Life / I saw Polish nationalism today [263]

And that was your post NOT hers.

A yeah - you are right!
I made a mistake, obviously. Probably because the only difference in these quotes are just a minor details.

For same reason - this is OK to propagate the idea of extermination of all the members of the ONR simply because of their silly haircuts.

Killing for no reason a skinhead - OK.
Killing for no reason a guy with the payots - Not OK

I got it now.

Just an remainder of one of the tolerant, open-minded, anti-racists, peace-loving persons' point of view:

I'm not tolerant person. I hate people like you. I think that people who are a danger for society should be jailed. There is no place in society for a margin. I don't have any compassion in my heart either for neonazis, ultra-nationalists, dresiarze, and all the rest of the margin. I believe that there is a society and the useless scum around them.

Let's say it clear and loudly YOU ARE A NAZI.

A patriot cares for the good name of his country.

This is pure Nazi attitude. The "tolerant", "free" people obviously don't want to discuss and to be open to various alternatives. They want them to shut up. If necessary using the violence.

Even your language is the one used by the Nazis. Let's play. :)

-----------------------------------
You've must be blind not to know the polichinelle secret. Please read the link to Volker Tagerblatt and then shut up.

I really admire those people from NSDAP who doesn't afraid to make this contermanifastation. I would be scared that some day I will met one of those communists on the street and they will kill me or beat me badly or that someone take a photo of me and post it on PRABDA.

The jew community members should be all jailed as they are a danger for society.
Many of those people are probably involved in stealing, deceptions acts and spreading of the syphilis. THEY ALL SHOULD BE JAILED JUST FOR THEIR JEWISH PAYOTS! They are not patriots. They are parasites A patriot cares for the good name of his country.

some facts.

1) Nazi ideology, symbolism, etc is ILLEGAL in Poland and is punishable.
2) ONR and Młodzież Wszechpolska are both legally registered organisations.
3) This march was legally agreed by the city council. The anti-demonstration was illegal.

The ONR people bear Polish National Flags, sings our anthem and scream "Long live Poland!"
The leftist tolerance-lovers bear stones and sticks and scream "Shut up or else..."

Who is real fascist here?

Law / The best job in the World - Polish farmer. [50]

Buying eggs from your neighbors and selling them as stamped organic because you are certified, would be something I expect in PL.

That is possible.

On the other hand, comparing to western standards, its fair to say that the majority of Polish farms are in fact "organic". Certificate is just a piece of paper.

Law / The best job in the World - Polish farmer. [50]

This is a stupid post... farmers in Poland have it very hard and they work very hard .

This was some poetry.
Now it's time for some facts:

- Average farm in Poland is 10,23 ha (102300 square meters).
- Polish farmer really does not supposed to pay any income tax.
- Average monthly payment into the social security system:
Farmers: 23.34PLN
Others: 140,38PLN

Please bear in mind that the pensions received from the common budget by farmers are comparable to those received by "the others".

As for hard work. Come on, I know the country life. Right now country folks in Poland enjoy a 4-months holiday (because the fields soon will be frozen) while factory workers are working, taking overtimes and paying taxes and social contribution (6 times more than the farmers).

And I am talking about real farmers. Because there are a lot of people who are farmers only on paper. For instance - majority of the taxi drivers in my home town are "legally farmers". They don't pay income taxes as well.

Polish farmer is the last free Men of Europe!

They are outside of taxation system, they don't care about social security. And no political party would dare to touch them because they are a huge part of the population. And they have got a right to vote.

I have family members who would strongly disagree with you..

Yeah. Moaning about hardship and lack of money is our national trait. I did the same thing when living in the countryside.

I checked a price of the one medium-class tractor.
Type: Massey Ferguson 7480 DYNA VT
Condition: Used
Year of production: 2006
Price: 168 672 PLN ( 59 753$)

Not bad for a poor guy, heh?

Yeh but not many are rich and the workload!! i was toying with the idea recently.

Taking under consideration that the vast majority of them own the land, houses and machinery and the word "mortgage" is virtually unknown to them, I think it would be fair to presume, that 90% of them are richer than I am. And probably richer than you are. :-)

Workload - I've spend 7 years of my life in the living in the small village. I know something about the workload. There are times in year when they work around the clock (like August and September). But right now most of them just resting. And there will be nothing to do until April.

To acquire a legal status of the farmer is quite difficult even for the Polish citizen. For a foreigner - it's nearly impossible.

It's a quite funny thing, but for some 123 years the Poles were called "bandits" and "terrorists". Now we are invading other people's country.

First: As a Polish farmer you are not expected to pay any income tax!

plus: local taxes are reallly low.
plus: Payments into the Social Security system are at the level of 10-20% of these paid by the town dwellers. But received pensions are equal.

plus: you are entitled to buy diesel fuel at a special (cheaper - of course) price.
plus: You are entitled to the money from the European Union.
plus: If you want to build house for yourself on your grounds - you will pay only a small % of the usual legal fees.

And much more.

Basically - being a farmer in Poland is great!

Life / Why Polish people should be proud of being Polish? [370]

Taking under consideration the history of Poland - it is a quite hard task to find anything to be proud of. All our national heroes are loosers. They lost. Take under consideration the battle of Grunwald (or Tannenberg as Germans call it). We win, but the outcome of this battle was disastrous.

