History / Poles should apologise to Ukrainians first [487]

What do you want more from PiS?

That suddenly they are changing the rules while the game is still going. It is unfair and Ukrainians are rightly disappointed.

there would be no war.

No, you are lying now. Putin admitted it a few times they want to conquer whole Ukraine.

but in this case we did not even lay a finger to creating the current mess.

Yes, it is PiS moronic losers who did. And reckless Ukrainians, too.

and the interest of any other country will never be above the interest of Rzeczpospolita."

It is sad to see how those PiS gangsters are changing their attitude. Pity.
I predict PIS is even able to unleash a nasty xenophobic campaign against Ukraine and Ukrainian.
Kania, apart from moral issues, think what effect it will have on the reputation of Poland in the world.
It seems that`s what you are waiting for., Tfu, kanalia!

This is all we need.

Yes, Putin and his gang are jumping with joy at these developments. :(:(:( So sad. Those PiS losers don`t respect any values. Tfu!

Ukraine thinks of nobody but Ukraine.

That`s a fully justified emotion. They are fighting against a mortal enemy who desires to destroy their young country. Poles are stupid to take offence. First they do their best to aid Ukraine and all of a sudden block Ukrainian food transports, one of the few means of Ukrainians to collect some funds which they desperately need.

It seems that PiS losers are also going to destroy the good relations between two countries.

*popcorn... I need more popcorn... :)*

Kania, stop fooling around. :):):) You should be enjoying your holiday instead. But it is raining and you can`t and don`t know what to do with time.

History / Warsaw Rising 1944 - National Disaster or Triumph of Spirit ? [515]

To imagine what those young people felt,

They were driven by the urge to take revenge on Germans for all atrocities. Warsaw had suffered the most under German occupation. Nazis claimed that without Warsaw, the Polish opposition to their plans for occupied Poland would diminish by 4/5.

The way it ended,

Only a few wise experienced people correctly predicted the result.

teenagers that were in control?

They weren`t. But the general atmosphere among them was full readiness to engage Germans and at last repay for all their crimes during 5 year long occupation. Irresponsible leaders knew about these emotions and took advantage of them.

Will teachers take even more?

" Teacher, will you accept more overtime?" - asked the weekly "GłosTeacher" before the holidays, and more than half of those taking part in the survey wrote that they would not be able to do it, because they were already too busy with work.

In Krakow, the situation is also saved by retired teachers. There are currently 949 of them in schools. This is over 7 percent. the entire teaching staff.

The situation is similar in other cities. Dariusz Chętkowski, a teacher from Lodz, writes about it on his blog. "For teenagers who will start high school in September, I advise you to spend a few days with grandma and grandpa (...). This will help you understand the teachers in the new school. They are very old (...). If someone came across a teacher, attached to a portable oxygen tank, please don't be surprised" - he appeals. And sums up the situation: "Actually, in every big city, a crisis team with the participation of the education superintendent should be convened to determine what to do if teachers are not found."

Study / Various education and school issues in Poland. Opinions, stories, controversies. [1006]

Because of PIS` deforms and their general ignorance and unwillingness to solve the problems of education, the shortage of teachers has reached its record levels this year.

School head teachers have been reporting a shortage of teachers for several years, but it has never been so bad. There are over 24,000 vacancies in Poland. The list prepared by the Dealerzy Wiedzy website (retrieves data on job offers from the websites of education authorities) shows that the worst situation is in the Mazowieckie Voivodeship, where there are 4,307 educators missing. The Lesser Poland voivodeship ranks second. The number of vacancies is 3,080.

Lesser Poland lacks, among others, pedagogues (521), psychologists (477), pre-school teachers (453), English teachers (166), vocational teachers (138), mathematics teachers (117), Polish language teachers (110), early childhood education teachers (101).

According to the Krakow magistrate, 527 teachers terminated their employment contracts this school year. It is not known how many did not extend fixed-term contracts.

So far, school principals have reported that there are 851 vacancies in Krakow. "Taking into account the number of schools and institutions (317), the statistically indicated shortages are within 2-3 full-time positions at the school" - informs the magistrate.

To make up for staff shortages, the Ministry of Education introduced regulations allowing teachers to work two full-time jobs. Their time spent at the blackboard is currently 18 classes a week, with the consent of the teacher, the head teacher could increase it to a maximum of 27 classes. From September the limit of 27 classes will be abolished. However, the minister's idea may not work out. School principals in Krakow have been filling up teacher vacancies for years, granting working teachers overtime hours. Will teachers take even more?

Thank you PiS.

History / Warsaw Rising 1944 - National Disaster or Triumph of Spirit ? [515]

We know it today. In 1944, people didn`t have this knowledge.

