The men's suits aren't that different from how I dress now.

Unfortunately that's not how most men dress these days. A street in any European city a hundred years ago looked much more civilised.

And ugly.

Not nearly as ugly as sleeveless, bellyless crop tops and leggings on some women. Some things just cannot be unseen 0_0. If we are to tolerate this new fashion, then there have to be weight limits introduced for certain items of clothing and police should come down like a ton of bricks on women who don't respect the limits.

blocking this particular YouTube channel in Poland

It's not blocked. I'm in Gdańsk and I could watch it but the huge logo, made to look like it's TVN, is a major red flag. It indicates vicious PiS propaganda, so I'll pass.

Kielce - what went wrong?: 1920s

If one compares the fashion in the streets of Kielce (or any other European city) 100 years ago and today, one cannot help but wonder what went wrong meanwhile?

Making Orange Marmalade: 1975

Euro 1976 qualifiers, the Dutch were vice-champions of the world and they thought they were hot-shots. Then they came to Poland. The rest is history. In the photo we see Andrzej "Diabeł" (the devil) Szarmach who scored two goals in that game.

Today, almost 50 years later, it's time to make some orange marmalade again, boys! GO POLAND!!! :)

Tusk has canceled other vital projects like CPL for example.

As far as I know, CPK has not been cancelled.

As for migrants, millions will have to be let in because Poles don't have enough children. The point is to select the migrants we want instead of taking the thugs that Merkel let in. If Tusk is doing that, he's an idiot.

prosecutors will be happy

Oh, yes, no worries, proper investigations are being conducted, but as I said - it has to be dragged out in time for about a year until the new president takes over. We don't want the prosecutors' and judges' work to be ruined again by some convenient presidential acquittals.

PiS was trying

It's unbelievable that after all this sh*t you are still trying to defend them... mind boggles. I suppose it's true what they say about PiS: they don't have voters/supporters, they have cult followers/confessors.

I would also add the horse studs which PiS took over

Sure. Or the Silver Towers affair, or Mejza's "medical" services, or the famous wybory kopertowe. It was so much that a normal person can't remember it all.

rightists

Don't call them rightists, they're f*cking bolsheviks.

Oh, and one more "strawberry on the cake", as Tomasz Hajto would say - millions in bonuses paid to PiS government officials right after the lost elections.

Between 15th October and 13 December 2023 they paid themselves over 40 million pln in bonuses. :) I know, I know - compared to their other "businesses" it's pocket money, but it shows perfectly well what kind of people they are.

give some examples

Are you kidding me??? :D

OK, here goes...

Coal power plant in Ostrołęka - five years of pumping money into it, 1.4 billion pln losses, change of plans from coal to gas power plant and razing the C block to the ground :D But, no worries - those who were supposed to make money on it, made their money. It's only Polish taxpayers who lost.

Orlen and Lotos merger, resulting in Saudis taking over the shares and Hungarians (Russian puppet concern) taking over Polish Lotos stations. Thieves who were supposed to make money on, made their money. It's only Poland that lost. Magically, somehow Obajtek ends up owning 35 million pln in real estate only :) But he must have shared with whom he was supposed to share, so as a reward he got elected to the EU parliament and got immunity - convenient, isn't it?

GetBack vindication company and 2.6 billion pln taken from suckers (compared to PO's famous AmberGold where people lost 850 million) with authorities and services being curiously blind long after it was obvious what kind of "enterprise" it was.

Life-support machines trader who allegedly died in Albania but before that PiS government made a huge order, never realised, on which Polish treasury lost about 150 million pln.

"Red is Bad" scandal and over half-a-billion pln pumped by PiS government (Agency of Strategic Reserves) through this money laundry.

... just off the top of my head, and it's only tip of the iceberg. I hope it will all be properly investigated (like hundreds of millions pumped into dodgy foundations) and all the criminals put behind bars. They can drag the investigations for a year or so, so that Mr Duda isn't given a chance to do any convenient acquittals.

you are one of the fanatics brainwashed by Gazeta Wyborcza and TVN beyond redemption

You must be one of the fanatics brainwashed by Gazeta Polska Codziennie and TV Republika beyond redemption.

PiS was the most kleptocratic government in Poland's history, putinist-level. They made pre-war Sanacja look like a bunch of ascetic monks. The stuff that came to light in recent months is staggering, but I bet it's only the tip of the iceberg.

By the way, whereabouts in Poland do you live?

So why does stalwart defender of democracy Tusk wants extra powers

Because...

ask for president's permission to deploy armed forces

... as long as Duda is the president we can expect him to try and pile obstacles for the new government. That's why Tusk wants the new regulations, so he doesn't have to rely on PiS-president Duda's permission.

Early elections

Early presidential elections would indeed be a blessing for Poland.

you haven't included "Who feed and defend"

Indeed. I apologise for the omission...

