This is a man who must have put down 400.000 bucks to make the 20.000 profit he claims. Obviously he is another member of the PF millionaires club though I am slightly skeptical

Been a good day for my 3 European selections - Bank Pekao 9 % up. swatch and Essilor both 4% up. But the market will be nervous until Golden Cow's next climbdown on China. Anyway these 6 are all doing well for the time being so will look again in May - which gives Ptak, mister half million trade, a chance to list his selections .

Thanks for the tips Bobko, as you can guess I am not very bullish about the MOEX, not least because impossible to move money in or out. But maybe in the future there will be a day when it's safe to invest there.

For the people who manage them yes they are complicated - someone needs to constantly buy and sell the relevant stocks - which is expensive and time consuming. Hence not worth doing for small markets

If you are based in the US or UK those funds are true trackers and with a very low cost. Not the case for Polish residents.

The market leaders are not available in Poland, where brokerage is dominated by banks and where there are not enough small investors for someone like Vanguard to get the scale needed, both to buy the index (which is complicated and needs attention every day) and to charge low fees.

You can of course get zloty based ETFs and I have some. You can also get US ETFs managed by a bank like Santander or Citi but they are more expensive than just having your own portfolio.

Last 10 years beat the S&P 3x, down 5x and roughly equal twice. Another personal reason is that I like dividend paying stocks to give me a passive income and that is not the same as just using a market tracker.

I doubt I beat the S&P most years, though I did in 2024.

Have fun with your ISA - you won't have beaten inflation since COVID, but it's a solid way to invest if you are in UK. An ISA is not available to Polish residents, and this is a forum about Poland.

Don't think so - these guys Tavex will exchange almost anything and there is often a queue of misfits hanging around when they open the doors, but they don't seem to do rubels any more. Almost all other former UNNR currencies are still traded though.