There are hundreds of Rising memorials all over Warsaw. At one of them they held a ceremony during which a deputy mayor of Warsaw said:

- It was here, on that beautiful August day, that you were sure at that hour that you were going for victory - said the deputy mayor of Warsaw, Tomasz Bratek, addressing the insurgents.

"You went into a frantic fight, sacrificing everything and paying no heed to anything. You went into the fight for the freedom that you loved so much, because you had been brought up in this way - he said. - This hard fight lasted 63 days. Today we light the fire of memory and during these 63 days we will remember your heroism, your devotion not only to Warsaw - he noted. - Unfortunately, this fight ended tragically - tragically then - because communism came and unfortunately this communism did not bring the desired freedom - he said. - But the testament and the message that you gave us during the days of the uprising helped us survive until 1989, when this real, longed-for freedom came - emphasized the deputy mayor of Warsaw.

- We will always remember - not only at 5 pm, when we will all stop here and throughout Poland - but we will remember for all subsequent generations - he said. - Warsaw today is beautiful, Warsaw today is great. (...) Thanks to you, this city - invincible Warsaw, the invincible city looks the way it does. And we promise you that all generations will remember your heroism, and your values will remain deeply in our hearts - assured Tomasz Bratek.

They sure did

I was talking about preventing, not Soviet colony.

Life / Owning a house in true countryside of Poland - stories [692]

Today it is the first time this year when I am annoyed it is raining. It was supposed to start raining late afternoon and I had planned to do some jobs in the orchard and field.

Call me crazy but I have kept a diary of rainy days since April.
My entries:
April - frequent rains
May - 02.05., 06.05., 16-17-18.05
June - 09.06., 13.06., 24.06.,
July - 01.07., 12.07., 19.07., 26.07
August - 01.08

I classify those rainy days from 10% which means short drizzle to 300% which means total downpour. The one like that was on 26.07. The percentage is measured by checking the level of water in the rainwater collection tank next to our barn. 100% rain means the tank has been filled to the brim.

Nice gesture of the German gov.
The German Embassy announced that in connection with the 79th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising, flags will be lowered to half-mast in all diplomatic missions in Poland.

"Today, on the anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising, all German diplomatic missions in Poland lowered their flags to half-mast as a sign of mourning and shame. We remember the victims, let their fate be a warning for us for the future. Never again!" - we read on Twitter of the German embassy."

News / Referendum to decide about exotic immigrants in Poland [559]

Why would a Thai, Phillipino or North African want to work in Poland anyway?

Because to them, Poland is a rich country. In Egypt, most farmers still use animals for transport and field work. It is extremely rare here.

News / Will PiS be happy if AfD wins elections in Germany? [1442]

After all, the AfD is ideologically very close to PiS

Yes, both are xenophobic and racist. However, AFD claims some Polish lands which once belonged to Germany. PiS will exploit it as another German threat after the EU.

Language / Will Germans be able to understand Polish enough? [77]

you could learn it all right anywhere, there was Russian, English, German and French in School in that order.

One French teacher per 200 schools. One English teacher per 100 schools. and so on. Russian teachers were everywhere and German in 50%. In my primary school we had Russian and German. In my high school Russian, German and English. There was only one teacher of English and two of German.

Judging by your poor participation in historical threads, I am better than you at history. Kneel down when you talk to an expert. hahahahaha

I am against hosting additional immigrants from the EU coz we are already helping Ukrainian refugees and migrants.

I am against but forgot to say that I am going to vote yes, in opposition to PiS` and nationalist Konfederacja`s ideology and expectations. This is Poland, the Land of Absurd, if anybody asks why.

I see 14% of the population,

For whole Poland, darling. That is over 4 million Ukrainians in 35 million state. While in Rus province it was over 60% Ukrainian minority, in the countryside even 80%. Ha! Educate yourself at last about past.

why would they claim that land?

I have just explained above, darling. :):):)

In other world should be Poland claim Chicago?

Stop twisting. Poles can`t claim Chicago coz they didn`t establish it. While Red Ruthenians had already lived in their lands when Poles came.

As for you other arguments, they are so senseless and far from any meaning I wonder why you are using them at all. To mess up the whole comnversation so that nobody knows anything. That is your typical trick, darling.

. a potato container?

What kind?

I hate to buy them soiled potatoes

You can buy washed and unwashed ones.

Why not if they have a Water pipe again

Small farmers don`t usually wash potatoes in the field. It is enough when they just scrape chunks of soil off the skin. Thorough washing is performed in food processing plants.

those are old polish territories I often talked about.

Yes, Polish formally, but practically - not.

Check the population nationality division in Ruthenian Province in pre-war Poland. The green colour means Ukrainians. Can you see those yellow spots in the green? Those are Poles concentrated in and around biggest cities and in Wołyń. .