1

... as for going bankrupt, don't underestimate Polish peasants - they survived harder times than these, they will survive the import of Ukrainian agricultural products, which is in fact decreasing and grain subsidies for Polish farmers have been announced (over 2 billion pln for the January-May 2024 period).

How come you support Tusk

Lesser of the two evils. And, mark my words, the idiotic green "reforms" will be cancelled. The writing's on the wall.

most farmers and "peasants" vote for PiS now

That's because the PiS bolsheviks managed to fool them into believing that they are a Catholic party. This is a weak spot with peasants (and with me too) so they fell for it.

Hopefully, the peasants will soon realise that nobody hurt and corrupted the Church in Poland as much as PiS did in recent years, and will switch their sympathies back to PSL.

Nie rzucim ziemi skąd nasz ród! Nie damy pogrześć mowy.
Polski my naród, polski lud, Królewski szczep Piastowy.
Nie damy, by nas zgnębił wróg! Tak nam dopomóż Bóg!

Polish peasants forever!!!

It is OK if you don't.

Sure. Calling somebody a "moron" or telling them to "f*ck off" is ordinary courtesy on PF. Everyday dialogue. It's like telling "Good morning" to your neighbour in the real life. :)

I have never seen a more useless politician than him.

True. Also, I have certain reservations regarding his moral standards, but I don't want to elaborate on the topic. Not my favourite politician and PSL would be better off without him.

The reason I vote PSL is not because I don't notice their numerous flaws, I do. It's because I still believe in Polish peasants as a social stratum. Most down to earth, commonsensical and resistant to new fashions group in Poland. Go peasants!

Yes, decent patriotic Poles and Polesses consider you a renegade.

I am a decent patriotic Pole. What people blinded by hate consider is the least of my worries.

4-Nation unity. Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia.

This unity is, of course, painfully incomplete without one nation. S _ R B _ _. Would you like to buy a vowel? ;)

"Voted out"?

It's "bored out of his mind". Probably autocorrect - annoying stuff.

Much of my surrounding also finds my infatuation with Poland suspicious.

Oh, yeah? How do you think my Russophilia is perceived? You can get a hint by reading PF sometimes :D

Poland should one day become part of a 4-Nation unity. Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia. One spiritual and philosophical continuum.

this was addressed at my nemesis

Oh, no probs. I misread that.

All in all a tragic figure, Rokossovski, perceived as a Pole in Russia and as a Russian in Poland. In different historical circumstances and under different political system he might well have been remembered as a hero of two nations. Alas, history's a b*tch sometimes. :(

Your negative appraisals are valued at close to zero by me.

I'm sorry to hear that, Bobi. I'm just telling you about the general perception of Rokossowski in Poland.

Sent back to the USSR by the new leadership in 1956.

After Stalin's death, it was only a question of time when his faithful praetorian is sent back home. As I said, the purges in the Polish Army that he initiated and supervised is what shaped his image in Poland.

The man, did more than any Western commander to defeat Nazi Germany.

I don't deny that. Hero of Soviet Union no doubt. But it so happens that heroes of one country are not necessarily perceived as such in another. Life.

Men like him, that acted responsibly regardless of this chaos

Makes sense. Piłsudski had his vehement opponents too but in the Polish-Soviet war they were there in the trenches together with Piłsudski's most dedicated followers.

As for Rokossovski, he is perceived mostly negatively in Poland; yes, he defended characteristic Polish military traditions (two-finger salute, rogatywkas, cross-shaped medals etc.) and considered himself a Pole, but he was very ideologically minded and initiated stalinist purges in Wojsko Polskie, sending many Polish patriots (a lot of them pre-war officers) to their deaths.

Are there any records about such a family?

I have no idea. Surnames are sometimes strange.

completely unnatural

Is it completely unnatural? We do have "rży"/"rżeć" and "drży"/"drżeć" after all. But it's very unusual, true.

But this...

the Russians heard two "zh's" in Krzyżanowski but saw an 'r' which is not pronounced in Polish

... is also possible.

We have to write to professor Miodek (or Bralczyk). :)

Is that a legit Polish surname?

Unusual, but legit.

Yes, besides the ending (it's "и" instead of "ий").

Exactly.

"Krż" would be difficult to pronounce even for Poles

Not that difficult but it does indeed sound a bit Czech; they have those strč, prst, skrž, krk etc. clusters.

*starts crying*

Typical reaction of a foreigner learning Polish phonological system.

Do you feel the Russian writing and resulting pronunciation is accurate to how Poles would pronounce it?

The Russian transliteration is accurate but you would probably pronounce the ending closer to "iy" than "i". In general Russians make Polish sound much softer than it really is.

There's no r sound

Yes, there is. As I said, it's Krżyżanowski not Krzyżanowski.
