History / Poland rightwingers` bonds with PRL communist regime [191]

And where has Antoni Macierewicz, your great hero,

Antoni Macierewicz is not my great hero - also I haven't said that I know for a fact that the Smolensk crash is a case of assasination - however I do believe that Smolensk crash was not thoroughly explained and that lots of outrageous lies has been circulated around the case by what you can now describe as PiS hating media and political circles

Gazeta Wyborcza which substantially contributed to the ultimate fall of communism

you are funneh, pawian - even beyond funneh, actually - Michnik called Kiszczak and Jaruzelski people of honour in his newspaper

Poland shall remember his noble deeds.

yeah, especially the lies about Smoleńsk crash

Yes. So you understand that comparing it to PiS style on one party election wasn`t appropriate.

PiS was elected into power by the public - so it's got a pretty strong mandate to choose judges

All of them are elected by the ruling party???

they are elected by the public in their constituencies

On its own it's no argument. Unless there is a proof of his wrongdoing.

let's check his tax return then: would you scream injustice if Inland Revenue got around Zurek

And are used by this party to harass truly independent judges who go against the party`s expectations?

harass corrupt judges simple as that - how come judge Zurek has about 20 pieces of real estate all around Poland -is he a real estate collector or what?

All of them are elected by the ruling party???

they are elected by the public in their constituencies

imagine, pawian that the judiciary is hostile to you for some reason -you go to court on level one - and the verdict is against your wishes even if the law is misinterpreted against you - you go the the level 2 and it's the same you go say to the Supreme Court and it's the same - are you still sure the judiciary should be independent - you wnat courts to dictate the law? - independent judiciary eventually means the rule of the judges not the people - it's agianst the core of democracy: that's why judges in the United States are elected - they are being held to responsibility before the public

also the creation of new judges in Poland is in the hands of politicians just like in Germany - the Disciplinary Chamber is there to prevent the abuses and outward criminal activities by the judges - the Disciplinary Chamber is not politicians but judges -so how is it not independent?

I'm pretty sure you don't realise that the so called judicial independence is detrimental to societies and Poland is one of the starkest examples of that - but you can always choose to shut your eyes tight and pretend there's nothing wrong

also why on earth is the current Polish model of judiciary not in line with European 'rules'

Gumi, be serious - I can remind you of 100 cases from the last month alone - the best one is declaring LGBT-free zones.

ok, I should have restricted your search - I don't consider morons from municipal goverments representative of PiS - show me a leader of PiS who did things you accuse them of

by rejecting European values

if European values means you have to call a man a woman because he wishes so, than fvck European values

also if European values means Poland can't have the judiciary on the model of Germany than fvck European values

History / German treatment of Poles (Russian partition) during WW1? [25]

For example was there large use of slave-labour from that part of Poland during WW1

to be honest i never heard of such attempts - there was a drive to weaken Polish industry to create unemployment and force Poles in the German mainland (just read an article about it concerning Łódź's textile industry) but no slave-labour was in question to my knowledge

Poles worked in agriculture and forestry in Germany even before the Great War and war hardships probably made more of them to seek work in Germany - that's my guess

History / German treatment of Poles (Russian partition) during WW1? [25]

narikis - Germans confiscated lots of farm animals in the occupied zone (mostly cattle) from what i have read in Polish - also most if not all church bells were confiscated to be recast as ammunition

otherwise Germans aimed to create a vassal state from the Russian partition with Polish cultural institutions - so there was a huge difference between the I World War occupation and the II World War occupation
