When? And who attended the school? The poor started attending any sort of school about 200 - 150 years ago. Which is not the 16th century.

I mean that the language in use nowadays were the language of the elite few centuries back!
As a matter of fact commoner attended schools in Poland (Crown to be precise) about 500 years ago (hence Polish Golden Age)!

You seriously mean to tell me that Latin was used for everyday communication i.e., when discussing the weather, asking about the price of grain, or chatting up ladies at a party, in 18th - 19th century Poland?

yes, in Poland XVI century, you could communicate with a shoemaker in Latin :)

What language did they speak? And was it in any way different, grammar-wise, from the Polish spoken by the upper classes?

Whose language they teach at school ?

Well, in Poland about 200 years Latin was used for everyday communication, also for more years that I care to remember Latin was the language of correspondence and King's court, so it is more likely than Latin greatly influenced Polish :P

Latin/Germanic/Anglo base that they share.

Polish is stuffed with Latin words and grammar is formed after Latin, I agree about this Germanic part!
And French greatly influenced( contributed to the formation of the English language) English language during the middle ages, as you know...

there two separated issues:
* Nazi like organization few and far between, they are loons :) and their will never gain a ounce of real support!
* Some people in Poland don't like people of colour, and some will act on this ....but sometimes is only a pretext, as could be anything really!

and last but not least there is law which should punish any behaviour like assault seriously but it doesn't ....hence plenty of morons at large .....plus some things but in different thread maybe

people with university education survived about 6 percent of population
Warsaw destroyed, half pre-war territory annexed by Soviet's, most of the industry in ruin, people starving,
so called compensation - German territories, needs to be settled, all major towns in ruins, most of industry destroyed or moved into Soviet Union!
Now its only may 1945!
Later soviet occupation, Polish heroes, officers and politicians hunted down and murdered sent to heavy labour in Siberian wasteland.
Many of people with education and experience with running the country forced to remain abroad!
And then 40 years of Soviet yoke and brainwash of many ...........
So, some bitterness is understandable, I'm surprised as you are living in Poland !
Most of what you experience is result of WWII !
Its no some lost of the Empire because for average Joe there were no much difference while for average Joe in Poland there were a world of difference!

Your inability to comprehend such bitterness is amazing, and I don't mean only you Jonni:)

let's put it this way - very sparsely populated,

Northern Indians have almost 50% genetic similarity with Ukrainians too.

Don't know, this genetic research is new untested thing, is not that northern Indians and Aryans in Europe migrated from the same geographical area - one part into present day indie and second into Europe.

But OP is talking about something else than obscure "genetic similarity" he talks about h r1a1
is something entirely different as a measure of genetic similarity.
Are you saying that h r1a1 is encountered in northern India as well?

It's like saying that Poles are really Ukrainians. Our genes are similar because we share ancestry and we intermingled for centuries.

Honey, Ukraine were repopulated by Poles from Polish Kingdom after 1569 when Ukraine become part of the Crown, being before a part of Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

Some territories which constitute nowadays Ukraine, were integral part of Polish Kingdom since 1367, such as Lwów with surrounding areas and Podole.

So, it has nothing to do with roots, immigrants from Poland made Ukraine - if put it in simple terms!

How convenient, for the action of a few you didn't hesitate to blame nation, yet when come to praise you are very restrained, its contradiction which is short of prejudice.

To the point:
I believe that Poles ( a few exceptions doesn't count ) are exceptionally good soldiers, and given an average Pole and average whoever, I would always bet on a Pole.

Put it bluntly they have a talent for being a soldier, more so then any other nation.
