Before you chuck out your Christmas tree please remember that in Poland the Christmas season lasts from the start of Advent until Candlemas (2 Feb).

I know Polonius. I know. I get sick of the bloody tree after New Year, but the lady of the house so wishes that it stays 'til said date. Terrible:(

Feedback / Why are threads deleted or send off topic list? [60]

We get many "silver surfers" like you on here, but they are not ignorant, arrogant, aggressive and know how to use forums correctly.

Sorry but it you MODS who are ignorant Vincent, who tolerate posters such as Crow, while subjectively binning threads that are of value to people who LIVE IN Poland.

It's not so hard to grasp after all, even for you I would have thought.

All IMO.

Who is moving threads, cancelling or merging them?

Absolutely. Bone ignorant, whoever they are. And definitely PIS sympathisers, when MODS should obviously, like journalists, be on the fence.

News / Should Poland exit the EU immediately? [377]

The BBC interviewer absolutely destroyed Duda there. He looked a clown and tried to play the "economical with the truth" card, but she marked that card for him.

Poor, must do better! Clearly admitted to being racist and agreeing with Kaczynski's xenophobia.

I've never had Carp

Lucky you! Disgusting muck. I would rather starve. Now, some perch or pike, then you're talking. 4 types of fish on the Dougpol table tomorrow - none of them remotely as tasteless as carp.

you are afraid that they will take a close look at your business practices.

Nah. Three audits in two years under them last time. Not one zloty could they rule as mis-appropriation.
Of course every small business could make a mess of something or misunderstand the rules. This time around the scum seem to have other fish to fry, but I expect they will get round to consoling themselves with bothering the small man when they realise that their unworkable socialist ideals will not become reality.

You are talking utter tripe and you are repeating it over and over again. I don't know whether you don't know any better or it is because you don't want to know any better.

Then I am in good company aren't I? The PIS justice minister does nothing but repeats himself.
He is still banging on as we speak live on TVN about his version of democracy in the Senate and running endless 5 minute rants about the last governments' supposed criminality. The man has a screw loose and really should be in a state sponsored home.

I would write to them - why don't you mind your own business?

Well, it is true that Hungary, and now Poland, like to bite the hand that feeds them.

Their rabid nationalism will come back to **** them both in the ass.

The western media can see the situation for themselves, for they have been to school.

Nobody needs to badmouth Poland. The Poles are doing it all by themselves. Aren't you watching the Senate proceedings right now?
Your Justice minister is mouthing off like a rabid dog. You couldn't make it up. An embarrassment doesn't even come close to defining him.

PO has collapsed, "Nowoczesna" is big nothing

Pretty much guaranteed that most PO voters have crossed over to Nowoczesna. If a snap election were held tomorrow it would be a close thing. Of course PIS would still win, because the opposition hasn't regrouped. But within the year, the writing will be absolutely on the wall for this dictatorial mob, hopefully with most of the most able PO people like Neumann joining the show .

The long term futures' bright with opposition to PIS every single step of the way.

I am watching the Justice minister speaking in the Sejm. Am I alone in thinking this man is actually dangerous in his rhetoric and could in fact be not right in the head?

They would not allow opinion if they could and would censor this forum and everything else.

I can easily see them trying to ban KOD demonstrations for example - so we really should be ready for street demonstrations as in communist times, and get back to boxing and circuit training to protect ourselves from these thugs. That's certainly what I will be doing in the New Year.

That's what democracy is about. Why do you hate it so much ?

Because their socialist policies would hurt my pocket.

* in case you are a foreigner without voting rights, just leave this country and go elsewhere

That's what I'm talking about. What an idiotic response.
So all Poles who don't like Cameron should **** off then, to fit your argument. I should leave my business and hard work, and friends and family - just to indulge this xenophobic scum.? Yeah, sure.

No, I am going to fight them.

You mean anti this business ?

I mean anti-humanist, selfish, nationalistic right wing morals, allied with communist style inducements and threats, that clearly wont work today. The communists had the IMF pay for their ridiculous foolery. PIS would have the ordinary working people paying for their nonsense.

