News / 2011 Stats: 80% of Poles happy [60]

Unfortunately, capitalism and communism alike fooled women into believing that their destiny is in working their arse off in the job market.

Destiny? Or perhaps a wish to do more than stay at home.

Then again, most married women who work full time have to do the cooking and cleaning as well.

they "pose for clicks" too. Don't make me show you examples of that lol

You can if you want...

Secondly, 100% of men were and are being made by women. Your body exists because it was literally built and fed by a woman's body

People (with Y chromosomes anyway) tend to forget this. There are apparently sound evolutionary reasons for that and for perceived negative behaviours of both sexes.

on the ground may be such that there are no current facilities in the US that are able to produce various kinds of antibiotics

That may be true (and is a sign as good as any of how capitalism should never be allowed to dictate a country's manufacturing policies), however they were of course invented and first made by Sir Alexander Fleming in hospital bedpans.
Although there's not much profit in making them (hence US pharmaceutical companies buying from China), there are plenty of countries that can and do make them and there's only a relatively small number of antibiotics that can't be substituted for others.

They can but in the rarer ones, and set up not-for-profits or workers' cooperatives domestically to make the rest.

True also that there's a lead time in setting up production however Donald Trup didn't really think things through and is of course racing to do stuff before the midterms, after which he'll be a lame duck.

It's not really a binary choice though, is it.

of them have menial, sh*tty, dead-end jobs.

Most humans do, including in Poland. The only difference is that in developed societies there are workers' rights, state pensions, universal healthcare, all giving a sense of and an illusion of, freedom.

anyway these are not essential if you ask me

Rice isn't essential at all. There are even negative effects when a poorer society starts importing it, and of course America has a lot of poor.

medicines such
as Tetracycline along with other drugs and antibiotics

There's no need to buy such items from China.

.thats what I mean! Denying ANYTHING which doesn't fit into the left worldview

It's hard to know how pointing out something politically neutral triggers you.

And no, accepting millions of immigrants from far away is NOT an alternative!

It's not an 'alternative'. It's a reality. The world is shrinking now, and ever increasing migration is the future for the next few decades.

Foreign press tells me the mayor of Warsaw has trouble with his left-leaning/progressive electorate

Not really. Especially since the alternative is Wielki Bu who they'll not vote for.

Are you upset that he has walked back a lot of

Centre right politicians always dance around things that don't play well in Peoria. His 'positions' around matters LGT+ are neither here nor there since he can't do any damage.

after all a successful big scale desalination would end all water problems of this world,

It really wouldn't.

keep Africans home

Why should they do that? After all, Europeans didn't...

Southern France

It's hard to believe that Sussex, Kent and Hampshire make better Champagne and Chablis than the Champagne and Chablis regions of France. So much so that French winemakers won't have open category blind tastings any more. The future for them is probably licensing the regional names as brands to be made in NZ or U.K. That or the names will just die off.

But one can imagine that if Central Europe is becoming increasingly dry, how bad things will be in Africa and thr ME... .

I could tell some stories about this however 50% reading them would disbelieve them and some of the others would pretend to like the idea of people dying or getting ill.

This means that Mr Trzaskowski is going to win thanks to women`s votes

We shouldn't underestimate the chance of that. It's 50% of voters and they already dislike the pimp Nawrocki.

India and Pakistan's Water Wars Are Just Beginning

I'd forgotten about that one. There's a couple of growing flash points nearer to where I am now in central/west Africa.

We are talking about people having to leave because there is not enough water and food there to survive

The Sahara is growing fast to the south west. It's already caused the Darfur crisis and now Nigeria is desertifying. No politician wants to deal with it; population movements of millions aren't a vote winner.

He did already more

More damage by supporting extreme rightwing candidates, firing thousands of public sector staff for no reason at all, including veterans, bankrolling far-rightwing politicians and trying to interfere with the sentences of jailed racist grifters in countries he has no connection to.

That and the public Hitler salutes, which as bad signs go, is very much the worst.

you better start cheering Musk

He didn't invent anything. He just tried to make money (which he's now losing) from it.

The refugee situation right now will look downright trivial if large parts of the Middle East and Africa end up inhospitable due to climate change.

Migration from the global south to Europe, Canada and Siberia has barely begun.

We're no more than a decade (and probably less) from the first water war, and yes, the damage done by industry over the past 150 years or so can only be at best mitigated

So you're suggesting that 99.9% of scientists are wrong and you know something the scientists don't?

I wonder what the latest figures for his car sales are.

He could always give them away as prizes to people who polish up their jackboots nicely.

News / AI rulez in Poland! The New Polish Open Language Model and AI Technologies. [12]

However, it requires constant monitoring, and it's not really that intelligent.

It has its uses. Doing drudge work that you'd not have time to. It does need going through carefully though due to some of the drivel it puts out. New though and in 10 years it'll be unrecognisable.

The purpose of AI is to eliminate jobs

That's certainly a use. Sadly the way of all tech. It won't make things much cheaper though; instead it will make bad people richer.

If domestic AI, available for £18 a month, can do all that, you can bet the farm that the AI used by the Chinese government can do a lot more.

Given that he was born less than 116 years ago, you'll need a death certificate unless he died in service.

You can download the form and send it to the address given. You'll need:
The name of your relative (including all variants)
Their date of birth
Military unit (if known)
Proof of kinship (i.e. birth certificates leading back to the one that named your relative).
Death certificate of your relative

News / Will PiS be happy if AfD wins elections in Germany? [1301]

What a rant. I just read the first bit. Not connected to the political issues in Europe. Having re-read the John Kennedy Toole book already this year, there's little point except sadistic fun in reading stuff of the type the main character might say. Anyway, he's what Claude Robichaux would call a "police character".

I wonder why he confuses the very low production standards of food in his country with local council food hygiene ratings in an entirely unrelated place. And he still doesn't even know what town he's talking about from the tabloid article. The same sloppiness that led to his juvenile crimes being traced back to him.

And even more, why he thinks downmarket takeaways in an unrelated country are anything to do with the politics in Germany.

Keeping to the topic, it looks like Germany are going to block EU infrastructure funding for Slovakia. A positive step.

Very sad about that guy who drove the car into the crowd at the victory parade in Liverpool tonight.

It looks like it was deliberate.

retards

There is something rather sad about rightwingers that makes them choose especially tawdry terminology.

retards is not satisfying actually

If you want satisfying, you could always ask Nawrocki to send one or more of his girls up.

At least you'll get a happy ending, unlike him on election day...
