Don't be crazy the Germans admitted and atoned for their their crimes, The prime minister went to israel and begged on his knees for forgiveness.
Russians on the other hand glorify their murderous past , they killed tens of millions more than the Germans , they continued to slaughter and deport even after the war , they continue to lie and cover up to this day.

I live in Poland with family and friends in Poland and allot that you say just does not figure one of us must be totally out of touch.
You won't even take me up on my offer to come visit, If you did I could introduce you to many people who have had first hand knowledge of the darker times, then you might see why my understanding is at odds with your fleeting experience here in Poland.

What on earth are you talking about, I have family here who lived through those years, no one starved or were forced to prostitute themselves, poles are a resourceful people they on the whole worked their way through those times without losing their dignity.

Just take things slow, spend some time , year or two to see if you think its the place for raising your family , the reality is , there is a big difference between living in and just visiting Poland.
I am the opposite to you I have an English wife who came to Poland with me, you will find some adjustments need to be made in terms of culture.
Air is bad in Krakow in winter sad but true.