And I and millions of others are not having it.

Why are you so aggressive ?

Because your PIS gang have just voted for dictatorial powers, enlarging the Tribunal to 15/18, and signing of by the president tomorrow, with no cooling off period or DEBATE. Do you understand the word democracy?

This inflames the situation, unless the population doesn't care of course. I think they do, and I expect the opposition to obstruct at every turn.

We shall see. Yes, I'm aggressive, if you care to call anger that.

Censorship. I swear if he comes down my street I will set the Die-wolf on him.

It's all kicking off in the Sejm tonight. I expect fisticuffs before the night is out. The opposition promising dire consequences for the government. Like predicted. PIS are fast becoming the laughing stock, and they are digging their heels in and carrying on their illegal work in the faith that our Chairman is untouchable.

To the streets!

Sejm za ustawa Trybulna

I smell trouble.

You must have been associating with some degenerates I have never seen anybody drinking on a Christmas Eve

You're living in the past. If peeps want a glass or three to wash down that ugly Wigilia food what has it got to do with you?

the Wigilia gathering starts with the reading of St Luke's gospel about the birth of Christ, then Grace is said and the opłatek is broken and shared from the eldest down to the youngest.

What?

Maybe in religious households like yours' Polonius but I would never stand for that sanctimonious rubbish at my table.

Polish voters don't want refugees here. Okay, end of story. It's not worth fighting over.

I don't agree.

Read Hansard and other documentation. Diplomats were sick of the Polish insular attitude then, as they are now.

We helped in 1919 by doing the right thing. We helped in 1939, we helped in Martial Law, we helped with EU grants.

Well time for Poland to get it's finger out of it's ( very big) arse. IMO of course.

Polish Christmas carols

Yes. It's a good thing that Christmas comes just but once a year. One would have thought Panderecki and Gorecki and that mob might have been lent on to write some proper tunes, like wot the German classical composers wrote:)

I was referring to first communion "celebrations" and such of that ilk, not Wigilia.....

News / Throwing away the constitution in Poland? [626]

Topics from PM's expose are clearly not a priority. Smoleńsk, Radio Maryja, trampling Constitution are.

Yes. Because like children from problem families, PIS politicians have ongoing psychological problems. Except that somebody should pull them up on the fact that they are not children.....

In terms of their age....

Smurf is right though Polonius. And don't Poles know it! It's medieval stuff, and they sit through it all stoically, but it doesn't mean us foreigners have to :))

sipping wine or a few small shots though the meal.

Father in law in residence this year... he would be offended if there were any alcohol on the table. I seem to remember him de-rigeur being blitzed at 9 am the next morning though.

Where's the logic?:)

Lol - fair comment. Though I envy Smurf..... the suit is just another thing to get me worked up, and sneaking down to the garage for a snorter of Ballantines old :)

1961 look it up one hell of a snowstorm.

Ah - you didn't say it was 1961/2:)) The Great Freeze.
I was 5, and I still remember the cracking snow and skating on the lake at the back of the house. That lake never froze again in all the years I lived there.

I was born on Christmas day

Really bad luck Dolno - what with the lack of one lot of presents when you were a nipper.... as to the "three foot of snow" - poetic licence eh! More like 3 inches, as the frustrated actress grumbled to the bishop.

we used to go to midnight mass then come home, my uncle and father would then drink vodka until the early hours

LOL. I used to drive on the morning after Wigilia to pick up a pal and regular as clockwork the police would stop me. They couldn't work out for the life of them why I was driving on an empty dual-carriageway on the 25th of December and how the alchometer registered zero:)

We would make up for the late start later though:))

I got mine at M&S last year on Christmas Eve (with a serious price cut).

Yep, they were giving them away in January here in Sopot. Like a berk I didn't buy any :)

May the joy of Wigilia, so Polish and dear
Fill you and your family throughout the New Year.

Very good Polonius:)

You do leave out the bit of information (for those who don't know this) that a Polish Christmas Eve is oft horribly formal with suiting up and that bloody oplatek, the food is uneatable, and there is no boozing.

The poem was super evocative though!
