Travel / Poland in photo riddles - part 2 [1680]

Oh I saw that when I was in Poland last summer.
It is the Monument to the Revolutionary Act located in the very center of Rzeszów at the confluence of Łukasz Ciepliński Avenue and Józef Piłsudski Avenue.

It's much bigger in real life than your picture portrays.

Genealogy / What are common Polish character traits? [425]

One of the most admired traits of the Polish was 'hard workers'.
This trait seems to have been lost in this generation.
Poland must not have had welfare programs in the old days. yes ?

News / How could PiS better spend billions instead of 500+ ? [280]

However Greece has a ace in the hole with their lucrative shipping economy that Poland does not have.
Today, shipping is the country's most important industry worth $22 billion plus.
If related businesses are added, the figure jumps to $24 billion, employs about 400,000 people, and shipping receipts are about 1/3 of the nation's trade deficit.
Poland does not afford such a luxury.
Besides back then the economy was thriving in the E.U. and today it is declining.

Food / What do non-Poles think about eating the following Polish foods? [1450]

Everywhere?

Everywhere in the U.S.A. anyways.

aren't pickled though vinegar is poured on them at the table...

I would tend to disagree with that.
Pickled pigs feet is a type of pork associated with Cuisine of the Southern United States, Mexican, Chinese, and Scandinavian cuisine.
The feet of domestic pigs are typically salted and smoked in the same manner as other pork cuts, such as hams and bacon.
It is common to preserve them in a manner very similar to home canning and processes for pickled vegetables typically a saturation of hot vinegar brine is used.

Pickled pig legs?

I am not joking you.
You can buy pickled pigs feet in most large grocery stores.
The meat is very tender and sweet.
I know they sound unappetizing but once you get past the visual they are quite a delicacy.
One of my Polish fathers favorite snacks.

I eat sliced or chopped raw onion -on tomato sandwiches

My favorite is a grilled cheese sandwich with a slice of sweet onion and a slice of tomato in it while grilling.
I will have to admit that you Polish girls are much more creative with your recipes then American women are.

People shouldn`t play such tricks

Polish people don't as they are pretty much a no nonsense bunch and very superstitious.
Americans on the other hand don't take life as seriously as the Polish do.
Back on topic please.

Do you think I can trust it?

The commercial stuff like Silver Floss is to salty and Franks is to sweet.
I buy my from an old Polish farmer who makes up a hundred gallons at a time in the fall and sells it.
I freeze it up in quart bags.
I know a cup of it's juice alone is a miracle cure for constipation.
You can definitely trust it for that. Oh yi yi !

It may be a surprise to learn that whole wheat bread, homemade soup or a chopped apple also are processed foods.
Everything in moderation.
French fries are the worst food, sauerkraut is the best food generally speaking.

I got tired of my alma mater begging for money so I did a return to sender as deceased.
It worked.

there are few other public servants who get that kind of cash !

You are clueless to what kind of cash is involved say in just the University of Michigan football program alone.
First off the football stadium seats over 115,000 people at an average of $100 per ticket per game for the season.
Done the math yet ?
Add in $50 to park your car and another $50 to tailgate and the money they rake in from the concession stands on food and Michigan football hats and jerseys.

Then add in the t.v. royalties. $$$$$
A coach has to be good to produce a winning team to pack the stadium which the University Michigan has been sold out of all tickets for every game year after year.

Now the expenses are unbelievable.
The U of M will spend over $100,000 JUST on ankle tape in one season for example.
If you want to get an idea how big this place is just google "The Big House".
That's why these coaches get paid so much.

Those full ride scholarships can total up to well over $300,000 US over four years of college.
A lot of college players get injured and never make it big time and if they do it usually is a very short career because of injuries.

isn't it awful that the head coaches of college teams get paid

Google and see what the coach for the University of Alabama (Nick Saban) makes if anyone doubts you.

Professional sports suck today as the over paid players think they are little gods.
Most of them spend their millions foolishly to keep up their image of being the best.
My buddies and I watch college sports now instead as they are much more exciting and unpredictable.
March Madness for the College National Basketball Championship at the end of the season is the ultimate.
Those kids (18-21) do things that are humanly impossible sometimes.

Jesus!!

Are you referring to the same Jesus that died on the cross for your sins ?

How many goals did Lewandowski get?

Didn't say how many points he scored.
All it gave was Poland was led by Mateusz Ponitka (18 points) and Adam Waczynski (17 points) against the USA
It's not uncommon for a team to score 100 points and still lose the game in basketball.

The Catholic Church declared abortion, among other things, a sin bar none.

This is where you are confused Rabbi.
Your brain has been poisoned.
It wasn't the Pope that decreed abortion (a.k.a. MURDER) a sin, it was God Almighty that said, "Thou Shall Not Kill".
Remember the burning bush ?

Life / Owning a house in true countryside of Poland - stories [692]

Today I am doing an experiment: the whole salmon and two chickens.

I can already tell you that the fish smell will ruin the chickens flavor.
From personal experience I have found that out the hard way.
I now have two smokers, one for fish and one for meat.

Anybody can see that is not a gun.

Really Doug ?
And how long did it take you to determine that ?
Long enough that if it was a gun you would be gasping your last breath.

When its dark everything changes, you better be ready for anything from these thugs.

Right on as these guys don't stay alive by being dumb or being caught off guard.
The only difference between you and them is that they have nothing to lose.