Or Kosciuszko - he lost. Even king Sobieski died as a bitter man, cursing Poland an Poles. The same as Piłsudski. Our national heroes are not winners and victorious leaders. They are people who bravely fight the lost battles, and dies in a highly heroic, poetic and totally unneccesarey way. Kapitan Raginis is a kind of symbol.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W%C5%82adys%C5%82aw_Raginis

But there is something I am proud of. And ashamed at the same time. It's the love towards (as they called it in the old times) golden freedom. This was (and is) what define "Polishness". In XV and later century whole Europe was ruled by the absolutist monarchy. Except Poland. Our king was elected. This democracy was something unusual. There was a saying that "Szlachcic na zagrodzie równy wojewodzie". (Man on his own grounds is equal to the governor) It was a strong "get off my lawn" culture.

During the Swedish invasion they destroy us quite fast. And they tried to put some orders in place. Only to find out that the Poles are totally "unmanageable" .

Travel / My visit to Poland - Likes & Dislikes. [137]

What always amazed me is that the foreigners in Poland usually complain that the Poland is not like their home country.

For instance: Poles don't speak English. Outrage! Or that you can't just return purchased item to the store, simply because you changed your mind. People don't smile all the time. Washing machines are different. And there is no maple syrup. Can you imagine THAT?

Once I've heard a comment that apart from McDonald's - everything in Poland sucks. And of course - In the US McDonald's is far better.

Work / Black English Teacher going to Wroclaw [247]

Content removed

From the Polish guy perspective:

Would they potentially not want me to teach them?

Because you are black? On the contrary - I think that it may give you some extra students. You know - you look like a "real foreigner".

Will my race be an issue in day to day living?

It depends how you define "an issue".
First - you have to understand that the Political Correctness is virtually unknown in Poland. On the West people are learned to be "color blind" (or at least to pretend). Not in Poland. Therefore from time to time you may be refered as "the black one". Exactly the same way you may be called "baldy, red-head or fatso" if that would distinguish you from the others.

Second - average Pole has no prejudice towards blacks. Simply because there was so little contacts with them. There are no black communities in Poland or something like that. I think that most knowledge about blacks in Poland are from the Hollywood films. Therefore you may expect questions like: "Can I see you gun?" or "Can you prepare a voodoo doll for me?"

If you are over-sensitive on these points, it may be a source of real issues.
My advice: Trust your sense of humour.

Personal safety:

You are from NY, so you know what to do and where to go and on what time of the day, right?
Thugs are the same all over the world. Your chances of being mugged or beaten are slightly higher than the average. As a black person in the white community you are stand out of the crowd. As a foreigner - you will be seen as a rich guy (worth of mugging). The pepper-spray suggestion is the good one IMHO.

Genealogy / THE MEANING AND RESEARCH OF MY POLISH LAST NAME, SURNAME? [4500]

Dabrowski or Dombrowski

Literally it means "a man from the oak forest". This is a quite popular name in Poland, so there is no way to indicate where your roots are.

Change of "ą" into "om" is a common spelling mistake.
Dąbrowski's coat of arms (also known as Panna - Virgin):

DESKIEWICZ?

Well... The first impression is a word "deska" (plank, wooden board). The -icz suggest Lithuanian roots of this surname (like Mickiewicz)

Po polsku / Stereotyp Polaka brutala, gbura, antysemity? [67]

I niestety - musimy to zaakceptować.

I jesli trzeba - nawet w ryj przyłożyć.

The famous king Jan III Sobieski after saving the Vienna from the siege by the charge of the famous winged hussars:

"Was it so hard?"

"Nah. It stinks."

Law / Poland's going forward while Britain is still trying to wake up [86]

These gifts were later distributed by the Polish Church. I was a kid then. I still remember a bloc of reddish-orange cheese (never before seen something like that) and a warm hat I get.

It wasn't a matter of survival. We would survive anyway. But most certainly it make our Christmas a little more happy one. It was easier to cope with that damn-cold Polish winter with the hat like that. It also teach us something.

I remember later when we all become richer how we pack a trucks full of food and clothes for the Chechnya and former Yugoslavia.
I never thought that I will able to say thank you to these good people.
Thank you m-g. And pass my words of gratitude to your Mom, please.

Law / Poland's going forward while Britain is still trying to wake up [86]

I am tired of ppl who think it's ok to criticize the hell out of another country, but don't you dare say sth about Poland.

I think that this is fair to criticise. And its fair to discuss this.
What is not fair? Obviously on this forum only to criticise Poland is allowed.

I live in the UK. And I kind of like this country. Well - maybe I even starting to consider is as my home. But I am not going to pretend that everything is perfect here. Because it isn't.

And I wont shut up simply because I have got some £ in my pocket. This would be dishonest.
But my criticism is mild. I wouldn't go that far as calling someone else's country a "Shithole". What I am talking about is exactly what you can hear in the local pub among the English gentlemen. Well - sometimes they even talking a worse things.

I am not talking anything new. Anything unusual.

So why my remarks are met with a hysteric reactions from some of you for most of the time?
Because I am Polish. I shall count a pounds in my pocket and shut up. I shall show "gratitude", bow all the time and not express my views. The freedom of speech and liberties are not good enough for us - sub humans. The only thing you expect to hear from us is "Yes, master" or "No, master". The second one - only in theory.

The Old Empire still exist.

When PL joined the EU, there were some towns in the East of PL that didn't even have a sewage system yet.

Exactly! But at least Poles are slowly accustomed with the idea of the toilet paper. I also heard that a soap poisoning levels caused by attempts to eat it are in the sharp drop.

The average household in Poland is equiped with one of these:

shithole

Here is a mobile toilet in Polish style. Please note evil smile on its face.

Traditional Polish sign for the toilet is not "WC" but
