainian artillery men lost keys to their arseholes so they are sh*tting through their teeth. These things happen.


What do you mean all the rest? Ukrainians were singing praises of PT91 Twardy and practically masturbated to Piorun manpads and Warmate drones. Also, I watched a video in which they praised Krabs highly so I guess opinions are divided (not that I give a sh*t - if they don't want them, all the better - more for us :)).

That reminds me of a war memoir I once read where a former young Wehrmacht officer recalled how his older colleague warned him not to be fooled by Poles being calm and quiet. He said that "when Poles are quiet it means they are sharpening their knives, and Poles can sharpen their knives so quietly that even God can't hear it" (or something to that effect). :)

The reality is, we are just careful with strangers. You never know who the stranger might be (an enemy, a ferret, a Frenchman), better keep quiet. When we're with friends or family we can be pretty loud too.
